the narrator Gregor Samsa is a traveling salesman and one morning wakes up and has become a cockroach. he describes him missing work and trying so hard to actually get up, hearing family and co-workers from the other side of his locked door. now he maneuvers himself to get off the bed to figure out what has happened to himself!
