Yes the corvid. I thought it could stand in briefly, as you have said, while we look for something more appropriate. I can envisage a drawing, books and cobwebs, that sort of thing.
Do you want me to put the picture up?
:) Georgina.

Pagan bookshelf 2

Not many specifically pagan, but there are probably many suitable ones under different headings - eg. 'Moon'.

If not, I shall have to delete it altogether.
I think C-Cose is moderating it?
You are right, it does. I don't go on facebook much anymore. I closed my author page due to my own lack of interest and I only keep my private profile in order to keep in touch with distant friends. I'm o.k with deleting it. I know Nell isn't on FB at all, not sure about Aaron. How about I drop a line about this in our announcements thread?

That's fine, although we'd miss you if you did decide to leave GR! If we don't find someone to take over the FB page soon, we'll delete it.

I think amazon is aware of the lack of enthusiasm about their purchase of GR. They would be mad to change anything anytime soon. I unlinked my private FB profile from GR, deleted myself from a score of GR groups (one due to an argument over opinions about the possible changes), and sulked for a while, but at the end of the day, I have friends here and it's the most amazing virtual library in the world.
I do think private companies becoming monopolies is a real issue though. I am also worried about data retrieval and the fact that this is the first time in history that private cooperations have so much personal information about individuals. This is dangerous territory in my mind. Anyone seen that old 70s movie Beware of the Blob?
(P.S excuse typos please. End of the day. Just finished feeding all the animals. Knackered. )

Yes I get concerned about the corporate takeover business. I do think it's a backlash to all the open source type projects which have become almost a movement on the internet.
As for me, I will be here as long as this group is here, and we can basically interact, share ideas, and respectfully write about what we want.
"As for me, I will be here as long as this group is here, and we can basically interact, share ideas, and respectfully write about what we want. " That's my take too.

I do worry about the corporatization of the internet, and the establishment of profiles about each and every one of us, whether we are aware of it or not. And whether its needed or not. I could go political on this and talk about how to me it all links to the freedoms in the US that began to be curtailed with The Patriot Act, and continue to be. Another rant for another day.
I agree with what Aaron wrote--I don't plan on abandoning GoodReads yet. And I hope it stays the large free-for-all book family as it began. I like sharing ideas here, and wish I had more time to do so. LOL, and I'm woefully behind on my reviews. One of these days. . . .

Things seem to be becoming very bigbrotherish. I've noticed lately that if I browse for something I need, there will inevitably be messages in my Hotmail (now Outlook...!) inbox trying to sell me the item/s I was looking at.
Happily, I don't belong to FB or twitter, and have no intention of joining.
