Merging two books

Wanted to double check before I merged the two books. I see a duplicate entry for the book and wanted to confirm that I should delete the first link below.

Merging is done by deleting the lesser popular link, correct?

First you would combine the two books, then delete.

In this case, there's only one other edition. But, for example, if the book to be combined/deleted/merged was an audiobook... you would want to separate the audiobook edition from the other editions unless the most popular edition was an audio. Then combine the separated edition and the edition to be deleted, then delete. Then recombine the edition that's left with the other editions.

That isn't the general rule, no, though it is true in this case.

You combine the two editions so that they are both lumped together as editions of the same book. Then you delete (in this case) the ISBN-less one that has been shelved by 4 people.

Got it (I think). Thanks guys. It's still a bit confusing so I prefer to double check before I do anything :)
