Oh! I think I've figured out how to download the audio to "little polka-dot"! Yippee. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I may be listening soon. :)
Hi all here are my answers to the discussion points:1) I didn't know the book was going to be humorous when I first picked it up, but was pleasantly surprised to find it funny and much like the Stephanie Plum book in my opinion
2) Ahhhh Mister Wong! I have no idea who or what he is but I can’t wait to find out my first thoughts where is he is a very old spirit whom has gotten stuck in this world due to some traumatic experience. He is very funny little problem I love when Charley states “I wanted the apartment and I figured I could cover him up with a bookcase or something. But the thought of having a dead guy hovering behind my copy of Sweet Savage Love gnawed at me. I couldn’t just leave him there. I don’t even know if he like’s romance” Ha humor!
Angel must be a spirit as well, and must work with her from time to time.
3)I don’t know but sign me up!!
4) My opinion is that Uncle Bob is passionate about solving these crimes and will use what ever tools are within his reach, including Charley. She has helped elevate his career and she has made contacts on the force. I do think it is a two way street with information Charley uses Bob and Bob uses Charley. Quid pro quo
5)Garrett could be a love interest although he seems to think she is a fraud. I think he is using her to nap a skip and she is a means to an end for him.
7)I think young Reyes was trying to scare the young girls away to protect them from the man in the house.
8)unfinished business..
9)I think he believes part of what she is telling him, but is still looking for a more reasonalbe answer that fits within his comfort zone
10)Totally is Reyes!
I'm at chapter 10 and literally had to force myself to stop reading!Heather’s Questions for Chapters 1-5
1. First thoughts on Charley? Did you think this book was going to be humorous? Maybe I should ask if you find the book humorous? No way did I expect it to be this funny. Like, seriously laugh out loud funny. I'm finding Charley to be entertaining and just very "real", if that makes any sense. Maybe I'm sick, but I like that she gets her ass kicked a bit and doesn't come away from everything completely unscathed. Plus smart-arse heroines are my absolute fave.
2. We have some interesting characters introduced right from the start. Thoughts on why she can’t get Mr. Wong to leave? Who is Angel? Could he be the kid she met the night she was helping her sister with her school project? Yes, I don't think there can be that many kids called Angel in this book, but not sure why he hasn't crossed over. I'm guessing Mr Wong will end up playing a part in this somehow, rather than just a decorative character.
3. What is going on with these dreams or possessions coming over Charley? Hot as they might be, they are a little alarming. Any ideas on how they are happening? I'm going with the astral travel theory for now, cos I have no other ideas.
4. Do you think Charley gets used by her family, in a bad way, or is it just accepted on her part to help them? Uncle Bob seemed to be rather demanding, or was I reading too much into it all? Hmm, I hadn't thought that while I was reading it, but can totally see how that would be the case. I really want to know more about the step-mother relationship as well.
5. We meet Garrett, who knows about Charley, but doesn’t accept it. He seems pretty determined not to believe in her abilities, but then I get the sense he’s conflicted. What are your thoughts on him? Is he going to be a love interest? And why, if he’s a skiptracer, is he still involved and taking her to Elizabeth’s body? Not sure why he's still involved, but think Elizabeth was right when she said he had the hots for her. And really, any rational human would be a little conflicted if you heard about all this...
6. Anybody else think the Rosie (case) matter is going to come up and bite Charley in the butt later in this book? She seems to have dismissed the ex pretty fast. Yep, just hope she doesn't show up dead!
7. We got more information on Reyes. The situation surrounding their introduction was rather brutal. What was Reyes trying to prove with his display in the alley? For a teenager, he came off rather scary. Thoughts? Definitely scary! I think he was just doing the only thing that would guarantee she'd get out of there.
8. If the ghosts are supposed to move on, and they use Charley as a portal, why haven’t the 3 lawyers moved on? Just to stay around to find out who killed them, as none of them saw who killed them. I guess so, since that's why Sussman first came to see Charley.
9. By Chapter 5 we see that Garrett might be coming around. Do you think that part of the reason why he starts to accept her truth is because he’s interested in her? Did you agree with her take on the “non-believers” and reluctance not to do parlor tricks to prove what she is, or was she just being stubborn about him? A little of both. He's definitely interested, and she's doing the once-bitten, twice-shy routine, but she's being stubborn about it.
10. The blur from Elizabeth sister’s house makes a reappearance, and Charley is convinced that it’s Reyes. What do you think he is that he can show up like that and have this dream-like effect on her? I have my suspicions, but not really sure yet on what he is... Whatever he is though, he's a good guy. A H-O-T good guy :-)
You have better willpower than me. I'm in chapter 13, CaroB. lolBut I've put it down for the night. Promise. ;-)
@Cindy#2 - I feel bad for the little guy too and I LOL at the bookcase comment.
#3 - I'm right there with ya!
#4 - good points! She does use him, so its makes the helping Uncle Bob a bit easier to swallow for me. =)
#5 - I hadn't thought of it like that. You just gave me something to ponder about.
#7 - Yes, yes. I think you are so right about that, and it was way more credit than I was giving him while I was reading it. Excellent thought
#10 - Agree, though its still odd
@CaroB#1 - I'm loving Charley too. Love that she can take a punch, get bruised and then kick your ass with her tongue lashing. lol
#3 - Wow, that's a great theory!
#4 - I want more info on the Evil step-mom too. Is she really evil, or has she just given up on figuring out Charley.
#7 - you and Cindy had the same thought, which I completely agree with now. Makes him a little less scary and more likable.
#10- Agreeing with you some more!
Hey I guess I forgot to answer number 6...I think something must be up, the writer keeps popping that storyline up to offten for it to over and done with..That husband just creep's me out!!
@ Carol.. The stepmom what a B*tch! I wonder what the story is with Charley and her and why the Dad has allowed it to progress to this level of amomosity?
Susan's Answer's for Heather’s Questions for Chapters 1-5 1. First thoughts on Charley? Did you think this book was going to be humorous? Maybe I should ask if you find the book humorous? I had no clue the book would be humorous. Charley is full of smack talk. Very sassy. And I am laughing while reading it.
2. We have some interesting characters introduced right from the start. Thoughts on why she can’t get Mr. Wong to leave? Who is Angel? Could he be the kid she met the night she was helping her sister with her school project? I'm guessing Angel is the kid she met the night she was helping her sister with the project. Mr. Wong is interesting. Maybe he's Muslim and the corner he's in faces the Holy City LOL
3. What is going on with these dreams or possessions coming over Charley? Hot as they might be, they are a little alarming. Any ideas on how they are happening? No clue on how they're happening, but yep, they 're HOT. I"m jealous of her dreams ;)
4. Do you think Charley gets used by her family, in a bad way, or is it just accepted on her part to help them? Uncle Bob seemed to be rather demanding, or was I reading too much into it all? YES, Charley is used by her family. Uncle Bob was rather rude when he called her and then was ugly when she was "late" getting to the scene. As for her step-mom. NOT liking her at all. Could it be that she just doesn't know how to process Charley's skill and has trouble believing she's the Grim Reaper and that's why she treats her that way? Not sure about sister Gemma though. In the flashback where we meet Reyes, Charley was helping her with a project, but now it seems like they don't even talk. Not sure what all went wrong with them.
Am I the only one who had to look up the term "skiptracer"? LOL I think Garrett wants to believe her but is skeptical. As Charley put it, it's hard to adjust what you've always known to be real and true.
6. Anybody else think the Rosie (case) matter is going to come up and bite Charley in the butt later in this book? She seems to have dismissed the ex pretty fast. I think it will.
7. We got more information on Reyes. The situation surrounding their introduction was rather brutal. What was Reyes trying to prove with his display in the alley? For a teenager, he came off rather scary. Thoughts? I think he was trying to get them away and used whatever means necessary. I'm curious as to why Charley would think the dream guy is Reyes though if she only had that one interaction with him 12 years ago. Has he been in the back of her mind this whole time?
8. If the ghosts are supposed to move on, and they use Charley as a portal, why haven’t the 3 lawyers moved on? Just to stay around to find out who killed them, as none of them saw who killed them. I think it's the inquisitive nature of the lawyers to want to see who killed them and why and to see justice done.
I do think he's interested in her. Not sure why he's given her the cold shoulder for the last few weeks if he is. And I totally agree with Charley in not wanting to perform parlor tricks...and when I read that "parlor tricks" statement, my mind went to the movie Beetlejuice LOL
10. The blur from Elizabeth sister’s house makes a reappearance, and Charley is convinced that it’s Reyes. What do you think he is that he can show up like that and have this dream-like effect on her? Once again, I have no clue LOL Can you tell my head is hurting? I'm not exactly processing the story too great :) If my head wasn't hurting so badly right now, I'd keep reading cause I want to know what they saw Charley doing with her blur to get such a reaction from everyone in the room :)
Lisa Kay’s Answers to Heather’s Questions for Chapters 1-5 1. First thoughts on Charley? Did you think this book was going to be humorous? Maybe I should ask if you find the book humorous?
I think I read somewhere that it was funny, and I do think it is. :)
2. We have some interesting characters introduced right from the start. Thoughts on why she can’t get Mr. Wong to leave? Who is Angel? Could he be the kid she met the night she was helping her sister with her school project?
Poor Mr. Wong. I guess the question is if he will “go toward the light” in this book or be a permanent part of the series. Angel is a adolescent ghost, right? Probably.
3. What is going on with these dreams or possessions coming over Charley? Hot as they might be, they are a little alarming. Any ideas on how they are happening?
Nope. Haven’t a clue.
4. Do you think Charley gets used by her family, in a bad way, or is it just accepted on her part to help them? Uncle Bob seemed to be rather demanding, or was I reading too much into it all?
I think it is just accepted. If I was her, I would be more upset that he couldn’t keep his mouth shut.
Good Gravy Beans! I don’t know about this guy. Is he going to be the love interest? He was interested in Charley until he found out she’s “in touch with the Mother Ship.” In Real Life, I can’t blame him (come on, The Grim Reaper?!); nevertheless, in Romancelandia I think he should give her the benefit of the doubt. He still sounds like a Cynical Sarcastic Jerk on the audiobook when he talks to her.
6. Anybody else think the Rosie (case) matter is going to come up and bite Charley in the butt later in this book? She seems to have dismissed the ex pretty fast.
Hmmmm… maybe. To tell the truth, I don’t know where that storyline is going or if it will be picked up again in this volumn.
7. We got more information on Reyes. The situation surrounding their introduction was rather brutal. What was Reyes trying to prove with his display in the alley? For a teenager, he came off rather scary. Thoughts?
I don’t know. Yeah, he is pretty scary for a 17 (?) year old. Maybe CaroB is right and he is just trying to scare her off.
8. If the ghosts are supposed to move on, and they use Charley as a portal, why haven’t the 3 lawyers moved on? Just to stay around to find out who killed them, as none of them saw who killed them.
I think they want closure/justice.
Probably. Yes, to some extent, his libido is convincing him. I can see why people want proof, but I see her side.
10. The blur from Elizabeth sister’s house makes a reappearance, and Charley is convinced that it’s Reyes. What do you think he is that he can show up like that and have this dream-like effect on her?
I don’t know! LOL! I’m confused; I though the blur was The Big Bad? Could they be one and the same?
@ Susan, I think the reason Charley thinks the Dream man is Reyes is because the "dream" guy called her Dutch, and Reyes is the only one to call her that.
Cindy wrote: "@ Susan, I think the reason Charley thinks the Dream man is Reyes is because the "dream" guy called her Dutch, and Reyes is the only one to call her that."Ah!
CaroB's Qs for Chapters 6-1011. Opinions on the little quote/ sayings at the beginnings of the chapters? Humourous/Distracting/ Gives Me a Clue to the Chapter Contents?
12. Do you think Reyes is dead or alive or Other?
13. Will the case with the lawyers end up being related to the intrigue surrounding Reyes? Is it all part of one big plot or a few subplots working together?
14. What do you make of the fact that Charley left her body to make out with Reyes? Is he some kind of soul sucker? Is this a new ability of his or of hers?
15. Comments on Rocket and what he revealed about Reyes?
16. Do you think the teenage girl that is haunting Taft might be related to the teenage disappearances?
17. OMG! "Danger" and "Will Robinson", LMAO!!! I've never heard of women naming body parts, this just cracked me up. no question here, but feel free to comment :-)
18. Who do you think punched Charley before her fall through the skylight?
19. For all that Charley's step-mum Denise seems to be Queen Biatch to her, Cookie seems to be the complete opposite. Supportive, motivating and just as coffee-obsessed :-) If there is this balance in her life, why does Charley still seem quite cynical about Swopes beleiving her? Why doesn't she give him the benefit of the doubt?
20. After Charley's info dump on Cookie about what being a grim reaper has meant for her, are you:
a) more confused, it only raises more questions
b) glad for the chat, it's all much clearer
c) wiping the drool from your chin when you imagine Reyes?
21. Who is your favourite secondary character and why?
CaroB's Qs for Chapters 6-1011. Opinions on the little quote/ sayings at the beginnings of the chapters? Humourous/Distracting/ Gives Me a Clue to the Chapter Contents?
It does give me a clue as to what might be coming, but I find them very humorous. I want some for bumper stickers myself. =)
12. Do you think Reyes is dead or alive or Other?
I think to be able to do what he does, he needs to be Other.
13. Will the case with the lawyers end up being related to the intrigue surrounding Reyes? Is it all part of one big plot or a few subplots working together?
I think it's all tied together.
14. What do you make of the fact that Charley left her body to make out with Reyes? Is he some kind of soul sucker? Is this a new ability of his or of hers?
Ever the romantic, I think their souls are meant to be together, so on the other plane they find a way to connect, but it might have something to do with what Reyes is.
15. Comments on Rocket and what he revealed about Reyes?
I loved Rocket, he was such a cute, but a little sad character. I think what he said was all the more cryptic and only answered that he wasn't dead.
16. Do you think the teenage girl that is haunting Taft might be related to the teenage disappearances?
No, she seems very attached to Taft, so I think she has something to do with him only.
17. OMG! "Danger" and "Will Robinson", LMAO!!! I've never heard of women naming body parts, this just cracked me up. no question here, but feel free to comment :-)
I love it, even posted it my undates. I was LOL at my desk at work. And then I had to explain and had everyone working next to me laughing. Love that she referred to them as such throughout the book!
18. Who do you think punched Charley before her fall through the skylight?
Thought it might have been one of Price's men. Found out later that I was completely wrong.
19. For all that Charley's step-mum Denise seems to be Queen Biatch to her, Cookie seems to be the complete opposite. Supportive, motivating and just as coffee-obsessed :-) If there is this balance in her life, why does Charley still seem quite cynical about Swopes believing her? Why doesn't she give him the benefit of the doubt?
I can understand where she's coming from with Swopes. She's done her best up until then to not make waves since he was told about her, but now that he's in her face about this case and breathing such extreme hot and cold with her, I would be a little (or a lot) pissy with him too. And between people trying to kill her, Reyes and the murders, dealing with his reluctant butt isn't helping things. Can you tell I'm rather irritated with Swopes? lol
20. After Charley's info dump on Cookie about what being a grim reaper has meant for her, are you:
a) more confused, it only raises more questions
b) glad for the chat, it's all much clearer
c) wiping the drool from your chin when you imagine Reyes?
Can I be all of the above? I'm glad I have a better understanding of what her life has been, but it also raised questions too. Reyes has been scary hot from the beginning, so the chat only reinforced that.
21. Who is your favourite secondary character and why?
I'm liking Uncle Bob more and more as the story goes along. He's not the user I originally thought he was. He's like my gruff grandfather, so that's enough right there, but he genuinely cares for her, but also doesn't treat her with kid gloves. He listens to her ideas and sees the value in them, even if others around him think he's crazy too. =)
@Lisa Kay#5- in Romancelandia. ROFLOL I need to list that as my location! Anywho, I agree with you, he is a cynical ass in the audiobook. =)
I feel like there are some holes in the story, so a lot of your confusion as to what is going on.

I can relate with the migraine, Lisa Kay. I had one this weekend and last night and today I'm suffering. How's the ex?Susan's Answer's to CaroB's Qs for Chapters 6-10
11. Opinions on the little quote/ sayings at the beginnings of the chapters? Humourous/Distracting/ Gives Me a Clue to the Chapter Contents? I'm liking the quotes at the beginning of the chapters. I don't find they're giving me any clues as to what's going to happen though.
12. Do you think Reyes is dead or alive or Other? Not sure if he's dead or alive but I do think he's other.
13. Will the case with the lawyers end up being related to the intrigue surrounding Reyes? Is it all part of one big plot or a few subplots working together? I honestly am not sure. I'm leaning towards a few subplots.
14. What do you make of the fact that Charley left her body to make out with Reyes? Is he some kind of soul sucker? Is this a new ability of his or of hers? That was interesting! I think it was his ability that caused that and it confirms my thinking of him being other :)
15. Comments on Rocket and what he revealed about Reyes? Rocket has an interesting job. What's he going to do when he fills up all the walls where he is? Is he going to find a new place? LOL I'm not sure what to make out of what Rocket said about Reyes other than he's not dead.
16. Do you think the teenage girl that is haunting Taft might be related to the teenage disappearances? no, that hadn't crossed my mind before
17. OMG! "Danger" and "Will Robinson", LMAO!!! I've never heard of women naming body parts, this just cracked me up. no question here, but feel free to comment :-) That was funny. I may have to try those names out with my Hubs ;)
18. Who do you think punched Charley before her fall through the skylight? Not sure. But it's odd that he disappeared so completely as did the van and the people loading it.
I think she doesn't want to give him the benefit of the doubt cause he's being so back and forth with her. He was never overly nice to her in the first place and then went to extremes to avoid her and now he's flirting? She's cautious. I would be too.
20. After Charley's info dump on Cookie about what being a grim reaper has meant for her, are you:
a) more confused, it only raises more questions
b) glad for the chat, it's all much clearer
c) wiping the drool from your chin when you imagine Reyes? I'm glad I got the info. It does give me some questions.
21. Who is your favourite secondary character and why? Cookie cause she truly cares for Charley. She's a good friend who trusts her and believes in her with no questions asked.
Susan (susayq) wrote: "I can relate with the migraine, Lisa Kay. I had one this weekend and last night and today I'm suffering. How's the ex?..."Just took my last Imitrex. My Rx ran out and the doctor hasn't re-newed it. Drat! I knew that was going to happen. I have a call into them. I'm sure she'll want to see me. **sigh** Like things have changed in 19 years? I don't think so. Anywayz... The ex is better today, but the last three days were rough.
Susan's Questions for Chapters 11-1622. Reyes is in a coma at the beginning of these chapters. Did you expect that? And what about the reasoning for how he got put in a coma? How could that incident have been covered up like it was?
23. Neil Gossett. Could he be another possible love interest for Charley (even though we know she's swoony over Reyes)? He seems to like her.
24. Charley passed out kissing Reyes!!! How hot is that? I've never passed out kissing my Hubs while he's conscious, and she gets it from a guy in a coma. Comments?
25. Police Officer Taft. What's his deal? He heard the rumors, asked the appropriate questions, and then gets furious when she describes the girl. Was his reaction warranted? Or did it stem from something else?
26. REYES IS THE BIG BAD! Did you see that coming? I'll be honest, I didn't. Do you think he and Charley are soul mates who have been together through countless incarnations since he's Death and she's the Grim Reaper? That's where I'm heading ;)
27. Teddy showed up. We got lots of info on human trafficking. We know who's behind the kidnapping and James's murder, and probably the murder of the attorneys. Comments?
11. Opinions on the little quote/ sayings at the beginnings of the chapters? Humorous/Distracting/ Gives Me a Clue to the Chapter Contents? I liked them, just thought of them as funny sayings.
12. Do you think Reyes is dead or alive or Other?
My money is on other, we haven’t seen any other dead behave the way he does.
13. Will the case with the lawyers end up being related to the intrigue surrounding Reyes? Is it all part of one big plot or a few subplots working together?
I think they are a subplot, love the interaction with Charley and Elizabeth kinda makes me wish she would be a character throughout the series
14. What do you make of the fact that Charley left her body to make out with Reyes? Is he some kind of soul sucker? Is this a new ability of his or of hers?
Strange, although Charley herself stated that she wasn’t sure what being a grime reaper is all about. Maybe that is part of an undiscovered power??
15. Comments on Rocket and what he revealed about Reyes?
Sad, sad story about Rocket, spends his life misunderstood and in a sense tortured because of it. Now his is spending his afterlife recording the names of everyone who has departed. I would say Rocket knows a lot about our mysterious hunk and is not spilling the beans. His is certainly freaked out by the mention of his name.
16. Do you think the teenage girl that is haunting Taft might be related to the teenage disappearances?
I didn’t think of that I guess that is a possibility.
17. OMG! "Danger" and "Will Robinson", LMAO!!! I've never heard of women naming body parts, this just cracked me up. no question here, but feel free to comment :-)
Hell yeah that is one confident women! Although she my have spent to much of her youth in front of the TV!
18. Who do you think punched Charley before her fall through the skylight?
Must be someone involved with the murder of the lawyers, I have no Idea who. I will admit for one minute I thought it could be Swopes…nah
19. For all that Charley's step-mum Denise seems to be Queen Biatch to her, Cookie seems to be the complete opposite. Supportive, motivating and just as coffee-obsessed :-) If there is this balance in her life, why does Charley still seem quite cynical about Swopes believing her? Why doesn't she give him the benefit of the doubt?I think she must have encountered many “unbelievers” throughout her life, I mean can you imagine if someone told you this?? I think Charley’s soul can only take so much and she is cautious now. Cookie seems to be the only person besides her Father and Uncle who have believed what she is. I do believe she would really like to have someone else in her corner but is not ready to let him in
20. After Charley's info dump on Cookie about what being a grim reaper has meant for her, are you:
a) more confused, it only raises more questions
b) glad for the chat, it's all much clearer
c) wiping the drool from your chin when you imagine Reyes?
Sorry did thy mention something other than Reyes??? I had to take a cold shower after that sense
Who is your favorite secondary character and why? Cookie, who wouldn’t want a bestie like Cookie?
22. Reyes is in a coma at the beginning of these chapters. Did you expect that? And what about the reasoning for how he got put in a coma? How could that incident have been covered up like it was?No, I didn’t expect him to be in a coma and I think his whole situation is questionable
23. Neil Gossett. Could he be another possible love interest for Charley (even though we know she's swoony over Reyes)? He seems to like her.
Charley’s old school mate, balding and x football player…hum good thought
24. Charley passed out kissing Reyes!!! How hot is that? I've never passed out kissing my Hubs while he's conscious, and she gets it from a guy in a coma. Comments?
That is super hot…phew Where are all the great kisser’s
25. Police Officer Taft. What's his deal? He heard the rumors, asked the appropriate questions, and then gets furious when she describes the girl. Was his reaction warranted? Or did it stem from something else?
I know what a jerk, this must be very personal for him or he is guilty of something
26. REYES IS THE BIG BAD! Did you see that coming? I'll be honest, I didn't. Do you think he and Charley are soul mates who have been together through countless incarnations since he's Death and she's the Grim Reaper? That's where I'm heading ;)
Soul mates? I don’t know he has this whole evil vibe going and Charley seems to be such a good soul… maybe it is the whole opposites attach in this case.
27. Teddy showed up. We got lots of info on human trafficking. We know who's behind the kidnapping and James's murder, and probably the murder of the attorneys. Comments?
The whole thing makes me sick, human trafficking I hope Reyes gets this guy he deserves to suffur.
Lisa Kay’s As to CaroB's Qs for Chapters 6-10 11. Opinions on the little quote/sayings at the beginnings of the chapters? Humorous/Distracting/Gives Me a Clue to the Chapter Contents?
Humorous & gives me a clue. I like them. ☺
12. Do you think Reyes is dead or alive or Other?
Other.
13. Will the case with the lawyers end up being related to the intrigue surrounding Reyes? Is it all part of one big plot or a few subplots working together?
One big plot.
14. What do you make of the fact that Charley left her body to make out with Reyes? Is he some kind of soul sucker? Is this a new ability of his or of hers?
Probably both.
15. Comments on Rocket and what he revealed about Reyes?
Weird! Or just spooky? (view spoiler)
16. Do you think the teenage girl that is haunting Taft might be related to the teenage disappearances?
Probably.
17. OMG! "Danger" and "Will Robinson", LMAO!!! I've never heard of women naming body parts, this just cracked me up. no question here, but feel free to comment :-)
You haven’t? LOL! I just call mine, “The Girls.”
18. Who do you think punched Charley before her fall through the skylight?
Don’t know.
I image she’s fed up with non-believers after all these years. I’m glad that she has Cookie, who accepts her unconditionally.
20. After Charley's info dump on Cookie about what being a grim reaper has meant for her, are you:
a) more confused, it only raises more questions
b) glad for the chat, it's all much clearer
c) wiping the drool from your chin when you imagine Reyes?
D. All of the above. LOL!
21. Who is your favourite secondary character and why?
I like the three murdered lawyers, especially Elizabeth Ellery.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Lisa Kay’s Answers to Susan's Questions for Chapters 11-16 22. Reyes is in a coma at the beginning of these chapters. Did you expect that? And what about the reasoning for how he got put in a coma? How could that incident have been covered up like it was?
Yes. Surprised, but it makes sense. He was already “labeled.” It is conceivable that it could happen.
23. Neil Gossett. Could he be another possible love interest for Charley (even though we know she's swoony over Reyes)? He seems to like her.
Yeah. He could. He certainly has the hots for her; though I don’t think he wants to, LOL!
24. Charley passed out kissing Reyes!!! How hot is that? I've never passed out kissing my Hubs while he's conscious, and she gets it from a guy in a coma. Comments?
LOL! You are too funny, Susan! I never even thought of kissing a guy in a coma.
25. Police Officer Taft. What's his deal? He heard the rumors, asked the appropriate questions, and then gets furious when she describes the girl. Was his reaction warranted? Or did it stem from something else?
I don’t know. That was just weird to me. The only think I can think of is that when she tuned him out he said something she missed.
26. REYES IS THE BIG BAD! Did you see that coming? I'll be honest, I didn't. Do you think he and Charley are soul mates who have been together through countless incarnations since he's Death and she's the Grim Reaper? That's where I'm heading ;)
Nope. I think you might be on to something.
27. Teddy showed up. We got lots of info on human trafficking. We know who's behind the kidnapping and James's murder, and probably the murder of the attorneys. Comment.
Seems a little early to have this all tied up. Wonder where Sussman is.
@ Susan#15 – I wondered what Rocket is going to do when he runs out of room too! LOL!
#17 – LOL!
#18 – Yes! Now that we’ve read a bit farther, we know about Reyes… But, what about those people?
#19 – Mind Meld!
@ Cindy#15 – It was a sad story.
#17 – LOL! True. Junk TV at that! ☺
#18 – You did?! I was totally perplexed.
#20 – Yes, you're right. Cookie would make a great “bestie.”
#24 – I guess they are all in comas! Hey, just remember: Tom Selleck’s first movie was Coma. He’s just floating there… suspended.
#25 – Oh! Good point. I didn’t think of him being guilty of something.
#26 – I didn’t think he was totally evil. Not as Reyes.
#27 – He does deserve to suffer!
@Lisa Kay, re #27 I thought it was a little early and too easy to wrap up the whole thing with the missing teens and the attorneys too. They didn't have to work to hard for it, it seemed.
@ Lisa Kay and Susan totally loving this author, are you two going to read second grave on the left??? If so I would love to discuss :)
Yes, Cindy. I plan on reading the next one. I read the short story that goes next last night. It was from the ghost's pov. And I'll be honest, I loved the interaction between charley and Reyes in it!
Cindy, I will probably read the next one. I felt the story had holes in it a mile wide, especially the end. . . *shrugs** . . .but I really didn't care that much as the beginning was so fun. I will give the author another try.
Susan's Questions for Chapters 11-1622. Reyes is in a coma at the beginning of these chapters. Did you expect that? And what about the reasoning for how he got put in a coma? How could that incident have been covered up like it was?
I wasn't expecting th coma, so I thought it was a good twist. And I thought it was understandable that they were able to cover it up because no one would be missing him, with no apparent family or friends on the outside.
23. Neil Gossett. Could he be another possible love interest for Charley (even though we know she's swoony over Reyes)? He seems to like her.
I don't think he will be. He was a fairly forgettable character for me.
24. Charley passed out kissing Reyes!!! How hot is that? I've never passed out kissing my Hubs while he's conscious, and she gets it from a guy in a coma. Comments?
It for sure added to the swoon factor of Reyes. He has a lot of sex appeal laying there. lol
25. Police Officer Taft. What's his deal? He heard the rumors, asked the appropriate questions, and then gets furious when she describes the girl. Was his reaction warranted? Or did it stem from something else?
It was completely unwarranted and I had to reread the section twice to make sure I understood what was being said. I was totally taken off guard with his attitude. It didn't make sense to me other than being a plot point for interest and I didn't think it was needed.
26. REYES IS THE BIG BAD! Did you see that coming? I'll be honest, I didn't. Do you think he and Charley are soul mates who have been together through countless incarnations since he's Death and she's the Grim Reaper? That's where I'm heading ;)
I sorta did that coming. Reyes being all scary and intimidating, sorta make sense that he would be around somehow protecting her.
27. Teddy showed up. We got lots of info on human trafficking. We know who's behind the kidnapping and James's murder, and probably the murder of the attorneys. Comments?
It's all tied up with a pretty bow and sorta anti-climatic. It didn't make sure that Teddy wouldn't have come forward earlier than this and that the Father would have let an innocent man go to jail for this long.

It was enjoyable, but it didn't wow me with plot sense. lol
really enjoyed all the humor though!!
Who wants to do our last group of questions? Or are we all done with the book and just want to leave finishing comments/thoughts on the book?
