From Shadowfires, Chapter 2:

The house was bit too cool, so she reset the air conditioner . But for the susurrant sound of cold air coming through the wall vents and the occasional single ring the telephone made before the machine answered it, the house was as silent as Paul Attison's gloom-shrouded office.

I think dogs are angels in disguise. I always thought that even before I started reading the magnificent works by Dean Koontz.

I've always thought so, too, though I suspect my puppy has a streak of the devil in him, too. lol

This morning I went to the dentist before work and it was so fun because my dentist just got two new Golden Retrievers that help in his office and they greeted me with great enthusiasm as I walked through the door. I really like those dogs :-)

My dog definitely understands what I'm saying (I have a beagle). She's a much better listener than most people :-)

One of them (Amber) works as the dental hygienist. She flossed my teeth with her dog hair and polished with her tongue. The other (Rowdy) does the drill work using his canine canines to hold and maneuver the drill. Apparently the dogs work for kibble and treats so it is much more cost efficient for my dentist to employ them than humans.

okay, okay, I'm just kidding. My dentist office offers golden retriever therapy and they just make me happy to greet me. I like to pet them and play with them. It feels good when they chew on my arm.

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 884 comments Actually that it is odd (not Thomas) that I asked you about it and then saw something posted on Facebook about a dentist who uses Golden Labs as therapy dogs. It showed a child lying in the dental chair hugging a dog on his side while the dentist worked on his teeth. I wish there were a dentist in my area that did that. I should have copied down the info to see if it was the dentist you go to.

Angelique | 34 comments I am a fairly new Koontz fan. I read Watchers at the end of the summer, just as school was starting back up. I work as a lunch monitor. My 2nd grade class has a girl named Violet and a boy named Travis. Then my friend gets a dog (not a Golden!) and names him Einstein! (She never read Watchers). The next day I take my son to the dr. Since he's sick we see whoever is available. What's her name?? Nora! It was quite freaky, I must say...all within days of finishing the book. As long as I didn't meet the Outsider I was ok!

It is good to hear that you have not met the Outsider.
