Hmmm..interesting.
350 still seems pretty small though, for what it should be, but I guess we'll see.
I thought he might be Rumple's son too, but how would any character have left Storybrook? Emma was supposed to be the only one....Of course he does seem to have an idea of what's going on....

They make some pretty good arguments, but I'm not completely sold yet.

Wow, that's a little morbid...but I suppose it would have to be to explain it.

How come Red doesn't change into a wolf anymore?

How come Red doesn't change into a wolf anymore?"
That would kind of give away who she is i guess, i mean regina is counting on no one remembering who they r, and when they start to remember they tend to disappear. Turning into a wolf would kind of give it away and since she wouldnt be allowed to leave storybrook the others would be her dinner...makes it hard to enjoy their misery if they r dead...

How come Red doesn't change into a wolf anymore?"
I think all of their magic was stripped from them when they came to "our" world. I think things like turning into a wolf went the way with talking crickets.

Yeah, but Regina doesn't control everything. She didn't even remember herself, until about mid-way into the season. And I don't think she'd have the power to change that.
Besides, Red doesn't have to remember. I mean, she didn't remember until they told her in the fairy tale either.

How come Red doesn't change into a wolf anymore?"

Maybe...but it's not just 'magic', it's part of who Red is. It's a genetic thing as much as a magical thing. If that were the case, wouldn't the original sheriff have been dead since Regina still had his heart? And what about David/Charming? He should have been dead too if magic was void in the real world.

Aaaand, how can they not be aware that time hasn't passed???? I mean, didn't time stand still for 28 years until Emma came back? And all the while the people were going about their lives, not noticing that no one was getting any older? Except Henry?
That wouldn't be a big deal for adults, I guess, but what about the kids? I mean, moving up in grades and getting older is a BIG deal to little kids. Wouldn't they at some point go, hey, you know what, I've been in the third grade for a really long time! And I used to be older than that Henry kid...
lol
And, how come no one thinks it's strange that they can't remember anything from before? Like why doesn't Mary Margaret wonder about her parents?
Ok, I know that you guys probably won't have answers for this stuff. It's just things I've wondered about....

OK, wait a sec... Sorry I gave a pretty small answer to how many people lived in my town. It's actually almost 4,000 people who live here. (I know! I'm sorry, I'm sooo bad with estimations!) It's just that I see the same people all the time, and only sometimes NEW people, so it doesn't seem like a lot of people here.
I don't know... sorry for the misunderstanding.
But my point back there was that they should be able to be pretty self sufficient with a reasonably small amount of people, and like I stated before, the creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis have said that Storybrooke might be bigger than it seems in interviews so that could be how our beloved (and not-so-beloved) characters survive.
Kristen wrote: "Also, why do some people know each other, but not everyone? Like Hansel and Gretel were still aware that they were siblings, but they don't know their father and he doesn't know them. And Red and h..."
Well, I think for Hansel and Gretel's issue, they are siblings anyway, plus they were all by themselves together, alone without a parent; and given the situation that Regina KNEW about with being separated from there dad, she kept them from a happy ending by not letting them being with him and thinking they're orphans.
For Ruby and Granny, it probably made sense to just keep the too together for Regina since Ruby would keep rebelling. It also made sense to us too though, to have them together, so that could be a writing thing.
Well, Charming was in a coma because of the state he was in when the curse was enacted (XP), and since they were in "love" and Regina "didn't want them to have a happy ending", she wouldn't let them be together so, the perfect plan to keep them apart was made: David- comatose patient w/ no memories & married, Mary- school teacher who doesn't know comatose patient!
And again for Grace: Regina had separated Jefferson from his daughter Grace by leaving him in Wonderland to become mad, while she was to end up thinking she was someone else's kid not knowing her TRUE father was taken away from her. Plus, and Jefferson has stated, "that's my curse: to remember". Very sad...
The answer to why people haven't noticed why time hasn't passed is simply: MAGIC. Almost everyone is in this weird haze from the curse that Regina cast so now their memories are all screwed up and twisted so they can't remember when, but they do remember. Their memories might even be erased after a while so they won't be questioning age and such. As for Henry, he probably hardly noticed considering that's all he's ever known. I mean: he's a loner with not many friends, if any, so he probably didn't know many kids before. Since he's gotten older (he's only 10 now), he has come to notice weird stuff going on and since he has the book, he's now connected the dots and started to pay attention. For example, he's noticed a girl in class and recognized her to be, dun dun dun... the Mad Hatter's daughter from his storybook!
Same goes for Mary Margaret with the time thing: her memories are kind of being recycled and they are all in a haze, so she probably doesn't think much of it... and they have false memories too, so that would explain a couple things.
OK, sorry for my rant, but I think I've covered all I needed too.
By the way, I LOVED this episode, and I didn't think I would. Regina seemed younger, so bravo to Lana Parilla! I actually felt BAD for her when her mother killed Daniel! GUILTY! But I felt so bad I just couldn't help it! I mean, the poor woman lost her true love and had to watch! (Hey, so did EMMA! Step-grandma did the same thing to her! Regina...*sigh* you've become your mother.) But dang that girl can hold a grudge! Snow White wanted her to have a mom out of love, because hers passed away! She was a kid Regina! Although, I do understand because Regina seriously wanted to spend the rest of her life with him, and he ended up dead because of Snow. But like I said, Snow thought she was preventing unhappiness.
By the way, Regina has always known who she was.
OK, I'm done now. Go ahead fellow goodreaders...

lol, ok, then. I guess 4,000 does seem a bit more plausible. And of course, I'm sure there's plenty that we haven't seen yet.
Yeah, I know they all have screwed up memories, but I'm wondering why some of them remember certain things and some don't remember the same kind of things. Like, I get why Snow and charming don't remember - because Regina wanted to destroy their happiness and love, blah blah blah. But I'd think familial connections would still hold - like kids with their parents.
And I'd think that at least after Emma showed up, people would start to wonder about all the stuff that doesn't make sense - like henry aging and other kids not. Cuz, even if things are hazy and mixed up, people still question it. Even if Henry didn't have alot of friends, he still knows people. Mary Margret for one.
David's understandable since he's supposed to have memory lapses, but the rest of them shouldn't.
*sigh* I guess I'm over thinking all of this. It is a magical fairy tale show, lol
I felt bad for Regina too. At first. Until she held a grudge against an obviously well-meaning child, and turned into her mother.
She does make a great villain though.

Ya, Regina did take it a bit far... but in all fairness I think people are giving Snow a "little" too much credit. I mean, Snow "was" 12, not 6, so she should have been mindful when it came to keeping a secret. Then again, Snow "was" guilted into telling, but Regina didn't know that. To her it sounded like Snow went and blabbed about Regina and Daniel to Cora, so automatically Regina (being on edge as she was from her traumatizing life) zeroed in on Snow for revenge.
So no, it wasn't right, but Regina was mentally broken from her abusive childhood with her mom and watching her true love die right in front of her because her mom murdered him. Ya, it does sound like she should be mainly blaming Cora, but Snow White "is" the one who told Cora, so... Daniel would most likely be alive now if it weren't for her.
I love Snow but she is at "some" fault for this, regardless of age and being guilted.

And it shouldn't have been such a shock, considering the fact that Regina more-or-less did the same thing when she got her to promise not to tell in the first place.
She should have been smarter than to completely rely a child who was obviously easily manipulated.
And yeah, if not for Snow telling Cora, Daniel might not have died, but it might not have made any difference. She likely would have caught them sooner or later anyway.
But yeah, after everything Regina went through, it's understandable that she went psycho.

but either way, Regina's mom is still powerful.
I like Regina when she's still kind..

i kinda got that from him saying he isnt a liar.... kinda like if he were to lie we would know or something like that

bases on the previews for next week i kinda got that impression too... b/c Rumple told his son about the dagger and how u get the power and it shows new guy with the dagger so we'll see

I loved the ending.... cant wait for next week!

Also, I've always thought the writer was going to be... well, a writer. I think he wrote the characters or is able to write things that will happen to them, something like that. It doesn't make perfect sense because they were actually written by many different people, but neither does most of it- some of them are more than one character, like Mr. Gold/.Rumplestiltskin/the beast and the definition of fairy tale is pretty loose.

Emma's superpower mostly pertains to children... but it's also a thing of letting her emotions cloud her judgement. She trusted Sydney, for example, so she didn't think he would be secretly working against her. I mean, we see all of this behind the scenes stuff that Emma doesn't, so it's not as obvious for her when he tells Emma that Regina got him fired and now he hates her too.
"I think he wrote the characters or is able to write things that will happen to them, something like that." That would be cool, and would have to only work only in Storybrooke, but I don't think that's the case.
It's not really that "It doesn't make perfect sense because they were actually written by many different people-" because we don't know who wrote it. And, just a little fact here: the book doesn't tell us EVERY part to a story within a particular story line, and we know this because the book never said what happened to Hansel and Gretel's father. Henry confirmed this, since he basically said the book said their dad just disappeared. Of coarse we knew from watching, but the book had no detail of it.
Yes, some characters like Rumple have many different aliases in Fairy Tale Land, but that's because they wanted him to have that story line. To twist the tale, and make it their own for the show and because it's overall just a really cool twist.
The writers are definitely using some Tales that aren't of the Fairy genre, but that's really ok, because I think they're doing them justice and making us excited to see our favorite characters from "other worlds", like in Jefferson's hat.
OK, sorry for my rant. Totally not meant to be a hatin' commentary, I'm just trying to explain my opinions/ideas/stuff confirmed by showrunners.

I know you weren't complaining, and I like it a lot too:) I did say it pertains a lot to children, but that was just my rant going on and me only remembering Emma using it on Hansel, Gretel, Henry... Now I remember the adults she used it on. I really meant to say that it's "a thing of letting her emotions cloud her judgement".
Mary wrote: "And when I said they were written by many people, I meant in real life. And we do know who wrote many of those."
Oh, ok! That wasn't very clear... ya, I know we know about the people who wrote the original stories in real life. I meant their world, because what I was saying was directed at the show itself, and who wrote it there.

The only thing with the show that bugs me is the weird timeline. I'm never sure when these events take place. Last night was a classic example. (view spoiler)

I love seeing more of Mr. Gold- he's my favorite. I hate that we're no closer to knowing who August is- unless anyone else has a new theory? As for the timeline (view spoiler)

Oh!! I didn't catch that. Good call. (view spoiler)

Well, I liked this episode a lot considering I'm a HUGE Rumple fan.
But anyway, I feel like his character is the GREYEST character I've ever seen on tv, EVER! The poor guy lost Bae because he was overcome with power and too cowardly to go away with his son to a new world. So, I emphasize, because he felt HORRIBLE after and was literally scratching at the dirt for Baelfire. He spent centuries trying to create and perfect a curse that could take him to the land his son was transported to.
He loved his son more than anything. So much, as to ruin everything for everyone else for his OWN greater good: to find his son. Of coarse, I find it funny that after he LOST both Bae and Belle, he gave the curse to the Evil Queen, and INTENTIONALLY (since he did MAKE the curse), made it so it'd only work if she killed the thing SHE loved most. It's only fitting... considering.
So on that topic, ironically, centuries after saying he'd never love anyone again, he meets the beautiful princess Belle. He takes her away, she becomes his servant. Let me point out that he killed his last maid we know of from The Return, and that BELLE didn't try to escape. The mute maid overheard him and Bae talking, so Rumple killed her. Belle broke a cup, ripped a curtain, and was very nosy about his son, and he replied, "It's just a cup." Wow, how times have changed for you, Rumple. Anyway, he "stayed" because she saw that he was lonely, and he didn't "kill" her because he couldn't bring himself to do it. And why? Because he fell in love with her. The dude "lied"! Haha.
I also like the reason he hates fairies. It was the Blue Fairy's fault that Bae was lost, but in turn it was Rumple's fault for not going. But what if the Blue Fairy had another reason for wanting Rumple gone? They were on opposite sides: Good vs. Evil, Black & White vs. Grey, literally Light vs. Dark One. So what if she, wanting everything all dandy in the world, went and told Bae that he and "Papa" could LEAVE and NEVER, return to a place with NO MAGIC. Wow, "alarm bells" anyone? Or is it just me, and a few people on IMDb.com?
I think it's just kinda funny how every person from FTL is at fault for SOMETHING that led to the curse being cast, or at least some type of tragedy happening to someone else, i.e. Snow telling Cora bout' Daniel: Daniel dead, Red eating Peter (gross AND sad): run away w/ Snow, Rumple trusting Zoso: everything.
As for the TIMELINE, I find everything easy to figure out as far as when things happened. So yes, Rumple met Belle centuries (we could argue around 100 years later) after he lost Bae. Proof: Belle found Bae's clothes in one of Rumple's Castle rooms.
I guess August is Pinocchio, which I'm not necessarily disappointed with. I really don't mind. The clue's have ALL been pointing in that direction... I just want it to be one epic story we're being told.

I would agree (with maybe the exception of Tony Soprano, lol). Rumple is a very interesting character for sure.
In a way, last Sunday's episode reminded me of the Mad Hatter one - both fathers were cut off from their children.

Good point. Lol, can you imagine how weird it would be if the fairytale side was the one in sequential order, and the modern side had the mixed-up timeline? I get a headache just thinking about it.

Oh ya, huh? Their are a LOT of parent-child separations on this show, so many that I won't even bother to list them. How sad...

Is that one more episode this season, or one more for the entire series?? I certainly hope it's coming back!

I'm glad you found us here! You should stick around. This whole group is great. :)

I hate waiting!
I'm going to go watch tonight's episode right now, since I had to DVR it. :)

You're on imdb.com? What's your name on their? I have an account but I can't comment, but I am literally ALWAYS on the Once Upon a Time boards:) (And ya, a lot of new-comers have been trolling the site lately.)

And wow! I never thought of this: "It would be ever crazier if they got taken back to FTL still without their FTL memories. via Astrat911 on TV Line" That would be crazy cool... and scary! But I'm still thinking they might all go a little crazy if they all remember, like Jefferson, and be very desperate people like Gold and August.
Finally! I was wondering what could make her hate snow so much. I'm really liking this episode.
