Listening to instrumental music is a cool idea. Never thought of it. I read better when there's light noise in the background. I'm gonna have to try that...☺️

I'll normally read with indie, light-sounding kind of music. For instance, stuff by Sleeping At Last (specifically in my playlist, I have "Uneven Odds", "Light", "You Wouldn't Like Me". I rarely play music while I read, the only reason I do is to drown out other noises (i.e. when some is eating near me or if people are talking and I can't concentrate). Instrumental is always good. I like to go classic with that, like Mozart or Bach (if I'm reading like school literature).
Other songs I'd listen to are pretty mellow and could belong in a movie setting, i.e. Blood by The Middle East (which was in Crazy, Stupid, Love) and it's so soothing. Also, "Suego Faults" by Wolf Gang. It really helps that most of the songs in my playlists I get from television shows I watch.
Oasis (+ Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds), Florence and the Machine, Death Cab for Cutie are also really great options to look into. Same with Birdy (I recommend "Shadow").
I was so attached to 'of Monsters and Men ' , listening to every single songot them on the row . Such a great fit to reading !
I don’t always listen to music, but when I do, it has to be instrumental. 8tracks has some great playlists. I also like Adrian von Ziegler’s youtube channel.
If I have music on, it typically is something lighter, ; in we Vivaldi or Bach. I might choose some quiet jazz.
I tend to listen to music with as few lyrics as possible, or with lyrics in a language I don't understand. I really like deadmau5 for reading student essays, but Dave Brubeck is great for reading historical fiction.
Prefer to listen to instrumental musics but it has to be themed with the novel that I'm reading so it feels like I'm part of the story.
