SOLVED A dying Old storyteller gathers around his kids (or where they?) which tell him seven different stories [s]

Hi there, I have been having trouble remembering the name of a book or even the author, my friend told me about this book saying its great a couple of years ago, about an Old man, in an eastern or a middle eastern environment I cant quite remember, he is the oldest story teller in town, dying he gathers around him seven of his kids (I cant quite remember where they seven kids or just seven storytellers) and each one tells him a story...

I remember him saying something about one story of the seven located in new york maybe...

I know it's too vague a description but any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks =)

Did one of the stories have of the Undying Man?

thanks but sadly no, the tiger's wife is 2011 release, the book I am looking for is an early 2000s release, MAYBE 2003 or 2004, something like that...
