For the last hour I've kept getting this error message:
1 error prohibited this book from being saved

There were problems with the following fields:
Author is empty

When obviously I've filled in the author column. I tried with one author, two author, all with the same result.

I wonder if anyone experiences the same thing?

one other thing.
I kept getting the same error message even after I delete the goodreads cookies and sign-out then sign-in again.

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 2413 comments James,

I've noticed that when I manually add books, if I make a mistake or leave something out, the author field then becomes blank once again and I do have to re-enter the author's name, even if that wasn't the original mistake. So, if you get that errror message, I suggest that you check the author field and enter the author's name again if it's no longer there. This may not be the problem you're experiencing, but I thought I'd share this.

Hi Lisa, thanks for your input.
There's one incident in which I input greek-unicode characters on the title field. The rest, like author's name etc. are normal, except that there's no ISBN. The error message showed after I clicked save. After trying several times, I decided to delete the greek-unicode character from the title and it turned out okay. Only after the book data was completed and saved, I went back and edit the data, input the greek-unicode character into the title, then saved it, and it works.
I'm guessing it has to do with using the title as the name of the html page for the book (???); non-latin unicode characters can't be used to create filename (?). CMIIW.
I'm still having problem with inputting Indonesian titles and author names, as many Indonesians do not have surnames. I kept getting the same error message also, although I retyped again and again everytime the author field got blanked.

Cyn Coons (discarnate) | 1 comments I'm getting the same error when I try and add a book without an ISBN. The books titles are using regular characters, so I don't know where my error is coming in.

I'll try playing around with the title and see if that helps any.

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 2413 comments I've added lots of books without ISBNs with no problems. And I don't see how the Goodreads system would know a title with "regular" characters is "wrong." Could you explain more exactly what you do and what happens? Maybe that would help everybody help you figure it out Or, maybe this is one for Otis & Co.

We figured it out - we accidentally broke the manually add feature for new authors in last nights release. It shall be fixed shortly.
