Undo book merge or recover information

I just merged two editions of a book, one hardcover with a cover photo and description of the book, and the other a newer paperback with neither of the above. The newly merged book has no cover picture or description---ack! Where did these go? Can I get them back?

by the way, the book was Holiness by J.C. Ryle.
