Literally everybody at my school are like the opposite of bookworms, and make a rude comment when they see me reading in my free time, and they all are weirded out by the fact that I read. I would rather be who I am, and do what I like to do and be called a nerd than not read in front of people and not be called a nerd because I wasn't reading in front of people just for sheer pleasure.

Thats just like making fun of people watching TV or turning on their computer. Some people are so weirdos for making fun of other people just to read.

I am addicted to reading, so this program got me really excited and pumped.
SO ... in class on Mondays our english teacher asks us what book we are reading and what page number we our on.
On the first monday of the reading program I took up 5 min of class saying each book and page number that book ended on.
(which is usually about 5/6 books around 3,000 pages)
When i finished telling my teacher the page numbers each week, the whole class turns and looks at me like i have 3 heads. They ask me how i have the time, why i like reading, etc.
I don't think people call me a nerd but i definitely know everyone thinks i am different.
I still embrace my book addiction (and don't plan on quitting)
Even though most of the time i have a extreme book hangover ( the inability to function at school because i stayed up all night reading)
LOL

Same!
