Anyone who thinks that calling someone a nerd, geek, bookworm, etc. is an INSULT needs to check themselves before they wreck themselves. Kidding, but being a nerd or a bookworm is a wonderful thing and something to be proud of.

Well, i love to read and would consider myself a nerd, but, hey, is that really such a bad thing? It is true that reading often often connotes nerdiness. But it's not necessarily true. It depends. It does, however, make you a bookworm, which is a badge you should be proud to wear!!! Besides, being a nerd is good, non-nerds/ people who think it is bad to be a nerd: BEWARE!!! Be nice to nerds because someday you will be working from them! ;-)
Well, I read a lot, and I don't know if I classify as a nerd, but if reading all the time makes you a nerd, then I guess being a nerd's a good thing.
If it does then congratulations to us! Nerds(which sounds terribly derogatory) or geeks are words for intelligent to me. Or at least having a mental database of LotR, Sherlock, history, Star Wars, or related things of awesome. I take it as a compliment.Bravo to other geeks is what I say!
But I love lost, Star Trek, Star Wars, LOTR, marvel, comics, sooooo many movies and tv shows and books. I LOVE MOVIES AND TV SHOWS!!!!AND IM GOING TO THE PREMIRE OF THOR 2!!!! Dressed as Loki of coarse.
((I just really love movies, and want to be a director))
I believe someone who reads a lot of books is called 'nerd' only by people who don't understand what reading actually means, and unreached grapes are always sour:p So nope, reading a lot doesn't make you a nerd, rather it makes you really AWESOME, so much so that others become unconsciously jealous of you to call u a nerd XD (btw I like the sound of nerd)
Nope. A nerd is a stereotype for someone whose smart and reads a lot but I don't think it actually means anything
If you think of a nerd as a good thing then who cares!?!IM A NERD AND IM PROUD
Definition:
Nerd: a person who doesn't care what other people think of what you like.
Nerd implies a lack of social grace. When you read you improve vocabulary and have more stuff to talk about which makes you a better conversationalist. Boom!
"nerd |nərd|noun informal
a foolish or contemptible person who lacks social skills or is boringly studious
• an intelligent, single-minded expert in a particular technical discipline or profession"
As Frederator pointed out, reading can expand vocabularies and make for better conversation, disqualifying avid readers from their previous nerd status. However, this does not mean that all avid readers are not "boringly studious." Really, it depends on the reader. Being an avid reader does not automatically make someone a nerd (or not). Personalities will be the determiner of that. Reading alone is not enough to base nerd status on.
To most of my friends, yes it makes me a nerd, but a love-ble one. To everyone else, more of a social outcast ( but that may have to do with other things) to my GT classmate Higher reading score than you! To family completely normal reading amounts XD
Whatever. I like to think it does. I wear my title of nerd with pride. Gryffindor pride. Athena pride. NERDFIGHTER pride. I'm a proud nerd.
When someone calls me a nerd i say "who said i am not?". I ussually likes it when people calls me nerd. ;-)
I love being a nerd. It makes me who I am. If I wasn't a nerd part of me would be missing. Ok I'll be honest most of me would not be there. I mean if you're not a nerd, what life do u have? If I wasn't a nerd, I would have no life. I'd be a very dull person. So being a nerd is a wonderfully awesome thing. Exept when you totaly nerd off about something and the person you're talking to gives you a blank stare. Then it gets awkward.
NERDS SHALL RULE THE WORLD SOMEDAY!!!!!

Reading actually makes you smarter not weirder nor stupid. And you should also ignore people and do what you think is right and what you love.
I don't know it it does or does not, but being a nerd means that you're smart, so hey! I'm perfectly fine with being a nerd!
Fox ~The Muse~ wrote: "Reading totally makes you a nerd because NERDS ARE ACTUALLY THE COOLEST AND SMARTEST."Yeah.
Arbaaz wrote: "When someone calls me a nerd i say "who said i am not?". I ussually likes it when people calls me nerd. ;-)"I feel the same way Arbaaz
I'm a proud nerd and geek. Geek is mostly used for people into computers and Star Wars and all. Nerd is someone who reads lots of books and I guess someone who's smart. Problem is that I fall into both those categories with the traits I just named. So I use both or just refer to myself as a fangirl.
