Natasha I know I posted it as the Philosopher's Stone, but choose your favourite moment in all the books.
Mine would have to be the end of the first one, when Harry is still young and carefree, and Gryffindor wins the house cup, because there is just so much happiness in that moment, and it is wonderful. :')

Jaykumar B there are almost many, however for me it is the one where :
“Dumbledore watched her fly away, and as her silvery glow faded he turned back to Snape, and his eyes were full of tears.
"After all this time?"
"Always," said Snape.”

it proves how grey and dense Snape's character is...

When Molly WEasley says, "Not my Daughter You Bitch!"

Kelly "Tell me one last thing," said Harry. "Is this real? Or has this all been happening inside my head?"
Dumbledore beamed at him, and his voice sounded loud and strong in Harry's ears, even though a bright mist was descending again, obscuring his vision.
"Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?"

LOVE that

Rebecca All the chapters with Winky and Dobby and the other elfs in the kitchens

Ana Sofía When Harry kisses Ginny when she wins the Quidditch Cup

Michael When Neville confides in Harry.

Claire V Mine is in the first or something, it was, "What happened down in the dungeons between you and Voldemort was a complete secret, so naturally, the whole school knows." -From Dumbledore

very true. I love that part. It's where you realize how amazing Snape truly is.

Kelly It's from the Kings Cross chapter in the last book :D

Alya When Harry walks off into the Forbidden Forest in the last book. That was one of the saddest parts in the whole series for me.

Especially this quote:
"...but he could not see any of the people he loved, no hint of Hermione, Ron, Ginny, or any of the other Weasleys, no Luna. He felt he would have given all the time remaining to him for just one last look at them; but then, would he ever have the strength to stop looking?"

Jessica Wow, what a tough question! It's so hard to say- I wish I could pick a moment that defines each book for me. I totally broke down when Dobby died in the 7th and Rowling writes about how for Harry, it didn't matter any of the difference between them, he was losing a friend.

I also agree with Jaykumar about Snape in the 7th because it's the real upsetter; you never expected it and I feel it really provided the true essence of Snape in a single scene.

Then, of course, Alya makes a great point with her quote about Harry and his time in the Forbidden Forest, thinking about his friends. I do love the scene following with his parents and Sirius and how they say they'll stay with him until the end.

Too good. Too freakin good.

Richie love the part where Fred and George leaves Hogwarts. <3
"Give her hell from us, Peeves."
<3 <3

Natasha All you guys are putting these comments and I keep changing my mind about which is my favourite. They're just all so amazing. My conclusion? The whole series is my favourite moment. :D

Hibah K Although there are many, many moments in the books that I keep going back to and reading, I have to say that my favorite is when Sirius and Lupin's connection to James and Peter is finally revealed at the climax of Prisoner of Azkaban.

Prisoner of Azkaban was the first Harry Potter book that I read. I had seen the first movie when it came out and mostly forgot about it. A few years later I was at my cousin's house, bored and unable to sleep. I picked up the book she had been reading out of desperation. It happened to be that book.

Several hours later, I was STILL reading it when I came to that part. It was such an OH CRAP moment for me. It was at that point that I became hooked. :)

Leana What I love best in Harry Potter series is the BOOK 3. Some may call it a cliche but it reminds me of family bonding. It is where in Harry who thought that he really has no relative and everything but when Sirius Black came into the scene who was thought to has started the cause of losing his parents turned out to be his REAL caring GOD FATHER. Atlast, he has finally found someone to be called his Guardian. I love that part. It was really a tear jerker for me.

-hainekhen- I love the whole chapter about Snape in the last book...I still haven't seen the last movie so I don't know how they had depicted it...but anyway it's just so...sad...especially the part where he asked Harry to look at him and see Lily's eyes for one last time...that part made me cry...his love story is the best love story in the book...

I think you'll be very pleased with the movie depiction. I thought Alan Rickman was wonderful and compelling and I cried with the montage of memories that they pieced together to show Snape's true self.

Trust me, you'll like it. If not love it!

Miriam When Hagrid gave Harry Hedwig the beautiful snowy owl. Also Harry swallowing the snitch n his 1st qudditch match.

This too was one of my favorite parts of the series.

Miriam When Hagrid gave Harry James Potter a snowy Owl that he named HEDWIG

Carly when Harry thinks he's about to die and his mum, dad, Sirius and others come around him giving him words of encouragement! I cried a little! :(

Arti All the Hermione scenes

Antony Lee idk

Jordan My all time favorite part is in... i think the 6th book, when Ron takes the love potion. Ron: "It's no joke! I'm in love with her!"
Harry: "Alright, fine, you're in love with her! Have you ever actually met her?"
Ron: "No. Can you introduce me?"
— Ron Weasley declares his Love Potion-induced feelings for Romilda Vane to Harry Potter. I realize that that's the movie but it's my all time favorite.

Laura LUV how Hermione punch Malfoy!!:D

Wayward Child There were a lot of amazing and unforgetable moments and scenes in all seven books, but if I had to chose one, than it would probably be the final scene in the deathly hallows, the big closure, the battle for Hogwarts. I don`t think they`ve made a very good scene in the movie, but hopefully, if anyone ever decides to make a remake in some fifteen years time, they`ll do a better job at bringing to life this awesome, powerful and very emotional scene. And, I hope they`ll make it last. This one was just too short and shallow for such a great scene.

Chris Yeung when dobby came

Miriam My fave scene n harry potter is when he catches the snitch with his mouth.

message 36: by Mary (new) - rated it 4 stars

Mary When they sing the school song. I think the movie guys missed a guaranteed laugh by not including a roomfull of students singing in any key, any tune, any tempo and Dumbledore wiping away a tear saying "I just love that song".

Glinda the Gallifreyan Well, the whole first book is just classic in my mind. So, the first book. "Nitwit, oddment, blubber, tweak," everyone! BEsides the first, there's all the classic Dumbledore and Hermione scenes. The Dumbledore scenes already mentioned are the best examples, as are when Hermione punches Malfoy. Awesomeness! To quote the first book, "Where's the cannon?"

Alice Novinte When Harry tells Ron that he didn't really give him the felix felicis because Ron thought thats why he did so well in the quidditch match and then everyone is just so hapy.

Alice Novinte Abby wrote: "when ron comes back because he heared hermiones voice <3" yeah i like that part too

Chelsea Clifton Favorite moments.. I can't choose just one.. I'm sorry. Here are my lists:

5. The Prophecy in Ddore's Office (5th book)
4. Kreacher talking about going into the cave. (7th book)
3. Neville pulling the sword out of the hat (7th book)
2. Narcissa asking of Draco was still alive. (7th book)
1. Snape yelling, "DONT CALL ME A COWARD!!" (6th book)

message 43: by Arti (new) - rated it 5 stars

Arti i like 2

message 44: by D. (new) - rated it 5 stars

D. River I will also choose the moment in Book 7 when Harry was marching alone to sacrifice himself to Voldemort. When James and Lily and Sirius and Remus all appeared, my heart ached. And Harry, all of 17, asking if it would hurt to die. That moment was the purest, simplest bit of heroism in any of the books, in my opinion. He completely accepted his destiny.

Ana Sofía ahhh...yes. That was a very deep moment in the book.

message 46: by Sema (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sema “We'll be there, Harry," said Ron
"What?"
"At your Aunt and Uncle's house," said Ron, "And then we'll go with you wherever you're going."
"No-" said Harry quickly; he hadn't counted on this, he had meant them to understand that he was undertaking the most dangerous journey alone.
"You said it once before," said Hermione quickly, "that there was time to turn back if we wanted to. We've had time, haven't we? We're with you whatever happens.”

Best. Moment. Ever.

Albus Best moment:

The duel between Dumbledore and Voldemort at the end of book 5.

Danielle. I don't have a favourite. Throughout the series was just amazing, I was left speechless and wanting more after I finished a book.

message 49: by Kim (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kim One of my favorite scenes EVER was in Chamber of Secrets when Harry plunged the sword of Gryffindor into the basilisk's mouth. Effing EPIC.

message 50: by Vipula (new)

Vipula Oh mine would be when ummm ummm.... When hermione looks breathtaking in the goblet of fire and the three of them dance but ron is mourning because he is jealous with hermione's date. But is not accepting it.
There is so much of child like feeling in that scene, no tensions about Voldemort and all. Its a very nice scene.
And the most touching scenes were when DUMBELDORE and CEDRIC were killed.... Uwww..... I nearly cried... :-(
