Belkis (bminaya) | 603 comments Yes, that's supposed to be the premise behind it. So you're absolutely correct. I have a copy of it but have yet to read it. Let me know how you like it. I actually have all of Sarah Addison's books in my TBR pile LOL! I swear that list just keeps growing and growing.

I'm starting the third book of this series as soon as it comes in at the library. It took me about halfway through Uglies to get into the series. Halfway through the book soooo many action scenes start happening and it is a lot more interesting. The author's writing is kind of strange especially in the second book where he makes up a new language. It's kind of annoying at first, but I personally was able to overlook that because I liked the plot and the characters so much.

Specials (Uglies, #3) by Scott Westerfeld

Yes, I noticed that there was more action starting at that point. But I still didn't feel it as much as I would have liked. Perhaps I will like the next book better? I have it on hold at my library. So I will read it and see if I want to continue with the series.

I really liked it, but at the same time I wanted to bitch slap Valerie for her selfishness, but by the end of the book she grew on me and I liked her. Plus I'm glad there's a realistic fiction book that touches base on a school shooting instead of drugs, sex, etc. because sometimes it gets tiring and repetitive.

Getting ready to read We Need to Talk About Kevin

I am a mother of two young children and just the blurb literally took the very breath right out of me. Interested to know if any parents out there have read it and what they thought.

"Eva never really wanted to be a mother—and certainly not the mother of the unlovable boy who murdered seven of his fellow high school students, a cafeteria worker, and a much-adored teacher who tried to befriend him, all two days before his sixteenth birthday. Now, two years later, it is time for her to come to terms with marriage, career, family, parenthood, and Kevin's horrific rampage in a series of startlingly direct correspondences with her estranged husband, Franklin. Uneasy with the sacrifices and social demotion of motherhood from the start, Eva fears that her alarming dislike for her own son may be responsible for driving him so nihilistically off the rails."

((I also read The Host not to long ago. Was not a fan at all of Stephanie Meyers when she came out with Twilight. I bought this book got it home and realized it was by her. I was almost disgusted with myself. By I told myself to read the first chapter, just the first few pages. 7 intense hours later I finished the book and found a new love for Ms. Meyers))
