I'm not particularly into fantasy, but I've recently read The Rage of Dragons, by Evan Winter-really enjoyed it. It's the story of warring tribes and the journey of a young boy who witnessed the execution of his father, vowing revenge and how this became his motivation to "... become the greatest swordsman to ever live." The interesting aspect of this book to me was how, Tau, the MC, struggled with the internal conflict we all struggle with, self-interest vs. family/group interests. Read it-really good.
