really good series. can't wait to pick up the next book from the library!!
I just started reading a thriller called Bad Chemistry by Gary Krist. So far it has been very good--it's about a woman whose husband goes missing.
Currently I'm reading Heat Lightning by John Sandford, who is one of my favorite authors. It's the second in his Virgil Flowers series and in it Flowers is trying to track down a serial killer who has a peculiar signature. So far I've been enjoying it.

down as i have much more entertaining books to read and this one is due back at the library. shame cause i really did want to learn more about the awesome Stephen Fry, maybe i'll just stick to his documentaries - or hire out his audio book, he does have such a wonderful voice. but then i wouldnt get the pictures, sigh.

Just started
after smashing through
just last night in a few hours. Only problem is i believe my two reading buddies are still on book 1..... oops. In my defense the series is bloody addictive and they can both read faster than me!! (last time we checked) and i started late!! haha. But one hasnt read past Embrace the Night (we're re-reading) so i suppose I'll have to wait for her to catch up before i can move onto Curse the DawnI suppose i can read my other library books in the mean time.

Mike Johnson, a veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, has returned home to Los Angeles. Suffering from a severe case of PTSD he is unable to find work in law enforcement, so he has to settle for a job with a security agency that protects the rich and famous. He feigns an interest in developing contacts in the movie industry and becoming an actor to deflect questions regarding his psychological state.
Unfortunately for Mike, just as he begins his duties as guardian of the stars a mysterious cannibalistic cult of celebrity stalkers embarks on a campaign of terror against them. Our protagonist finds himself powerless to protect his charges from the slaughter inflicted by a foe even more relentless and resourceful than those he faced overseas. As their brutal tactics erode what little is left of his damaged psyche, contempt for his decadent masters grows within him.
About James Nowlan:
James Nowlan was born in Chicago but raised by backwoods hillbillies. Somehow he ended up living in Europe (he thinks that maybe someone hit him over the head and took him there in a sack). The only job he could find was a post as a security guard in the housing projects around Paris (a job they'd give to anyone because at the time ruthless, well organized bands of robbers were attacking armored cars with RPGs, AK 47s, and plastic explosives). These experiences served as inspiration for an autobiographical novella entitled Security. He's also written and directed Killavision, a feature length, trash gore satire of reality TV. Killebrity is his first novel.

and must admit to not being super impressed. For me it seem like this book was trying to be as magical and interesting and Beauty of the Broken and just failed miserably.also had a weird no comma thing going on as well. But it was easy enough for me to guess what people were saying without it. just something that stood out for me.

Finished Reading: 
Empire of Fear: Inside the Islamic State which is a good overall history of how the Islamic State came to be and how different world events affected them, pretty interesting and exceeding scary, definitely worth a read 4 stars.
Psychopath Free (Expanded Edition): Recovering from Emotionally Abusive Relationships With Narcissists, Sociopaths, and Other Toxic People Wow, this was eye opening in light of my most recent relationship, I definitely recommend that anyone who has been dubbed sensitive or an empathy at the very least read the intro and the 30 red flags of toxic people. 4 stars.
Becoming Beyoncé: The Untold Story Which is a Biography about Beyonce', it kind of feels like a gossip magazine a bit. It had a great layout and flow though. Although it is told more from the point of view of those around Beyonce' as opposed to being from herself it makes is unique. Overall though it was entertaining. 4 stars
Confessions of a Deathmaiden which was recommended to me and is a definitely different kind of mystery. It is very uniquely written and the descriptions are very original. It was a bit weird, but very different from a lot of things that I normally read. Some of the last half of the book and experience felt a bit rushed so I gave it 4 stars, but definitely worth checking out. 
The Case of Lisandra P.. Oh my gosh it was so shocking in the ending, but such an amazing journey. It was translated by an Argentinian author and a murder mystery/suspense. I give it 5 stars, highly recommend. Currently Reading:

Geisha, a Life which I was intrigued by due to my fascination with geishas and the fact that this was Mineko Iwasaki's response to Arthur Golden's Memoirs of a Geisha and is VASTLY different in the background information of the two stories. This book was really good and VERY different from memoirs of a Geisha. It actually makes me wonder how he got that story from the same woman haha. I give it a solid 4 stars.Still reading.

A Natural History of Dragons which started out delightfully well and unfortunately slowed WAAAY down. I loved the parts of the story with action, but it was almost painful to get to those points, I felt like the drab events in between just drug on for far too long. The drawings were superb, but I actually struggled to finish this one, and can't award it more than 3 stars. Still reading.
