My picks for them are Clive Owen (Colum) and Gerard Butler (Dougal).

I look at Clives face and I see the soft dove gray eyes and the seriousness of Colum McKenzie.

Dougal is a prick, but he's also sarcastically funny. I haven't seen someone who I think could pull off his mix of cunning and charm like Gerard Butler.

And they totally look like they could be brothers! I was surprised by how many people had down images of them side by side saying the same thing.

Carren Kay | 953 comments Wendy: As much as I agree with you on this, I'm still afraid that they will cast Gerard Butler as Jamie, too old or not.

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments I know that the majority of the population would be happy with this, but I really hope he's not.

I love Butler, and he's so sexy. If he were younger I could get past the fact that he looks nothing like Diana's description. But he's way too old, and I'd be ticked if they aged Jamie just to fit the actor.

Carren Kay | 953 comments It's too bad that the casting people don't read this thread. I hope you're right about this, but something is just nagging me. I really hope I'm wrong. I would be so relieved.

Sara (saragr) | 96 comments As much as I love me some Gerard Butler, I wouldn't be happy if they picked him for Jamie, even if he was the right age. But I see him as someone like Dougal, like you guys. And I love that website, Totally Looks Like.com. Soooo funny. :)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments I've never seen that website before, I may have to go check it out.

Julie | 34 comments I've always thought Sean Bean would be perfect as Dougal and Geri would make a great Jamie - the age thing will be a problem though. Below are some icons I've made (I was kind of into this for a while way back and made tons of these of Outlander characters)

Gerry could be a Roger too!

Peggyzbooksnmusic Julie....These are great icons! Now I know where you got the picture on your blog :)

When Sean Bean was much younger, I imagined him as Stephen Bonnet. His hair used to be much lighter, plus he can do a great Irish accent (Stormy Monday, The Field and Patriot Games)

Peggy, thanks, I went through a phase in casting Jamie and making icons, I have an Outlander icon journal will all of them at LiveJournal - bygone days! LOL!

My header at my blog is my own creation. I made Gerry from Attila into my own version of Jamie while rescuing Claire at Craig Muir!

now if only when or if they make the movie or mini-series, they will use our suggestions for the cast!

In my kindle version of Cross stitch, Colum is written Callum. Does anyone have any idea why the spelling was changed?

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments I don't remember exactly what was said, but DG does explain it. I'm sure it's googleable. :) If someone finds it, post it in here!

Zoey (rozannen) | 229 comments That was one of the few differences between the US version (Outlander) & the UK version (Cross Stitch)
Check out Karen Henrys Outlandish Observations website for all the differences.
