This story takes place in Afghanistan. There are two main characters Rahim Khan and Khaled Hosseini. khaled is the main character who grew up in the better area of Afghanistan he never really sees what life is like until he walks with his friend Rahim and sees the way life really is for the other citizens of Afghanistan and when tragedy strikes him. The problem that Rahim is dealing with is the world around him in Afghanistan.
