Finnick's death!!

message 204: by Dani (last edited Mar 24, 2012 09:58AM) (new) - rated it 1 star

Dani I would change all of the third book. I feel Mockingjay ruined the whole trilogy for me. That is just my opinion on it.

message 205: by Kittykat4508 (new) - added it

Kittykat4508 Not killing Prim and Rue, that made me cry the whole entire time.

message 206: by Liz (new) - rated it 2 stars

Liz I'd changed most of Mockingjay. It needs serious expansion; most everything in the book is tell instead of show and it all needs to be fleshed out. I'd give poor Katniss back her backbone, as well.

message 207: by [deleted user] (new)

katniss would fall in love with gale!!!

message 208: by Ascel (new) - rated it 3 stars

Ascel Kadhem I hated when Prim died, she didn't get a proper death scene. I really wanted to cry and feel very sad for Prim, but I didn't feel *that* sad when she died, which bothered me.

message 209: by [deleted user] (new)

ikr!

message 210: by Anna (new) - rated it 5 stars

Anna Ughhh okay either Prim's death or Finnicks and i would change when Spoiler!! they asked all of them if they wanted to have another hunger games i would have had them say no not yes i felt that for katniss to say yes it ruined the whole point

message 211: by Irene (new) - rated it 3 stars

Irene i like the thought of katniss dying. that would have made it intresting.

message 212: by Kirby (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kirby Anna wrote: "Ughhh okay either Prim's death or Finnicks and i would change when Spoiler!! they asked all of them if they wanted to have another hunger games i would have had them say no not yes i felt that for ..."

I (and at least a few other people) don't think katniss or haymitch really meant for there to be another game...it's thought that katniss was just making sure that coin didn't distrust her (even more) so that she'd have a better chance of killing her.

message 213: by Leah (new) - rated it 5 stars

Leah Jodi wrote: "AGREED! NO DEATH FOR FINNICK!
And Cinna...-.-"

YES YES YES

message 214: by Kayla (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kayla Prim, Finnick, and Cinna shouldn't have died. Gale should've had a happier ending, which he would've if Prim didn't die. I also think that Katniss should be happier (which she would be if Prim, Finnick, and Cinna didn't die) and not be so mentally unstable. I understand she's scarred, she should be, but she should be a little more...accepting of her life, I guess, or more so embrace it. She's free, and she should be happier about it.

message 215: by Dina (new) - rated it 4 stars

Dina Omar If I could I would probably want a little more detail in Finnick and Cinna's deaths. And a bit more info on what exactly happened to Gale. But I think the ending, although really sad, was good because anyone put in that situation can't ever really come back sane.

Morgane Valerie wrote: "I wouldn't change anything, except maybe the fact Katniss wanted another Hunger Games. :v That seemed out of character for her, and it's the only flaw in the trilogy.

Katniss didn't want another Hunger Game, it was just a trick to see if Coin really was as evil as Snow. For her it was the proof that some aspects of the revolution were just as bad as the dictature. That's why she killed her at the end: she wouldn't have if she agreed for another Game (because indeed it's everything se fought against). :)

Morgane Wishing that a character hadn't died is fine, I couldn't bear some of the deaths in Mockinjay either.
But to wish a silly happy ending with everyone alive and happy, and sometimes wishing that Katniss would have ended up with Gale, is misunderstanding the whole series, its messages and life in general.
Gale is a great character and maybe you like this kind of guy in real life, but Peeta is perfect for Katniss, period.

Jennifer Lawrence is gorgeous, and more importantly, she is a wonderful actress. Maybe you imagined Katniss differently in the book (I did too), but it doesn't mean the actress didn't do a wonderful job in the movie. I would even say that the actors in movies are pretty much always more beautiful than the "regular" people they're portraying. If anything, she's more beautiful that Katniss ought to be.

message 219: by Rachel (new) - rated it 4 stars

Rachel Peeta should have died and Katniss should have ended up with Gale, but she was never really happy again and Finnick not dying of course.

message 220: by Harold (new) - rated it 2 stars

Harold Smithson I would remove the love triangle and write a better romance. Gale could stay, but I think he would be better off as a close friend instead of a love interest.

message 221: by ashley (last edited Oct 23, 2015 03:44PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

ashley I don't think Finnick should have died. He had such a rough life and he deserved a happy ending.

Morgane Ashley wrote: "I don't think Finnick should of died. He had such a rough life and he deserved a happy ending."

I agree!
On another note, it's "should have".

message 223: by Alis (new) - rated it 4 stars

Alis ,the story traveller Makayla wrote: "I give a better ending for Gale, and NOT KILL OFF FINNICK!!!! What was the point in that??"

Agreed!!!!

message 224: by Mirou (new) - rated it 5 stars

Mirou Finnick wouldn't die. In fact, I heard that in the last movie, they are not going to make him die.
But prim's death is necessary to the whole story, I wouldn't sadly change that. Otherwise, it would be a happy ever after like in a fairytale, and what I loved in the Hunger Games is that we did't actually have that.

message 225: by [deleted user] (new)

Finnick, Prim, and Cinna should still be with us. Also, I would change Katniss's choice for another Hunger Games. That was too out of character.

message 226: by Ali (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ali I hated the ending of Mockingjay. Gale would have never left Katniss in District 12. Katniss and Gale were always meant to be together, not Peeta. Peeta's nice and all, BUT HE RUINED THE WHOLE STORY FOR ME! I was super upset about Cinna and Finnick's death, but most of all, I am devastated that Prim dies. I am not happy with this ending!

Christa Farris I think Gale should have stayed in district 12. Also, Prim and Finnick shouldn't have died

message 228: by Ali (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ali SAME!

message 229: by Ali (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ali And I think that Peeta should have been assigned to a different district but still have a very happy ending and fall in love with someone else!!!!

Christa Farris I think Gale should've stayed in district 12 but fallen in love with someone else

message 231: by Izzy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Izzy I would say that I would change nothing, but there were too many deaths in the last book. If I had it my way, Prim, Finnick and Cinna would still be alive.

message 232: by ashley (new) - rated it 5 stars

ashley Hungergames19 wrote: "I would say that I would change nothing, but there were too many deaths in the last book. If I had it my way, Prim, Finnick and Cinna would still be alive."

Yeah but it's war and deaths will happen and no character is safe. I agree with you on Finnick, he should have stayed alive. Although for Prim and Cinna I felt their deaths were necessary. Without the deaths of the characters we love, the books wouldn't have felt as real. :(

message 233: by Ali (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ali I agree that Cinna's death was necessary, but not Prim's and Finnick's.

message 234: by Nikita (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nikita Finnick and Prim live!

message 235: by Shani (new) - rated it 2 stars

Shani Dayo Why do You think this? Katniss truthfully isn't highly intelligent, a good actress, or a deep thinker. I think She was just emotionally broken over Her sister's death, and would do anything to get back at the People who She believed were responsible. There is also no implication that Katniss agreed to the final games for the sole purpose to kill Coin, at all. I think it was a spur of the moment choice, to shoot the greater of the two evils when the moment came.

message 236: by Cintia (new) - rated it 4 stars

Cintia Finnick and Prim's deaths (and Cinna's of course). Apparently all of us want the same thing...

Georgia Low *SPOILERS*
All of the things I would change would be in Mockingjay.
I wouldn't have killed off Prim or Finnick.
I wouldn't have mad Katniss as annoying as she was in last book. (I know PTSD and I got that but I still thought she was kinda whinny)
I would have had Gale and Katniss stay friend.
I would have kept Peeta and Katniss be a bit stronger than it was (I know Peeta was brainwashed, but still...)
I think that's it...
I wasn't the biggest fan of the last book...

message 238: by Rachel (new) - rated it 5 stars

Rachel Valerie wrote: "I wouldn't change anything, except maybe the fact Katniss wanted another Hunger Games. :v That seemed out of character for her, and it's the only flaw in the trilogy."

She didn't want one out of revenge, she voted yes to appear to be on Coin's side as the whole time she's been ignoring orders. Katniss was attempting to gain an ounce of her trust back and also it helped her in getting what she wanted, the chance to kill Snow which as we know she used as a chance to kill the other new dictator being Coin.

message 239: by Rachel (new) - rated it 5 stars

Rachel Harleen wrote: "i dont like the girl whos playing katniss in the movie i imagined her prettier like not to be mean but u no...."

Firstly, Jennifer Lawrence is beautiful. Let's just start with that.

Secondly, why should our strong protagonist be the typical hollywood heart throb? Isn't it far more interesting to learn about her emotions and strength and resilience and fall in love with the character that way rather than give her a pretty face for girls to aspire too?

Rachel esthermarie wrote: "I don't think I would change anything, because while I wished Finnick, Cinna and Prim would've lived, war doesn't discriminate and it wipes out anyone who gets in its way. War also changes people (..."

Completely agree.

Rachel Rachel wrote: "Sara wrote: "I'm not sure why exactly, but the end bothered me for some reason :("

i felt that way 2 when they were talking about their kids it didn't feel right not sure why though ??"

I just wanted to see a bit more of Katniss & Peeta really connecting. Maybe another kiss would have sealed it for me or something like that. Then again I also liked how it could be portraying that their love is deeper and more meaningful than just public displays of affection.

message 242: by Rachel (new) - rated it 5 stars

But without all these things you have a lesser threat from the Capitol and less reasons for Katniss to keep fighting? Although most of things are incredibly unpleasant and in a sense we all wish they hadn't happened, they were crucial to this story being so incredible.

AGREED WHOLEHEARTEDLY. THANK YOU! Finally someone who gets it!

message 244: by Rhi (new) - added it

Rhi i would change who died. i would have had gale die instead of prim. i would have peeta's designer die instead of Cinna. i would change the people i liked die to people i dont really like.

message 245: by [deleted user] (new)

If I could change anything it would be that no one good dies except Gale

message 246: by [deleted user] (new)

RIP FINNICK HE IS THE GREATEST BOOK CHARACTER EVER

message 247: by Ojas (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ojas I would definitely want Primrose and Finnick to be alive.
