If you could change anything in The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay, what would you change?

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) So you think Peeta and Enobaria should of stayed in the Capitol? And when you say "Katniss and Peeta's marriage" do you mean the one Peeta said they had during the interview? It never does mention marriage in the epilogue.

Emily Nobody seems to like how President Snow died, I actually didn't have a problem with it. It showed how life doesn't always have to work out perfectly and exactly how you expect it. Not every villan has to be practically immortal, it made Snow just another human being instead of some all-powerful being.

The Unicorn Riding Faerie[Vee] NO DEATH FOR FINNICK AND CINNA ALSO, TO KNOW WHAT GALE'S END IS!!!

Danacy Say Makayla wrote: "I give a better ending for Gale, and NOT KILL OFF FINNICK!!!! What was the point in that??"

I agree. I thought Gale was given the short straw. Nothing happened for him in the end and I wanted Finnick to live.

if you changed all these things, the book wouldnt at all be the same.

yes it will. just change some minor details and it would be the perfect story. change some relationships, some deaths, the way people die, and it would be the best thing ever. although it is a good book just the way it is, but there is always a different version to everything.

message 158: by Monica (new) - rated it 1 star

Monica The entire mockingjay book needed to be changed.

message 159: by Noname (new)

Noname if gale had better ending, Finnick really should have lived, Cinna i don't personally mind, but the main thing that would have made the book better would be if there was more action and less of all the characters being depressed, and prim really should have lived.

message 160: by Erin (new) - rated it 5 stars

Erin I think all the thing Collins did made the story the way they were and from the begining events causes these events like life. I wouldnt change a thing because I thought the books were completley perfect!

message 161: by Katya (new) - rated it 5 stars

Katya I would change Finnick and Cinna's death. I don't think it affected the book in any way, so what was the point??

message 162: by Erin (new) - rated it 5 stars

Erin Well they might have been another reason for Katniss's stonger beleif in the rebillion, we never know. :D

message 163: by Erika (new) - rated it 4 stars

Erika I would change the love triangle, I would make Gale stay like Katniss' best friend and that's it, no secret love, no liking eachother, no nothing, just friendship :)

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) That would be nice. I don't understand why a boy and girl can't just be friends anymore.

Kayla I wish Prim hadn't died. i guess it was an exciting part, but then what was the point of Katniss going into the hunger games if prim dies in the end anyway? although I guess she did change the lives of millions of people.

Nya Tomlinson-Horan-Malik-Payne-Styles Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) wrote: "So you think Peeta and Enobaria should of stayed in the Capitol? And when you say "Katniss and Peeta's marriage" do you mean the one Peeta said they had during the interview? It never does mention ..."

they are married. and yes, they should have stayed in the capitol.

message 167: by Donna (new)

Donna Royston I would have changed the ending of Hunger Games. It had built to such an amazing climax. And then, when they're about to commit suicide, refusing to fight each other, and there's this incredible, riveting situation where the whole world is watching and the authorities realize what's about to happen and it's not going to be good for the government, and they reverse course -- what could have made the story even more stunning?-- They should have gone ahead and swallowed the poison, knowing that they were dealing a blow that would eventually turn the world against the games. Instead, they spat out the poison. What a letdown.
Frankly, I thought it was time for Katniss to go. Her debates over which guy she wanted were, um, pretty uninteresting to me. It was time for other characters (Peeta, Prim, etc) to take the lead in the struggle and the next book. You can't keep using the same character in repetitious struggles. She could have died magnificently.
I knew at that moment that the sequels wouldn't wow me like the first book.

Clove's death. That girl was pure evil and should have suffered much more than what she got (even thought what she got was pretty awful) I wish her death was more like Cato's and was long and painful. I'm just a terrible person >=)

Haha ok good because my friend said I was evil for wishing such an awful thing

message 171: by Katie (new) - rated it 4 stars

Katie i have never really cried in a book before, other than the final HP.
ohmygod.

there isn't much i would change. i really wish Katniss wasn't in and out of the hospital every 10 minutes and that really made me mad. I wanted to see her character develop more.
the ending was perfect, because it showed that they are all still fucked up and it isn't like "happy ever after"

there were alot of loose ends tho. like, WTF was with Gale? it was so out of character for him to just leave. although i started really disliking him by the end of Mockingjay he totally deserved a better send off.
i'm glad Peeta was hijacked (however i cried and cried and cried) because it gave him more flaws, although it really upset me haha.

FINNICK. OMG. i was so upset... thats all i really have to say.

completly agree, it was pointless

Allison Makayla wrote: "I give a better ending for Gale, and NOT KILL OFF FINNICK!!!! What was the point in that??"

Yes! Seriously, he just got married. And then he's dead? No point at all. I probably would have made Katness' little sister closer to her age. Like 15 or so. I also wouldnt have her die. I think that if Prim's age was gloser to Gale's and she didnt die then i probably would have Prim and Gale end up together. The Katniss and Peeta have their happy ending and Prim and Gale have theirs. Then Gale wouldnt be so sad over Katniss. I think everyone deserves a happy ending, but i would have focused on Prim, Gale and Finnick a little better. They needed a happy ending just like Katniss and Peeta.

Charlotte yeah what happened to the rest of the world other than north america/panem?

message 176: by Azhia (new) - rated it 3 stars

Azhia I dont undrstand the ending like where her and Gale stood it didnt make since to me that shoulve been cleared up

message 177: by Noname (new)

Noname I think Collins is a giant hippie, and that is why allot of our favorite characters died, it shows you what war and violence does to people. (I don't have anything against hippies, by the way)

message 178: by Mattie (new) - rated it 5 stars

Mattie D No mind altering for Peeta, and more Peeta time in the Third Book. :/

message 179: by Noname (new)

Noname Remember how Katniss described Peetas paintings in catching fire? well that is how i describe these books (except the first one) I wish Prim and Finnick could have lived, and Gale die some noble military death (That's the way Gale would want to go out), and the Everdeen family live happily ever after, then Katniss marries Peeta, has a family... so on so on

Megan Umm... Prims death, although sad, was a MAJOR part in the story. The turn around point. to eliminate that would be like taking the fulcrum out of a lever. It would just sit there (be a boring story) until it got another fulcrum. Althouh Finnicks death...wasn't important to the story at all!!! She could've gone without it

message 181: by Voxit (new) - rated it 2 stars

Voxit Only publish ONE book. The first one.

message 182: by Misty (new) - rated it 5 stars

Misty Dont get me wrong, but a read a lot of comments on here about how ppl shouldnt have died and they should have lived happily ever after. What makes these books so great is that they follow real life. if real life something with happily ever after never would happen for Katniss and Peeta. In real life you wouldnt believe in a happily ever after, after what they have been through. I believe that despite my not liking the end very much, that nothing should be changed. She followed exactly what would happen in real life and that is what made the seires so good to begin with. In real life there are no happy ending with death, war, and hunger. There is only contentment. That was captured greatly in this book. I would not change a thing.

message 186: by Anissa (new) - rated it 5 stars

Anissa I would change all my fav charcaters not dying and Gale's anger issue that way it wasn't an obstacle for Katniss and him.

Just FYI I have realizied that I'm not exactly Team Peeta or Team Gale because their both good for her in some ways. Its my opinion please respect that.

message 187: by Lucy (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lucy no death for prim because it made it seem like katniss went through all of that for nothing

Ashleigh Kuhns I would change the very end of mockingjay. I hated how Katniss called her kids the boy and the girl. I would have given them names. That part just made it seem that Katniss did not really care about her own children.

Well although i liked all the books i kind of have to agree. I liked reading the books but if she could have put them all together and take out all the unnessesary parts. Make them all into ONE book that will probably turn out to be only a little bigger then how big the last one ended up being. I kind of like this idea....

Agrrement!! I have plently of guy friends. My three best firneds are guys and i couldnt enagine what i'd get into if they didnt keep me in check. I think guys make the best best frineds...for me anyway. And Katness having a best guy friend...well shes amazing. not every girl could deal with being best friends with a guy.

message 191: by [deleted user] (new)

Finnick, Cinna, and Prim should not not not have SPOILER died. It cast a dark shadow over a more or less happy ending. I suppose the ending wasn't exactly perfect by itself, but that just didn't need to happen.

message 192: by Voxit (new) - rated it 2 stars

Voxit Allison wrote:

That would make it far more epic. I also wish throughout the books she'd snap out of her self-loathing stage.

message 193: by Fran (new) - rated it 5 stars

Fran Cinna's death more important. FINNICK NOT TO DIE!!!! and the entire ending of Mockingjay, it ended wayy to fast. And Gale and Katniss to still be friends. I loved Prim but it was appropriate for her to die. It kinda made sense.

message 194: by Fran (new) - rated it 5 stars

Fran Harleen wrote: "i dont like the girl whos playing katniss in the movie i imagined her prettier like not to be mean but u no...."

i disagree... they make a big deal about Gale being hot and stuff. Katniss is supposed to be the girl that knows how to fight for herself. Not the girl that all the guys are after.

message 195: by Maira (new) - rated it 3 stars

Maira I have four things that I would change on Mockingjay:

1°When Peeta was hijacked, I felt that he never will be the same person, the boy with the bread. I cried so much, I felt that we lost him forever.

2°Finnick's dead, to me was truly unnecessary and at least deserved a more trascendental dead, he risked all for Peeta and Kat in CF and then he has a wife and a son to born, his death was so unfair.

3°The end, I finished the book three days ago and I´m so depressed, I felt that Katniss just settled for Peeta because he was there, he literaly would give his life for her and she seems so...I don´t know, I couldn't find the words yet.

4°The epilogue, I cannot see happy persons there, just two broken persons, I understand that all the things they passed away together were so tragic but I have liked to see/read a more hopeful future for them.

message 196: by Maira (new) - rated it 3 stars

Maira Mattie wrote: "No mind altering for Peeta, and more Peeta time in the Third Book. :/"

I have loved to see more Peeta on MJ, too.
I'm thinking how will they deal with this in the MJ movie since he doesn't appear very much, will they do a trick like in New Moon for Edward or will they stick to the book? I hope they choose the second option.

message 197: by Mattie (new) - rated it 5 stars

Mattie D @Maira My thoughts exactly! Throughout reading MJ, I was thinking "Josh Hutcherson's not going to get much screen time", especially since there will be two movies.

I think that they'll stay true to the book but add more of the scenes with Peeta in them. Like the interview, and video responses when he was attacked by Snow. I hope that's what they do. It seems like the last book was devoted to Gale, and then Mrs. Collins threw us a curve ball by having her choose Peeta. I'm not upset by that choice, I'm upset that through a good 2/3s of the book he was trying to Katniss, and Katniss was honestly thinking of killing him.

message 198: by Grace (new) - rated it 4 stars

Grace I would take out Finnick's unnecessary death and make the final page longer, because I think Peeta & Katniss's long-awaited happy ending was too rushed. I don't think I would change anything else.
