Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) I personally would not change anything except Finnick's SPOILER*death* and Cinna...I wished them a happy ending..but they unfortunately didn't get one. I am happy with everything else that happened in all of the books.

Jodi AGREED! NO DEATH FOR FINNICK!
And Cinna...-.-

Aestas Book Blog no death for Finnick. It just ruined the whole series for me :(

Makayla I give a better ending for Gale, and NOT KILL OFF FINNICK!!!! What was the point in that??

Valerie I wouldn't change anything, except maybe the fact Katniss wanted another Hunger Games. :v That seemed out of character for her, and it's the only flaw in the trilogy.

I like that the author killed off Finnick and Cinna, even though I loved those characters. Collins keeps it real, Finnik's death was a real tragedy since it left his pregnant wife alone.... I was like "Oh gawd, he was about to be a father?!" D:

I usually don't hate what happens in books anyway. P: The author wrote it that way, it's the way they wanted it, so I'm not giong to mess with it unless if there's something really wrong with it structurally. (i.e, Mary/Gary Sue character, conflict is resolved too quickly, or if there's a lack of conflict, etc.)

I think Suzanne Collins wrote a realistic story, and did an excellent job with it. No reason to change it, really. P:

Kirby I know what you mean, valerie. I feel like if katniss was in any way sincere about voting for another game, then I kinda hate her. so, I like to think of it as she was just going along in order to have her shot at coin. even her comment about it being for prim kinda points to her wanting revenge on coin, not the capitol, much less their children. I read in some other post that someone thought that that was also what was meant by her saying something about "seeing how well haymitch knew her," as in he also knew what katniss was up to. cause I also don't wanna think haymitch really wanted to kill more children. didn't gale vote for more games? and I'm pretty sure he meant it- makes me not like him much either.

In the Hunger games i would change instead of peeta, gale gets chosen, then peeta volunteers.

Sara I'm not sure why exactly, but the end bothered me for some reason :(

message 10: by Jessica (last edited Oct 22, 2011 08:27PM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Jessica Gard I agree with you Kirby, I am pretty sure the only reason she agreed to another game was to placate Coin in order to secure her assassination. If I could have chosen one thing to change though it would have been Prim's death over Finnick or even Cinna.

While I felt that Finnick's death was not completely necessary, I understood why she killed Cinna off, in doing so it showed just how far the Capitol would go to see her fail. The whole point of his death was to shake her up, and instead Katniss fought them even harder. I felt that Prim's death was just plain wrong though. Katniss went into the Games for the sole purpose of protecting her family and I felt that in writing Prim's death Suzanne Collins basically slapped her character in the face. It made everything seem so pointless in a way.

percabeth everyone dies in war, even the innocent. Prim represents that innocence so i think collins put in prim's death for that specific reason. it is definitely something that happens in a war millions of times and prim's death was realistic like finnick's and cinna's death.

message 12: by Linds (new) - rated it 1 star

Linds Finick's death, and just the fact that she tortured Gale and Katniss so. I get that she was trying to write about war, but it was a teen sci-fi novel, not Elie Wiesel's Night.

Courtney I didn't like the ending. Yes it was more realistic but I felt like Katniss just settled for Peeta and he deserves so much better than that. And yeah overtime I think she realized it was the right choice but I mean I just wanted for of a "I choose you" moment not an oh your here you'll have to do.

Ashley Black Finnick and Cinna lives. Peeta keeps his leg.

However, these are also points I wouldn't change. It made the story of war seem that much more real. I love it when Authors aren't afraid to kill or maim their characters. It makes the story that much more special and amazing and exciting and at the same time, heartbreaking.

george ☽ The fact that Katniss wanted another Hunger Games... what the hell was she thinking?
I'm okay with Finnick's death and Cinna's but Prim's made me cry (I still wouldn't change it though) but I don't understand what happened to Gale at the end... Love the Hunger Games!

Annie Hudson I agree, Finnick should have lived because now the girl he was supposed to marry has no one to marry anymore. And yeah Gale should have had a wayyy better ending. I started off liking Gale better than Peeta (I think alotta ppl did) but as the story went on, I disliked him more and more and started liking Peeta more an more. Notice how almost everyone dies in this book? Prim, Finnick, Cinna, Rue, Thresh, President Snow and that other bad lady whatever her name was, Cato and all the other Hunger game contestants.

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

Finnick and Cinna's death were soooo heartbreaking. Ecspecially Prim's.

But I think their deaths showed readers the blunt cruelty of the Capitol. Like, their all-consuming power they had over everything. Without their deaths I don't think that idea would've come out as clearly.

Honestly, I don't think there really is anything left to change. The story itself if perfect on its own.

Misty Not counting the epilogue, I loved the ending of the book. I liked how she incorporated the "Real or not real" thing into it. I cried when Prim died and i hate how Finnick and Cinna died as well, but i would not change a thing. When Katniss voted for the new hunger games i didnt like it and at first i wish she would have changed it, but the more i think about it, the more i realize why she did it and i wouldnt change it now.
I started off liking Gale a lot more, but the more you read the more he is like Katniss and is filled with to much... Fire i guess you could say. Even Katniss says it at the end of the book. She says, "What i need to survive is not Gale's fire, kindled with rage and hatred. I have plenty of fire myself. What i need is the dandelion in spring. the bright yellow that mean rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again. Only Peeta can give that to me. So after when he whispers, "Do you love me. Real or not Real?" I tell him. "Real" "
So honestly I guess i wouldnt change a thing in the book.

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) Why didn't you like the epilogue? I didn't like it either, I guess because I wanted to dream about their future together. I don't think Katniss and Peeta should of had children because some of their pain and suffering would have an effect on their children..Plus nothing about Gale or Haymitch..Plus it seemed that Katniss wasn't happy at all.

yeah, it totally seemed like she wasn't really happy! The end bothered me, but I couldn't seem to figure out why. I think that's what it is though!

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) I feel like she wasn't completely happy. Now, I know she's been through SOOOOOOOOOOO much stuff, but I think it would be hard to be sad with Peeta around.

*BB*Rosepaw, Hopekit!! I would not kill finnick or prim

Annie Hudson The very last page of Mockingjay was the best paragraph out of the entire trilogy!!!!! I absolutely loved it and read it over and over again and still read it. It totally sums up everything about the whole love triangle thing. Gale is just too much like Katniss herself. And Peeta is the opposite of her. And loved the part where he says, love me real or not real and she says real!!!!!

message 24: by Erin (new) - rated it 5 stars

Erin I didnt really pay attention to Finnick...I wished I would have :(

Sarah I wouldn't change a thing. All of the deaths were heartbreaking but realistic and contributed to an overarching theme of the books: War is hell.

Elizabeth I really liked that Katniss chose Peeta in the end, and that's what I loved about the ending.

I didn't want Cinna and Finnick to die, and least of all Primrose. The whole point of Katniss voluntering was to keep her sister safe, I still don't get why the author decided to kill her off.

I would have kept Prim alive, that's the biggest change I would make.

Irsyad Iskandar The fact that the bow and arrow seemed to do better than an assault rifle.

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) Irsyad wrote: "The fact that the bow and arrow seemed to do better than an assault rifle."
Well..they had better aim with a bow and arrow?

Kirby Irsyad wrote: "The fact that the bow and arrow seemed to do better than an assault rifle."

I agree that that did seem a bit... counter-intuitive. perhaps we were supposed to assume that it was b/c they were explosive arrows, but why would we not think they would explosive rounds as well?

message 30: by Ana Sofía (last edited Oct 24, 2011 04:39PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ana Sofía I would have Prim not die and the she could marry Gale.

message 31: by Shay (new) - rated it 5 stars

Shay I would give Gale a better ending and I wouldn't summarize a bunch of things that happened. I felt like it was a bit rushed in the end. I also would have had Peeta rescued much more sooner. I think they waited too late (was glad to get him back though :D ).

As much as I loved Finnick and Cinna, I might still have them die. However, I would at least mention Finnick again! Ah! My heart!

Note: I love the way the books are already.

Jennifer Dupriest Prim and Finnick's Death...

message 33: by Sara (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sara I would've liked a better ending. It was too vague and Gale was hardly given the ending he deserved. But most of all I would change Cinna, Finnick and Primrose's deaths. They all made me cry. I love how Katniss kills Coin in the end though. I just wasn't expecting it.

I am with you. Finnick's death was horrible. I actually cried...

Ariana Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) wrote: "I personally would not change anything except Finnick's SPOILER*death* and Cinna...I wished them a happy ending..but they unfortunately didn't get one. I am happy with everything else that happened..."

That's all I was going to say.

Harleen there were soooo many things i wanted to change!!!!!!!!
*i think suzanne collins could have summed up the ending for gale better
* finnick, prim, and cinna didnt die!!!!!!! so shouldnt have happened!!!!!!!!!
*there shouldnt be another hunger games with the capital's kids cause they didnt do anything!!!
*how gale might have killed prim that really upset me and then he left to district 2!!!!!

i think that sums it up but the author really messed up mockingjay and i think most people would agree

Michelle i would change not necessarily the ending but i hate that it felt so rushed...the story was amazing and beautifully written to have such a rushed ending to it

ȘᎯɱᎯɴτħᎯ Finnick not dying, and the whole torture to Peeta thing my heart was wrenched at that part.

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) SamanthaJ wrote: "Finnick not dying, and the whole torture to Peeta thing my heart was wrenched at that part."

I KNOW RIGHT! I cried when he was hijacked and I'm still not over it! But, just think how much would of changed. Gale would be supers jealous because Katniss and Peeta would be spending time together. And Peeta might of died when they were on the mission, because he was his full self. I didn't want that to happen, but it was nessesary. However, Finnick's and Cinna's death weren't nessessary to the story.

Harleen i hated how peeta was tortured too!!! but finnick and cinna dieing really really upset me

message 41: by Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) (last edited Oct 26, 2011 03:19PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) Like I feel emotionless..(about the books) and heartless..I don't cry when they are tortured and beaten, but I feel like crying at the end of THG when Peeta asks "It was all for the games?"..

Makayla Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) wrote: "Like I feel emotionless..(about the books) and heartless..I don't cry when they are tortured and beaten, but I feel like crying at the end of THG when Peeta asks "It was all for the games?".."

I know right! I was just like...owwww!!! (Okay, so not ow as in pain, I just can't spell the sound I made :)

Misty Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) wrote: "Why didn't you like the epilogue? I didn't like it either, I guess because I wanted to dream about their future together. I don't think Katniss and Peeta should of had children because some of thei..."
Exactly like you say. She just doesnt seem happy. The ending of the book she does. But in the epilogue she just seems to be putting up with the stuff. The only part of the epilogue that i like is the song she says the children take for advantage. It gives power to her feelings. Thats it though.

C.C. I would like Cinna to be alive and Finnick to have a happy ending.... dammit that was sad.

message 45: by Diane (last edited Oct 27, 2011 12:25AM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Diane I would change the whole entire Mockingjay book. I loved it at first but when I re-read it, I just can't believe that the way it went down.

Key points I would change:
1.) Finnick would still be alive.
2.) Cinna's death would be given more relevance.
3.) Katniss would still change but in some way retain her strong and vibrant personality
4.) Gale would not be the bitter and vengeful to the point that his character is almost someone else.
5.) Gale would not go away, Katniss and Gale's friendship will remain intact.
6.) Katniss would choose Peeta, definitely and above all doubt.
7.) They'd still be traumatized, and have hard times ahead...but they would be really happy together (and passionate of course). I know it was supposed to be a bitter sweet ending in MJ but it felt to me like Katniss was a little resigned.

Romita Diane *Ahnnihilate* wrote: "I would change the whole entire Mockingjay book. I loved it at first but when I re-read it, I just can't believe that the way it went down.

Completely agree with you at every point. You literally stole the words from my mind, just put them up more systematically..:D

I agree with everything..I just wish there wasn't one at all..And I hope they cut it out of the movie, because they will just make them look weird.

Harleen i dont like the girl whos playing katniss in the movie i imagined her prettier like not to be mean but u no....

Nicole qwerty i think prim & finnick wouldnt die and katniss would end up w/ gale

Harleen i still dont think katniss with peeta was such a big deal but i did like gale more than peeta
