The story of Graffiti Girl (angel) takes place in struggling part of California. Angel, a high school student very interested in art is coming out of her comfort zone to study the art of graffiti. she meets a young man (Miguel), who she suddenly becomes attracted to, which gets her more interested in this kind of art. she also has a crush on another student (Nathan), whose much more preppy & sporty then Miguel, the schools bad boy. she becomes confused as to who she should & shouldn't like. she's attracted to both boys for different reasons. she finds time to spend with Nathan at school once he's chosen her to be on the mural committee he's in charge of. She also finds time to spend with miguel after she's confessed she's interested in learning about his kind of art. something between the boys has caused alot of tension previously, & eveytime they see each other it gets awkward & sometimes kind of rough. angel makes the mistake of choosing each one to spend time with at the wrong times, & as she's trying to figure out why they don't like each other she's beginning to fall for both of them much more. the art Nathan is interested in is much more of the typical art such as painting, drawing, & sketching. the art Miguel is interested in is often looked at as a sterotype "tagging". she's been interested in the typical art for so long, graffiti is very new & fresh to her she doesn't begin so well. Miguel soon has her join his graffiti crew in order for her to learn that art style. Her bestfriend beth, & nathan know she's been spending more time with miguel and the rest of his crew & their not so sure why & don't question her much about it either. Beth later finds out after angel opens up to her after an argument she has with miguel. miguel makes a move and kisses her after uniting her in his crew, angel's not sure how to feel after this so she goes about it in her own way by pretending it never happened. after she refuses to kiss miguel a second time while at his house with her bestfriend beth, and his crew. miguel flips and refuses to be her ride home. angel gets angry & comes right out by telling beth why he's upset with her. Angel doesn't want miguels crew to treat her any different because she dates with miguel or goes out with him when he says its okay. he claims to be her friend still, that goes out with her "sometimes" Angels left in a confusing place, & has to do some thinking on her own as to what she wil pursure, with who, & which style of art.
