Anna McGonnell the last books was way to long. i just finished id and i am relieved that it is done. i kind of liked the ending because it was over. do you think it was to much of so you want another?

Anna McGonnell it just went on fffffffoooooooooorrrrrrrrrreeeeevvveerrrrrrr!

05chris_m I thought the last book was the worst of all 3 of them. Katness marying Peta was my least favorit part. The first book was amaizing, the second was ok, but the third wasn't good at all.

Wessam It was boring, long, and unnecessary!!

Lucille I've always thought the ending was great. In my opinion, there could be no other satisfying ending than that.

If you think that Katniss should have ended up with Gale, well, I think it's impossible. If you remember, Prim died because of Gale's fire. So, how could Katniss marry him?

Besides, Peeta is better for Katniss. She needs someone who understands her. And Gale could never understand her fully.

And I think it was not boring at all. It was war for freedom, do you think that's boring and unnecessary?

Aerial i agree this book took me forever i was just happy to be done with it. there was some really sad parts in the book that made me keep reading. and another reason is because i really liked the second book and wanted to see how it would end.

I agree the ending was greaaaat, but i didn't like the book....

Slc-crk I agree with the above posts, it was a bit muddled in middle, but the overall story was good...

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) It went on a bit, I was just reading so I could finish and see how it ended! The propos and stuff..well to be honest it wasn't as interesting as the games. :)

Sanya Ya I'd say it was a titch too long, or at least the depression of their circumstance overwhelmed the reader making it seem neverending.

It has more to do with what happened to Kattness, but I can't say anything in current Presence......

Citra I agree that it's long and unnecessary. One book is good for the hunger games, no need the second and third.

Not every story is worth to be a trilogy.

Oh and I hate the ending!

Katrina K If it weren't for this book, I would be recommending this series to everyone! Sadly, I felt it ruined the series. It was soooo depressing! I understand its a dystopian fiction- but WOW it makes a reader lose the will to live!!!! The ending SUCKED and i skimmed through the last 30 pages because I was so fed up. I loved Peeta in the first 2 books, annd I so badly wanted them to be together, but by the third book, it seemed all the passion and life had been sucked out of the relationship and the book!

Katrina K haha maybe it was just me- I may have put too much hope into the final book! :)

Arushi no, catching fire and mockingjay sucked. i think she should have just had the hunger games and been done with it.

Rachel Actually, I think that if it would have been all cheerful and happy and utopian at the end, it would have ruined the whole point of the series. It's not a 'fairy tale' story, so it shouldn't really have a fairy tale ending either.

Katrina K Yes, you are right- it definitely couldn't have pulled off 'happy', as it is, after all, a Dystopian novel. But i think there is a fine line between 'dystopia' and 'wow i think i want to end my life', and Collins was flirting with it.

Rachel She did give Katniss and Peeta a happy ending, even if it was a little bittersweet because of Prim. But hey, if no one died, it wouldn't be interesting =P

Katrina K Haha too true

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) If no one died, she would be acussed of making it too happy. Fans are hard to please.

Shay Dang peoples. I liked it. Yeah it was depressing and disturbing to read, but hey, it's a war, it's a dystopian novel, we're blood-thirsty readers :\

If anything, I wish Peeta showed up sooner in the novel and I wish Katniss didn't treat him like crap for the majority of the time he was around.

I thought it gave the series closure and truthfully, I found the ending way too rushed and I wish she slowed down.

Dhfan4life I didn't think it was too long really. As it demonstrated the human thinking process and how we often never really learn from our mistakes. I just thought the end was too easily wrapped up though.

Citra I hate that Katniss was only the puppet. She didn't really do something in there except for posing with her mockingjay outfit..

I think our high expectation is justified since the first book is quite good.

Andrea I enjoyed Mockingjay, but it felt needlessly dragged out to meet a page or word limit. I felt that the book could have been condensed easily without all the unnecessary filler in between. It also felt haltingly ended -- I get that Katniss, Peeta, her mother, and Gale more or less settled after the tumultuous turns of events -- but what about the other secondary characters? The ending left me wondering what happened to Johanna, and I was hoping that Collins would have expanded more on Annie rather than just leaving a bit of her story as an afterthought. What happened to the country as a whole? What kind of government was developed? The series had closure, yes, but some ends still felt loose to me.

All in all, it was a fantastic series, and I feel privileged to have been able to read the books. I still recommend them to anyone who expresses interest in dystopian literature and easy, powerful reads.

05chris_m Her other books are fine, but these 2 sucked!! I'm reading "Gregore the Overlander" right now, the plot is compleatly confusing, but it just SUCKS YOU RIGHT IN! I can't put it down!

Charlie Meserve I really hated this book. IT WAS SO FREAKING DEPRESSING.

Allen ABH Not to much to little, this book is my least favorite of the trilogy.

Yes I think so too.
I felt that every time the story got tense or exiting, Katniss, would always wind up unconscious and we miss all the action. Maybe Collins was running out of ideas and couldn't come up with some fantastic ending. But still, it is no excuse.

Another reason why I didn't like it is the bad characterization. I think Katniss became weak, boring and lead Peeta and Gale on quite a bit.

Also the fact that Gale just disappears in the end with little notice or explanation was really a disappointing end to a brilliant series.

Kathryn I have to agree to some extent. Mockingjay was my least favorite of one of my favorites trilogies. I felt it was rushed and not well thought out. It was almost as if the series was gaining so much popularity, that maybe the pressure of putting out the third book got to Collins. Maybe she didn't know how she wanted to end it, but felt she just had to put an end to it somehow. But that's just me.

I was kind of disappointed with the ending. I didn't like the fact Katniss ended up with Peeta at all. I would have rather seen her with Gale, or by herself to show her individual strength. But, I guess if you look at the whole story, it makes sense somewhat. I guess you can't always have an ending you want, but its what the author wants. Not every book will make you happy with its story or its ending.

For me, The Hunger Games was really brilliant. It was such a captivating read into another time and ultimately a different world than our's today. The idea behind it made me think a lot about our future, and to some extent had me wondering if eventually we'd end up in a similar society. I thought Catching Fire was also very well done, but not as brilliant as The Hunger Games. When it came to Mockingjay, something about it just fell short of the first two books for me. I wonder if she just didn't put much thought into it, or she was rushed, something....

All in all, I love the trilogy. Its very interesting and a great read for teens or adults.

Fraser Yes this book is depressing but I think it needed to be the whole concept from the start is tragic and horrendous it can't end with sunshine and lolly pops, the reason it made us so depressed is because it's so well written and we care so much about peeta and katniss. we want them (katniss & peeta) to end up together and it does this without being cheesy.
Great end to a great series.
But I'm am utterly depressed though.

Lanegyro Audra I think it was the best book of the series.

Aycal Herondale I am reading mockingjay now, and it is like really slow. i can't seem to finish it.Don't get me wrong, I love the series, but the last book is taking forever to read. I don't wanna stop reading because I want to finish the series, but I can't seem to continue. I think the fact that Peeta is kinda brainwashed put me off. alot. :S

Jen Bondoc I really love this book. Most people forget that Suzanne is trying to describe and make her readers understand/aware of WAR and how it affects the people in both situations. Either good or bad. I think she did an amazing job in showing us the emotional turmoil that anyone would go through. Especially Katniss. Come on, she's just 16/17 and the weight of the war is already on her shoulders. I don't think it was long, in fact, it was too fast for me, especially the deaths that happened. It was long enough to show us how each character matured through out the series, how each one of them struggled during the war even though it was only said through Katniss's point of view. And the ending was enough to remind us that war will always end in tragedy and we must learn to pick up the pieces eventually.
