Christy Stewart (christyleighstewart) So we all in agreement that it was too far?

I don't think personal topics are so freely thrown out to strangers if they are, indeed, personal. Davis used his mother multiple times in examples of why he was wise beyond his years, and more intelligent than anyone within 50 feet.

If his mother was really such a touchy subject, he wouldn't be using her to win petty arguments with complete idiots he met on a GOODREADS group.

If he was mature at all, he wouldn't have PMed me at all. It was overly emotional and combative. His justification of 'you got 1 vote in the contest when I got 8' being why I was so much more unintelligent than him is textbook childish.

If Davis was mature, or wise, as he insists he is...He wouldn't feel the need to have the last word all the time. He wouldn't use excuses to justify WHY he is so much better than everyone else, it would just show. If you have to convince people that you are better than them with your biography, maybe you should just print it up and save us all some time.

Constantly dismissing and insulting others while simultaneously being self-congratulatory isn’t mature, it’s the antithesis of maturity.

Nor is maturity the Pming of strangers about how they need to shut up because their life has been so much harder than yours. It’s being emo.

Was talking about his mother too far? That’s a matter of opinion, so I won’t argue it.

Was it worth saying? Yes, because the more indignant Davis gets, the more entertaining he is. I’m sorry you won’t all get to enjoy it as I will because he will inevitably take it into a ‘no I’m not, you are’ argument, AGAIN, or want to argue with me in private.

There are a few things in my life that would make me livid if one attacked. This is because they are personal to me. They are important. So I don’t tell them to every stranger in passing who thinks they’re hot shit.

Davis, if the topic of your mother is so dear to you, try not using it as a shield. That’s the first thing that will be attacked.

I don’t think this really matters though. The first time I egged Davis on, I was curious as to how quickly he would become combative (very quickly), this second time I wondered if he would try to maintain some patients (no). A person like me could go at this again and again, but Davis has proven to be as two dimensional as you can get, so I’m not really interested at this point.

I’m sure he and I will be back at it eventually, though, because sometimes he makes things too appetizing.

Lauren (djinni) "But basically, Lauren, what it comes down to is that Davis tends to sound smug and immature and very... condescending and know-it-all type. And Christy, as well as some others (like me, last week, for example) are trying to put him in his place. But he can't seem to get off his high horse."

It's only a high horse when you have no right to be there.

"I don't think personal topics are so freely thrown out to strangers if they are, indeed, personal. Davis used his mother multiple times in examples of why he was wise beyond his years, and more intelligent than anyone within 50 feet. "

So? He can talk about his life. But you have no right to use such cruel insults about it.

"He wouldn't use excuses to justify WHY he is so much better than everyone else, it would just show. If you have to convince people that you are better than them with your biography, maybe you should just print it up and save us all some time. "

Only saying that about what's happened to him in direct response to you calling him immature. He was proving you wrong.

If you can think such harsh thought about him, you obviously know nothing at all about his personality. He's only a nice, funny, sweet guy if you deserve it. Obviously, you don't.

Lauren (djinni) "have bad taste in literature cuz I like the Twilight series and have a tiny brain"

*nods*

Christy Stewart (christyleighstewart) Lauren wrote: "Only saying that about what's happened to him in direct response to you calling him immature. He was proving you wrong."

I never called him that. He was the one throwing those words around.

Lauren wrote: "So? He can talk about his life. But you have no right to use such cruel insults about it."

He has the right to tell strangers about his life and the strangers have the right to mock it.

And no, I don't know him, thank God.

Jessica wrote: "Christy, everything you said is true. Everything. But I would be a bit more... I don't know... insult him in ways that people are more likely to not say anything about cuz it's more civil and slightly more classy. "

Thank you for speaking up on this.

It would be better to play by his rules and just call him 'immature' but I figured, if he wants to beat a dead horse, I'll beat a dead crack whore.

Christy Stewart (christyleighstewart) Jessica wrote: "Oh, I've said it b4, I'll say it again: I don't give a crap. On that topic, we were debating about Twilight vs. Harry Potter. Not the people who read them. Geez. What that person said was totally s..."

Ignore that. This one chick on here (different group) said that because I read Fight Club that I was a crazy activist for social upheaval.

Liking one thing doesn't define you.

Lauren (djinni) "And no, I don't know him, thank God. "

Then you're extremely unfortunate.

"And it sound like you like Davis. "

Who, me? <3 What made you say that? And why did you italicize like>

message 309: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) "But, sue me. I'm twelve, I'm allowed to act immaturely if I want to."

Hardly. Age is no excuse when you have the capacity.

message 310: by Megan (new)

Megan Hansen (meganhansen) Davis wrote: "I'm afraid you drew me back with that quip about my mother. Not to much can really upset me, but I can say that took it to far."

I'd say a lot can upset you since your automatically in the offensive no matter what anyone is talking about. I don't think Christy took it too far. If your going to insult her intelligence and her family - which she didn't call you on like a wounded child on the playground calling for backup - why is it considered "too far" when she brings up something personal you've told her about? Something personal you used to try and win an argument.

Furthermore, what about that comment about "How can you be more intelligent than me when you only got 1 vote and I got 8?" That Christy mentioned above. Why isn't anyone calling a foal over that incredibly cheap shot? I will. That took it too far, Davis. Does popularity automatically make you more intelligent?

I'm with Jessica, lets keep this public, since I am being highly entertained!

message 311: by Megan (new)

Megan Hansen (meganhansen) Lauren wrote: ""But, sue me. I'm twelve, I'm allowed to act immaturely if I want to."

Exactly.

Davis.

Lauren (djinni) "If your going to insult her intelligence and her family - which she didn't call you on like a wounded child on the playground calling for backup"

Intelligence is fair game. But can you please show me the latter? Where did he do that?

Don't twist my insult for yourself.

message 313: by Megan (new)

Megan Hansen (meganhansen) Lauren wrote: "Intelligence is fair game. But can you please show me the latter? Where did he do that?

So it's okay to insult intelligence but you have nothing to say about the family part on his end?

He called for back up, as I put it, when he said she "went to far." Saying that was a clear indication for others to come in and echo him. In an argument saying "that’s too far" is like throwing up your hands and saying I give up, I'm helpless.

I think Jessica has been acting more mature than Davis and it's uncalled for to insult her.

message 314: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) "So it's okay to insult intelligence but you have nothing to say about the family part on his end? "

Nothing to say as you didn't show me the proof of it's occurrence.

"He called for back up, as I put it, when he said she "went to far." Saying that was a clear indication for others to come in and echo him."

He didn't need to "call for back up" as I've been waiting for a while to get into this argument anyway/.

message 315: by Christy (new)

Christy Stewart (christyleighstewart) Lauren wrote: "Nothing to say as you didn't show me the proof of it's occurrence."

I hadn't thought of that, but Megan is right.

Davis postulated that my genetics were inferior to his (racist, I'd say!) and thus was insulting my family.

All I did was mention that his mother is a drug addict, which she IS. Which HE's brought up multiple times.

Megan is right, I'm the victim here and you and Davis are now racists. I hope you're happy.

message 316: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) "Davis postulated that my genetics were inferior to his (racist, I'd say!) and thus was insulting my family. "

Your gene pool is much wider then your immediate family. Hardly racist. You are silly aren't you. Next you'll be comparing us to Hitler.

message 317: by Christy (new)

Christy Stewart (christyleighstewart) Hitler! Now that I think of it...You do seem a little like Hitler.

And my genes come from my family. You are ignoring the fact I only restated a fact and he insulted my family.

Also, he is a racist.

message 319: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) I'm sure he would have been just as insulting no matter your race. As I would.

message 320: by Christy (new)

Christy Stewart (christyleighstewart) But that's just a bonus for you people, isn't it?

message 321: by Miinnniiiiie(: (last edited Jul 20, 2009 01:26PM) (new)

Miinnniiiiie(: why r people racist anyways? they are the same species as us and i bet they were white they got darker and darker cus i mean they came from the equator. its like snow tigers hating bengal tigers

message 322: by Christy (new)

Christy Stewart (christyleighstewart) I can't explain it myself, Minnie. Enlighten us Lauren.

message 323: by Miinnniiiiie(: (new)

Miinnniiiiie(: lol.....christy r u black??(just making sure......))

message 324: by Christy (new)

Christy Stewart (christyleighstewart) No, but some say I'm worse.

I don't know what THAT means, because I'm not a racist.

message 325: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) People are racists for the same reason they are homophobic. Fear of what they are not, fear of the unknown, fear of what they don't understand, hate of those that are different. Acute cases could be called xenophobia.

message 326: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) "they are the same species as us and i bet they were white they got darker and darker cus i mean they came from the equator."

As humans came from Africa, it's the other way around. Caucasians lost their pigmentation based on their location. Which is why the father south in Europe you go, closer to Africa, the darker in skin and hair people are.

Lauren (djinni) Hm. Sounds like a state fitness exam. We just have to run a mile in under 13 minutes, no laps.

message 340: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) That seems really really stupid. X)

message 341: by Davis (new)

Davis (davismattek) Hmmm. Christy, I have to say I'm rather disappointed with your performance.

message 342: by Christy (new)

Christy Stewart (christyleighstewart) Good to see you have such high hopes for me.

message 343: by Davis (new)

Davis (davismattek) I don't think I ever attempted to say I was more wise than you in our PM's, just not that I'm some stupid little kid.

message 344: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) Oh, I love school, I just hate exercises in futility, which is what gym mostly is.

message 345: by Christy (new)

Christy Stewart (christyleighstewart) Davis wrote: "I don't think I ever attempted to say I was more wise than you in our PM's, just not that I'm some stupid little kid. "

You said "Not saying I've had a bad life, but I've had a much greater spectrum than you."

Am I not to suppose you meant that made you wiser?

message 346: by Davis (new)

Davis (davismattek) That would be assuming on your part, nothing I directly said. What I said still remains true, as well.

message 347: by Lauren (last edited Jul 20, 2009 05:58PM) (new)

Lauren (djinni) No.

You are inferring. Why not ask him what he meant instead of assuming.

message 348: by Christy (new)

Christy Stewart (christyleighstewart) Okay Davis, what do you mean by that statment?

And more so, what and who do you think I am?

Let me get you started...

I'm arrogant

I'm a fucking idiot

I'm stupid

Just a few nuggets from your PMs to me

message 349: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) Aw, but I'm thirsty!

message 350: by Davis (new)

Davis (davismattek) I think your a 24 year old who tries much to hard to buy into stereotypes perpetrated by mass consumption of television/movies/un-aesthetically pleasing American Culturisms. This results in the kind of pretend distance which many in your age group attempt to feign, angry at the world, covering self-consciousness with animosity, etc.
