When you visit a blog, what catches your eye and keeps your interest?

How about content,do folks prefer more personal postings or do folks prefer more subject focused postings

I generally prefer blog posts about more personal stories and I enjoy writing blog posts that are just as personal and forthcoming.... In so doing, I've met complete strangers who have provided me with invaluable material for the historical novel I'm currently writing. I like really simple layouts - anything too fussy/flashy and I'll be put off. As for posts, I like there to be something personal, but some of my favourite bloggers write recipe blogs so the personal side is more "what inspired me to make this?" or suchlike
