Does It Confuse Anyone Else, Switching from Hannah's tapes to Clay's reactions?

i loved the book jus finished it today and i didnt have a hard time following it.. i felt so bad for Clay i def wouldnt want to ever be in that position.. but im def glad i read it!!

Yes, I am enjoying it as it goes along. I am veryyyyyy disappointed that Selena Gomez is playing Hannah, though. I thought Hannah would look a little more hard core.. but I guess you can't always have your way in Hollywood :P

Sadly. Love Selena and all, but I personally don't think she is right for this part.. And yes! Twilight books were/are way better than the movies. They left out a lot of good parts in theatres.

Sara-Sadiya : I'm not completely sure who should play; I can see the book as a movie, but only in my head, and since I heard Sel is playing Hannah, it just doesn't fit right...
Sydney : During the rest of the book I can almost feel Clay's pain; I'm planning to finish before tomorrow!

Lakan: Yeah.... It's pretty sad to hear the rest of what Hannah says.... Everything adds up though, like how she says that everything's just a snowball affect, it really is. And this is Jay Assher's first book he's ever published. But what I didn't understand was why certain people were in it, but I guess most do make sense... And I cannot believe Selena is playing Hannah... I don't think it fits right at all!

at first it was a liitle confusing but after the first couple pages it got easier! i absolutely loved this book! one of my favorites! and when clay was talking about stuff like he felt like throwing up, so did i! my stomach was in knots through the whole book! super good! i would totally read it again! and thats breaking my rule! "never read a book twice" UNLESS its this GOOD!!!!!

and it was Selena's voice? i thought is was her but i wasn't sure. wow, ok if she really was the one on those tapes then i have hopes for this movie

Sara-Sadiya: Yeah! And the book didn't really say a lot about Clay's apperance, but I pictured him as kinda pale, darkish blonde hair, blue eyes..... Soo, I think Logan is definitely the spot for this!! And plus, Taylor's been in the twilight movies, and those are like totally fantasy... And this story is something that I think could happen, so Taylor just seems like a fantasy guy. I guess that Logan is to with The Lighting Theif... but still, I just would like Logan in it a lot more... We'll see(;

Me i hated the Lightning Thief it was nothing like the book! ((sorry back on topic)) yeah Logan just seems like he could be it. though i imagined Clay tall, brown hair, brown eyes. i was kinda annoyed that the book didn't say much about Clay's appearence or Clay in genral, so the director has a lotta space to do whatever he wants w/ that character. so long as it's not Lautner . . .

Yeah, I hated Lighting Theif movie too! It didn't say anything that was in the book really....Well, yeah, Asher kinda described Clay... Like his relationship with Tony and Hannah and Skye... His mommy too kinda..... But I thought it could have been a little more about Clay then Hannah. After all, the book was told in the point of view of Clay.... But I hope it's a good movie.. I just don't really want to have to relive through some parts...

There WERE spots where the switch in the POV (Point of view) was a bit confusing. Even more so when switching from the male character in present tense to the male character in past tense.

I understand that this book was done as an audio-book with a male and a female reader and that that helped make the whole thing more effortless. Given the nature of the story I'd like to check out the audiobook copy of this as it might be more in keeping with the format than the printed text.

Funny you should mention it. I had no problems, but my mom said it confused her. I thought it was something weird about her generation, like how she has trouble reading in all-lowercase.

No, I thought it was quite clear when it was the tapes and when it was Clay's reactions to them.

I think having Hannah's point of view in italics and Clay's in regular print made it easier to understand. It would be difficult to see Clay's reactions to Hannah's message on the tapes if it wasn't written that way. I found online that in 2011 the movie rights for this book has been put to order. Now we need a real trailer and release date. I was expecting the main character to look more like the girl on the cover, but I know it's hard to match it up perfectly. Whoever they choose to cast, I just hope they perform the roles well and stick to the book.
