What is so special about Adrain?

I don't get it. What has Adrian got that rose should feel obliged to choose him instead of Dimitri?. I accept he's handsome, a royal moroi and has a sense of humor. But he's a slacker, an irresponsible person not to mention self centered with a long list of vices that outnumbers his virtues if he even has any. He seems totally incapable of finding himself a proper person to love, all he can do is set his heart on girls who either are already in a relationship or those who have just broken up from their boyfriends. He cannot just stalk Rose into loving him. He might try to rescue her from the scrapes she normally ends up in or shower with frivolous and beautiful gifts or even protect her from every possible harm. But Adrian will never have her heart.
Dimitri on the other hand is too good, sensible, loyal, responsible, loving and honorable. Of course he 's too handsome and sexy.
Rose does not need protection from Adrian where she wants to be her own master making her own decisions.
Simply by being with Dimitri, her aura is brighter than sun, she is herself around him, they can finish each others sentences, they know each other too well to tell what they're thinking. They would sacrifice their life for one another.
It is my opinion that Rose is right with Dimitri and Adrian cannot feel cheated if she did not pick him. He did not have a chance in the first place. Adrian was nothing more than a distraction, a medicine for her broken heart to find peace. She accepted Adrian and thought she could move on but found it impossible to see him in the place of Dimitri.
It's just my opinion and i mean no offense or hurt any one's opinion.

Oh, wow this is SO what I was thinking. Maybe it's something to do with him being funny or just a player-type character?

I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment of Dimitri and his rightness for Rose. He’s amazing, and I never stopped rooting for him in the story, however I did develop a soft spot for Adrian and I was truly grieved for him when things ended up as they did. The thing about Adrian is all that player stuff is really just an act. We wears a mask of frivolity and irresponsibility, but that’s not who he is. If you judge him by his actions you’ll get a better picture of the person he is inside, and a understanding of why some people have fallen in love with him. He does so much to help Rose throughout the course of the story, at little to no benefit to himself. He patiently waits for her, picks up the pieces of her broken heart, and tries to help her heal. Then when she needs to go searching for Dimitri he makes that happen to. He cares enough about her to support her even when she acted in ways that hurt him. He’s always there for her, always gives her the benefit of the doubt. More than that we really see him grow through the series – it’s hard not to identify with him and care for him. He’s a truly good guy that loves her – and that’s beautiful right? In any other love triangle, we’d all probably root for Adrian, but Dimitri is just so… AMAZING! Hot! Honorable! All the things you’ve already said so eloquently. : )

personaly, I like the fact that he tries. He's not some super ninja like Rose or Dimitry and he's not some ancient bloodline like Lissa but he is a guy struggling with power he never wanted.

Best of all, he's honest. He tells it like it is and he never stops trying to help in his own way. Without Adrian's help, Rose never would have reached the final chapter of Last Sacrifice.

And in Bloodlines, despite acting like a depressed brat alot of the time, he still throws himself into certain death to protect Sydney. I think it's kind of inspiring to see a guy who isn't a warrior still throwing himself into certain death to protect him friend.

I agree he tried to help her with the finance but is it fair to buy love with money?

I'm the opposite. I don't see what people see in Dimitri and he is far from honorable.

Oh boy, where to start with this. Dimitri is honorable? I'm sorry, hypocrites aren't honorable. Sleeping with a girl who has a boyfriend isn't honorable. Having an inappropriate relationship with your student isn't honorable. Also, if Dimitri was always the "one," Rose shouldn't have lied to Adrian and kept him around while he was useful. Just because she "loved" Dimitri doesn't mean she should have cheated on Adrian.

And Adrian is self-centered? He only gave Rose money like an ATM to save her ex boyfriend's life, saves Jill's life, puts himself in danger to save Sydney's, and doesn't try to change Rose but respects her for who she is. He let Rose hurt him over and over again and still stuck by her. If anyone was selfish and dishonorable in this series, it was Rose and Dimitri.

The one thing I love about Adrian most of all is that he knows he isn't perfect. He's mature enough to know his flaws and short comings rather than act like he's some knight. Dimitri is a fraud.

He is not perfect. He is sooo reckless. .He is sooo cute and sxc. ect, ect, ect. So many reasons that is special about Adrian.
