Hazel Gifford | 10 comments Hi jill, nice to meet you. For the most part i havent seen many active topics. I am still fairly new to good reads. I am guessing, but it seems like anyone can start a new thread.

message 57: by Hazel (new)

Hazel Gifford | 10 comments No i havent. I never even heard of it. I am going to do a search and look for it.

message 58: by Jill (new)

Jill Bugay I refer to it a lot. I bought it on my NOOK :)

message 59: by Hazel (new)

Hazel Gifford | 10 comments Dont you love ebooks? I dont have a nook, but i do use kindle and ibooks. Though i have noticed that the kindle has cheaper books than ibooks. How are the prices n the nook?

message 60: by Jill (new)

Jill Bugay They are pricy. I usually get the samples and if they are good I request the book from the library.
I think kindle is way better. But my NOOK was a gift :)

Hazel Gifford | 10 comments I do the same unless it is a keeper, you know you can still use kindle books on the computer. There so many free ones that are available.

Jasmine's (jasminesnook) poke. hoping its still not dead. We are just about to start our homeschool journey with my preschooler. Any advice on Curriculums or resources or activities that your young children loved?

message 63: by Katrina (new)

Katrina Lybbert | 1 comments I am still here, though my kids are all grown. I shared ideas of things I did on my website https://www.letteroftheweek.com/

It hasn't been updated for a while but I am going to relaunch the website at a future date.

The preschool years are the best!

message 64: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Bayer (magical_childhood) I'm here too. Mama of 5, two of whom have graduated and one about to. My youngest are 10 and 14 now. For the preschool age, play, play, play! Kids learn best through moving and playing. Read together, get into nature, talk, do kitchen table experiments like taking apart a green pepper, mixing baking soda and vinegar (add food coloring to little batches to teach color mixing and make it pretty too!), things like that. Enjoy the adventure!

Brittany (homegrowntribe) | 1 comments I'm actually new to this group... I am not new to homeschooling though. I have 9 children, 2 graduated, 6 unschooling/homeschooling and the baby is just having fun. ha! Preschool is such an amazing time. I agree with Alicia. All you need to do is read, play, go outside and live life. They learn so much through being actively involved in everyday life. If you need some book suggestions with ideas as to discussions, activities, ect. I would check out Five in a Row. Most of the books are available at the library, although you and your child might fall in love with them and want to own them.

Sandy (sngrant) | 2 comments Preschool is the best. (Much less stressful than teenagers LOL).

Here is some info that one of my fellow homeschoolers shares in regards to preschool homeschooling.

"Here's a set of stuff I recommend over and over to people with young kids. You do NOT need a teacher to talk things over with - kindergarteners should spend 15 minutes a day on each of math / pre-math, reading / pre-reading, and writing / pre-writing, for 3 days a week (you can do 4 if you MUST, but you don't need to). Read to / with them every day. Go to the library. Go to the park. Find local park days and talk to other homeschooling moms. This isn't complicated and it isn't hard - you CAN do it. ❤

Get Before Five In A Row by Jane Claire Lambert and use that as a spine for most of your days. It's really nice - you read the same children's book every day (uh oh, this violates my 3 days a week rule, but you're allowed to read to your kids every day, so ... 🙂 ). They have a whole bunch of educational activities to pair with each book - you just pick the ones you like best."
