message 1: by Charissa, That's Ms. Obnoxious Twat to You. (new)

Charissa (dakinigrl) | 3614 comments Mod
So... I've been out of it for quite a while now. Life has undercut my online time. Darn that life. Family, friends and The Plague have conspired to draw all strength and will power from my being, leaving me a blank-minded drone when I stumble at last to my keyboard.

In my absence... things have kind of gone dead here. Or... perhaps things were dying here before that. Perhaps we have explored all the deeper meaning that any of us are really interested in. Perhaps all the political infighting has driven even the most hardy of us from the halls of Axis. Is it the end of Camelot?

My co-moderator has even started his own group. That's how dead this place is.

Shall I put a stake through the heart of this beast and have done with it? Shall I pass the mantle of this forum to another willing soul to remodel and hang a sign "under new management"? Perhaps it is time for me to become just another voice again in the melee... not the traffic cop in the Halls of Mundi.

What say you all? Any thoughts? Any volunteers? Any nominations? Anybody got some chocolate?

Speak.

Xysea (xysea) I think part of it is where peoples' interests lie. Right now, I'm involved in politics and gardening, and my poetry thing. I spend time here when I can but that's been tight lately. It comes in waves...

But I'm still around, and I've seen a few others around, too...

I wouldn't call Axis Dead. Maybe it is just going through a recovery phase. Your sick, it's sick.

Neh, I think it is just a weird time, everyone seems busy. I normally live on Good reads when I'm at work, but these last weeks I just haven't had the time.

message 4: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony No, no, no...don't kill it. We're getting more action here than in a lot of groups. I'm teaching now...more later.

The other group was a reaction to crap in other groups, not the Axis...I think the Axis has a good niche.

The Axis seems fine to me, too. This is the place I come for some serious, and not so serious, political thought.
I'd hate to see it go, Charissa and everyone.

message 6: by Dave (new)

Dave Russell If anyone thought it should go, why would they still be in this group?

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

No, I like Axis the way it is. I understand why RA did what he did, it was sort of a non-violent form of protest. Donald did the same. I only have the ability to follow a few threads at a time these days, but I don't think it's dead at all.

message 8: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony You know, I should be careful with what I say...on a lark I thought we needed another place to talk...it wasn't completely connected to miniam issues. But I think every now and then we're going to need new ways to mix up conversations and participants. New boards are fun because people who had focused on only one or two boards tend to find new people and interactions. But that doesn't mean anything has to close. All boards will, I suppose, eventually die natural deaths, but I like True North, I like the Axis, and I liked Miniam. They all have their own feels and participants. Hey, let's face it, sometimes a smaller group is better, and not everybody around here likes each other and wants to interact with each other on boards. So...multiple boards, like rooms at a party, are good, right? I hope so.

Group Hug!

accidentally feels up Nick

Not Bill | 1061 comments Spot on, Dave. hmmm, that has a familiar feel to it. lol

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

I recently went through and weeded out my groups, resigned from a few. I wouldn't have considered resigning from Axis or Mini Am. I love them both. Sometimes I feel like the child of divorced parents though. Oh, wait...I am! :)

I haven't participated in True North really, on my couple of visits it seemed really heavy for me. That's good though, for y'all. So far I'm enjoying the new group quite a lot. I think that RA's thread starter questions might be my favorite of anyone, they are almost always clever and strange...two of my favorite qualities in life! And yet, I still think he's studying some sociological issues and I'm his guinea pig...

Petra X (petra-x) I haven't been in the group long but I really like it. I also like SSH's comment:

there is your proof Charris... if you touch that kill button were all going to hunt you down and give you a spanking... {Nick pauses a moment and remembers who exactly he is threatening} Eh, If you DON'T touch that button you will get a spanking ;)

message 15: by Lori (new)

Lori Nooooo! Don't take teh Axis awaaaaaay! This is where I come for all my current events discussions, I learn here too! And I need the What Cheered Me Up thread and it's antithesis, which somehow also manages to cheer me up. Misery loves company and all.

You silly girl. Axis has been more active than other groups lately. I think we're all wiped out from this election that seems like it's lasted my whole life by now.

Reads with Scotch | 1977 comments Mod
And just think in 15 days the election coverage will be over, and then we will have the voter fraud issue shoved down our throats, and then they will start on the mid-term elections for congress, YEY! more elections. Do our elected officials do anything besides running campaigns?

message 17: by Lori (new)

Lori Nick, must you???? Is there any end in sight???

Reads with Scotch | 1977 comments Mod
just doing what I can to "keep it real" ;)

message 19: by Xysea (new)

Xysea (xysea) Once the election is over, I hope people won't be starting a Clinton-style witchhunt with the Obamas and we can all return to sanity...

:D

But yes, it will get better soon...Promise!

message 20: by Lori (new)

Lori *gasp* Not True North, Sherri?

message 21: by Jackie "the Librarian", Cool Star Trek Nerd (new)

Jackie "the Librarian" | 1811 comments Mod
Can't be. There are people posting there regularly, on several threads. True North is alive and well. And just got a new avatar, by the way.

message 22: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony Hey...I signed up for outright vulgarity, buddy...

And the Red Sox stink.

:)

message 23: by Cyril (new)

Wow! Okay... I'll put my wooden stake back in it's box and shove it back under my bed. This Creature of the Undead shall walk the earth a while longer.

I loves you guys. : )

Not Bill | 1061 comments Boo! bwahahaha!

... and a hail and hearty huzzah to Charissa. She's endured much, and conquered all.

Good show.

message 26: by Cyril (new)

Cyril No burning at the stake? No hanging? No drawing and quartering?

I guess I'll take my lawn chair and picnic basket and go home.

message 27: by John (new)

John Holzer (jilsao) Glad to see the group's still here after a couple months absence. From the look of things it hasn't changed much either;-)

Axis Mundi: still giving new meaning to "group home"...

Talk at y'all soon,
Johnny

we put the esh in special.

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

Edit: Have to say it made me smile when I read someone felt True North was too -- I think the phrase was something to do with being too deep and heavy -- when I recall we have a current thread about our cats, and one thread a while back about the food we loved as kids but can't eat anymore.

That was me...I haven't gone in to see for a long time.
