~*Trema*~ (tremarenae) | 41 comments Can anyone help me or explain how do i make a book rating scale? As in if I want to add to each post/review how many stars or whatever i want to rate that book.
I have seen so many different types and they are a great idea. I've also seen where the blogger lists how she rates each one on the sidebar.
Any help? TIA

Daphne (Illumicrate) (daph) | 12 comments I'm not sure if you are talking about making the graphics like the stars, for example, or actually coming up with a rating scale idea?

If you make graphics of stars or whatever, you can post how many of them you rate a book at the start or end of your review. Other people use percentages, or just a simple 8/10 as well, so anything goes.

In terms of adding things to a sidebar, this differs between what blogging platform you're using. If you need specific help, let me know.

Kat (katzombie) I'm completely lost when it comes to stuff like this - so I ended up creating mine with a mixture of Word, Paint and Picture editor.....took me a while!

Kat, I've tried doing the same thing as well, but I don't know how to save a Word document as an image. Every time I try to upload it anywhere, the file is blank or has a ton of background that I don't want. I'm so confused! How did you do it??

Kat (katzombie) The easiest thing to do is print-screen what you want (from Word, the Internet, wherever) and paste into Paint. Then 'save as' and change the file extension to .jpeg. Open the image in Picture Manager, then you can crop, resize etc.

Julia (juliavdc) | 48 comments I do most of my blogging from my phone, and just use these little things as stars: •
I'm working on doing my own unique thing. Maybe "Pounces" or something. (www.lerenifleurleopard.blogspot.com)

Cain Freeman (nobsbooks) | 41 comments Personally, I'd advise against numeric rating systems, including stars. It seems that many people fall back on them rather than saying much in the review.

The best way to make them that I can think of is using Photoshop, or an equivalent piece of software. Considering the number of user created plugnins for all the various software out there, they really are a one stop shop. I'm not an art person though. That'd be my advice though.

Nenia Campbell (neniacampbell) Here's my rating system, if you want an example!
