Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments Someone suggested a thread for help searching for forgotten books. I myself have been searching for a vampire book I read years ago, but since all vampire plots sound similar, I've had no luck at all.

So post what you remember about that long lost book and pray that someone here can name that title.

"My dad took a horror book away from me when I was a teen. He put it somewhere and lost it and I never got it back. Worse, I can't remember the name of the book! I know it had two main characters called Otis and Clay and the book starts with the desecretion of a church. Been driving me mad for years!"

Does this sound familiar to anyone? I'd sure like to help him out with a title.

I know I'm responding to this rather late but your post reminded me of a vampire book I read around 1990 - Those Who Hunt the Night. Could this be the book you were looking for?

I hope this info is not too late. I wonder if your friend is thinking of Cabal: The nightbreed as this contains a two-in-one character named Otis and Clay.

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments Dang, no. But thanks for trying, Greg.

I talked to someone at HA about this no more than two years ago. He was the only person I'd ever met who had read it, but I can't remember who it is. The cover shows some people in what looks like a hole looking up. It's about a master vampire who comes to a small town. He's in his coffin and a married woman with a son about 10 years old keeps hearing the lure of the vampire and she goes and breaks open his coffin. He turns her into a vampire and most of the town (maybe it's a small place in Europe, can't remember). The boy and some other man has to go underground and try to kill these vampires. It's really creepy and I was hoping someone would recognize the plot because it's driving me nuts. I used to own the book but got rid of it for some reason.

Melki | 52 comments Thanks, Greg. I read that book in 1988 and barely remember it, but it seems like a good guess. I passed on the info.

I thought it was a long shot alright - there are soooo many vampire novels out there! Regrettably, I have to admit that the plot you describe doesn't sound familiar to me.

Hope it's the right book!

God, I know. Most vamp plots sound the same: vamp moves into town, bites most of the population, group of crusaders try to put a stake in his heart. I was hoping Will would recognize it but no luck.

Char | 17457 comments For some reason, Tressa, your description of vamp books is making me giggle! *grinning*

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments I wish I could get a job writing the book flap summaries for vampire books. I'd just cut and paste my brief description over and over and over again.

LOL I'm sure somebody else already does that! :P
