SOLVED. Prehistoric superbeast rampages through modern times [s]

Someone finds a frozen, previously undiscovered prehistoric beast. A scientist injects himself with its DNA and mutates into the beast (looks something like a sasquatch if I remember correctly). It turns out to be a superkiller that rapidly adapts to any new threats (i.e. it becomes impervious to bullets, blunt trauma, etc.). A Special Ops team is formed to kill it, with a loner tracker leading them.

The tracker may be named David and he may have a pet wolf. I remember that one member of the team is a female sniper, and another carries a samurai sword.

I read this book at least 10-15 years ago, and I'm not sure if it was new then. Thanks for any help you can give me!
