How does Brett's struggle with identity effect both his estimation of himself and his relationships with others? Do you relate? Why or why not?



He doesn't hate that he is gay...he hates that he feels the need to keep it a secret. He wants to be good. He knows he has God in his corner...yet the juxtaposition of his hiding his gayness and accepting God and knowing God accepts him keeps him on the edge of nothingness.

That's weird. I didn't think Brett struggling with his identity was about him being gay. I thought he was pretty sure of that. Plus, he didn't seem like a big believer in God either.
But maybe it was all a metaphor and I didn't catch that?
