J I just finshed the book and appraised the title again---it just does not seem to fit. Evie was deceived by people she loved and remained clueless.
In the end, her vision became more clear, but she was still haunted by so many questions. She didn't "see" anything---and she lied to protect her family and herself. I think it should be titled, Under the Same Moon ----Peter's own words.

Carly ii agree the title dosn't seem to fit for me either. Dont no what it should be though, Under The Moon is a good one tho. :)

Library Lady 📚 My sister said this should be the title of the book/movie Atonement. It does fit better with that.

However, doesn't Evie see some things, at least as in she understands them? And she lies at the trial. However, it might not be the best title for this book. Catchy, though.

Dana I thought that what she "saw" included the mistreatment and prejudice against the Jewish people and the black girl at the water fountain. That seemed to make a big impression on her.

Madeleine I think Evie is observant- the whole book is her POV and the things she sees but doesn't understand until later in her life. What she sees does shape her. She sees visual proof of her mother and Peter. She sees prejudice. She sees adults behaving badly. She learns from these moments. What she saw were little tidbits of evidence in the relationships of all the adults; Peter, her mother, Joe, the Graysons. She had to read deeper past the surface level of all the conflict and complication. I think it's a good title.
