Author Interviews at Tim Greaton Forum... discussion
Hello thread

Marla

No, I just now got a chance to get here and read it. We do have a unique cycle...work on book...market book...try to get next book out while still marketing first book. I feel like a juggler some days, only problem is I'm not all that coordinated. :)
I'm still trying to figure out things on GenreBuds in the sense that I think I messed something up. I got a reply on my e-mail but not sure if this is a valid person so I'm awaiting confirmation this is indeed a valid administrator of the program. They are in beta testing, so I'm sure they are really busy right now.
I'm hoping that GenreBuds will be the answer we are seeking for the relationship between readers and authors.

I hope you enjoy it, Marla. Please let me know - whether through my page at Amazon or through e-mail.
Thanks!

I hear you about going to bed. That's where I should be.
Thanks for the coupon code. I've used it. I'll read your book ASAP but have several in front and waning time to read lately.
Lynn"
Not a problem, Lynn; the book will always be there. :)

A story that will send shivers down your spine..., October 19, 2011
By Tim Greaton "Tim Greaton" (Maine) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: "Crystal Clear" A Supernatural Mystery (Kindle Edition)
RC Drake is an author with a history of telling tales...and with Crystal Clear it shows.
Susan Middleton is a woman on the verge of mental collapse. With her family's finances in ruins and her husband Dale's dead body on its way to the morgue, she does what any woman would do for her child: she survives. Leaving the remnants of their shattered life behind, Susan throws their necessary belongings into an old car and drives her daughter Caroline halfway across the country to a wonderful town where she feels they will have a chance to start over.
And so RC Drake starts us along an eerie and twisting path. Her changing pace and moving points of view will keep you guessing as her heroines struggle through a terrifying ordeal. And that last page...well that one will keep you up at night.
Crystal Clear is a fascinating tale, suitable for all ages.

I just tallied numbers and I'm only a few away from my total August sales already. The last couple of days have been great, and I've sold more books in England this month than in the last three months combined :-)

I had a few people buy my book at Smashwords from the coupon I generated. I am seriously debating whether I should reduce the price to 99 cents as so many authors have done. Then again, perhaps people are waiting for the sequel so they know they will have something else to read in the future.

I'm glad to hear that it's appropriate for any age group because the story line sounded scary, even for me, though I had planned to read it in the near future.
It's the first time in my life I've had a - somewhat - schedule of what book I would read, and when. :)

Congratulations! That's wonderful!

They are still in Beta testing so maybe not everything is working the way they thought it would. If I can get back to Admin here in a minute then I'll see if they can make it a lot more user-friendly.
They need to realize most readers aren't computer wizards. :)
Have a great one!
Lynn

I've never heard of that site and it sounds like I'm not missing anything whatsoever. :)

I mentioned to Vince that my friends would like it to be more user friendly before going into it. Let's see what happens. I know it isn't easy building or being behind the scenes of a website. This is a huge under taking. So please give them time to get the bugs worked out.

Norma, I reduced all my prices to 99 cents for one simple reason: Until I'm selling enough that the income actually makes a difference in my life, I'd rather build an audience more than I'd like to stare at non-selling or slowly selling books :-)

I tried to import my book list from Goodreads and I ended up so frustrated that I thought I would scream! I have rated and/or reviewed almost 600 books here on Goodreads and I don't want to start that list over
Charity: I will agree that just building the Goodreads booklist has been a lot of work, and I haven't even remotely given proper reviews to most of them yet. We have definitely invested a lot of time and energy into this site. Let's hope it sticks around :-)

My sentiments exactly...
I have to say I'm seriously hoping my sales keep moving in this direction. This might have been one of my best sales days in the history of all my sales days. Best of all, it seems that all of my titles are moving :-)

Shasta Summer was put on Kindle as a free download... I had 240 downloads 'over night' which eventually led to quite a few 'normal sales' because of the interest generated. It may be worth considering this if you wish you name to get known first.

That's wonderful news, Tim! Congrats.

I tried something similar, Tee. I first offered "Bones in the Tree" as a free book on Smashwords. In just a few days, it was downloaded 345 times but my sales numbers on my other titles didn't really move much after a week, so I raised the price to 99 cents. We never did try it on Amazon because my brother was unable to list any book there for under 99 cents. They said it was "against policy." I think only larger publishers can do that.

Thanks, Sandy. If I could get every day to look like that, it would be a great world. I'm starting to believe there are no silver bullets, and that constant exposure from every possible location is what makes sales rise to critical mass. After that, peer pressure will take over :-)

Great to hear, Tim. I wish you the best at keeping the ball rolling.

How weird Tim, maybe my publisher was able to 'get in the back door' for a while as they did it for several books at the time.

Congrats, Arthur! Liked and tagged.

Kellieanne, never heard of Bookreviewerslist.
Stop by my web site to see some books which have medicine spinkled into the background of their plots. (A romantic suspense, a general/historical fiction, an upcoming release, and dog books for children!)

I'm still under the impression that Amazon and Kindle are 'bed mates'.
The computers can be so complex and ballpoints are slow but sometimes just sometimes ..... sighs!

Virginia, Thanks for the book! I've added it to my TBR list. I didn't need the coupon to download it.

My own thoughts on all of the above are....
Yes I try and read/review all genres regardless of my preferred genre. (I remember the days when no one wanted to read my fantasy/time travel)Now it's #1 on Goodreads.
If we don't give someone a chance....?
If it's absolute rubbish then that is a different matter of course. and mostly in my experience once you get into the storyline, most are quite good.
Yes like everyone else I get exhausted with promo, promo, and more promo, but it's the only way to get noticed. Also of course it was my decision to be an Indie author, so it's up to me and my publisher whether I sink or swim. I could certainly do with some inflatables at times though :)
