Author Interviews at Tim Greaton Forum... discussion
Hello thread
Thanks, everyone. I've always known I had to be a writer...but it's nice when others think so, as well :-)
Here's my latest post to Paragraph Planet:
Things Change.
She adjusted the noose and tugged it as snug as her favorite turtleneck. Her feet shuffled back and forth across the queen-sized bed her stepfather had bought her two weeks after her mother died, the day after his first midnight visit to her room. She could still remember the pain, the blood…but mostly the shame. Tears streaked her cheeks.
She double-checked the rope. Secure.
“Have another sleeping pill, Bob!”
She kicked him off her bed.

Thank you.

Wow that was quick and thank you so much Nel. Have you any photo's that I can use to boast about it?
Best wishes on this wonderful autumn morning.

My other book Eye of Erasmus which forms the trilogy has had a bit of a make over with a new book cover. I would appreciate feed back on this please. I couldn't decide how to put the image on here so perhaps you wouldn't mind looking at it here....

I like the first two covers. I think you need to make the art image of the eye more like a photograph to match your other two covers :-)

Hi Tim
Actually the art one on the left of the blog is yes, a painting and it is now superceeded by the black and white cover with the red writing. Eventually I will take the other one down as that was originally for the YA market.
Thanks for your input though. My publisher was well chuffed with it.

Thanks Sandy so much. I love the way the eyes follow you about.

Hi, Nel. I have another one going up tonight. I'll let you know as soon as I look at the list :-)

Morning Virginia
To be honest I was guided by my publisher as I'm no expert on this.
Whilst writing both Eye of Erasmus and Shasta Summer I was concious of bad language use and sex scenes etc. I needn't have worried as it happens the more raunchy/darker the book is the more they love it.
As it happens, to my knowledge it hasn't been read by any teenagers, only adults and they have been rather gushing about it. EOE is darker than Shasta Summer and yet both books have been received well.
Think Harry Potter, JKR wrote them for the YA market and yet endless adults read and love them.
I have male readers read both my books and email me privately requesting a time line for the next in the series as they are desperate to carry on with the series.
So probably not much help but age genre's I always have trouble with.
So with your book Virginia..... Stand away from it for a while and ask your self this - "Is this a book I would pick up as an adult and enjoy, or would I buy it for my son daughter to read?" Which brings me back to the quandary of HP. Is it YA or Adult Fiction .....
I would be inclined to put your book under YA and also whichever other adult genre it would happily fit into.

Morning Nell
It's a dull and grey one here with an easterly wind. Not nice. :(

Personally I love the heat (which we didn't have this summer but hey ho such is the English weather.

Hi Sandy
I tried to open the link, but no luck.
I will try again tomorrow, and of course I'll share for you.
Tee

Great interview etc. Shared, done and dusted with others. Oh! and also now following you :)

No worries. We're in the same boat honey. We need to help one another out.

Actually no I haven't seen that site honey but off now to see if I can't find that link.

It is a fun place, USUALLY.(SB,TB, that is)"
Here ya go then sweetie http://www.smartbitchestrashybooks.com/
I agree it does look fun.

Apparently they are updating their site, so I've bookmarked it to check it out later.

Smiles - me too. Usually because I have my nose in a book!

That must have been a little scary to have an earthquake so relatively close to you. Oklahoma City had one a couple weeks back and we felt in North Texas. It was like a little shake - shake feeling. That's probably a hundred miles from here. Glad the dam is all right.
If you post the link to where to find your cover art, I'd be happy to go and admire it.
Lynn

Oh my that does sound scary. Especially with the china and the crystal rattling.
We don't have cable here. It felt like maybe the cat learned a new trick of pushing on my chair. Then my friend came in and asked if I felt it. That's when we both knew something happened. So I jumped on FB and twitter to see if anyone else had felt it. It took a little bit but my sister confirmed that it came from Oklahoma City where they had a 5.6 Earthquake this after having another similar one the previous day so we weren't exactly sure until we got it verified. Several of my friends in Oklahoma then confirmed that they felt it where they lived as well.
Glad you are all right.
Lynn

A wonderful heart warming story that had me alternately feeling good and on the verge of tears as we learn of Skip’s travails. Tim Greaton’s The Santa Shop has a message for all of us at this special time of year as the holidays draw near. A wonderful mix of fantasy and fact, we are lessoned with the meaning of living a full life, and reminded of how much we have to look forward to. With a straightforward yet descriptive style, Tim puts us at the scene and in fact in the scene. This wonderfully well told story deserves five stars. You won’t be able to put it down. I smile when I think about it.
