Meg (megvt) | 3069 comments Nominations for the next chunky read. Please do not nominate if you do not plan on being part of this group. Books of 750+ are considered chunky.

message 4: by Marialyce (new)

Marialyce Depending on the start time, Meg, I would like to nominate 2666.

Meg (megvt) | 3069 comments I am thinking we should start November 13th

message 11: by Meg (new)

Meg (megvt) | 3069 comments Marialyce,
I looked at that book and only saw a Spanish version, is there an English version?

message 12: by Marialyce (new)

Marialyce Meg, yes, there is.
An English-language translation by Natasha Wimmer was published in the US on November 11, 2008, by Farrar, Straus and Giroux, and in the United Kingdom on January 9, 2009, by Picador.

Jennifer W | 2175 comments I'd like to nominate The Magic Mountain by Thomas Mann, unless we're going with Tera's idea and reading Anna K: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/6...

ugh I'm so sorry I didn't see this post when I started the Anna K one. You'd think I'd know better to look past the first page when I've been gone a week. Truly no pressure I can just let Anna K run longer without it being your chunky read.

message 15: by Jennifer W (new)

Jennifer W | 2175 comments No worries, Tera, Anna K. and all these are on my "someday" list, I wouldn't mind any of them.

message 16: by Meg (new)

Meg (megvt) | 3069 comments that is no problem Tera, we will pick some other books!

message 17: by Meg (new)

Meg (megvt) | 3069 comments This thread closes tonight!

message 18: by Jennifer W (new)

Jennifer W | 2175 comments I just noticed that there's a poll up for this. I had to scroll through a lot of other polls to find it, though. I just thought I'd bring it to everyone's attention that it's out there!

message 19: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Maybe a poll # would help us to find it.

message 20: by Kristen (new)

Kristen could someone post the link - I don't see it. thanks!

message 21: by Kristen (new)

Kristen oh, I see it - poll #49

Meg I hope you don't mind but i went in and made this featured on the home page so that its right on the home page at the bottom like the other polls. If youd rather have it on the polls page I can switch it (or you can in the edit feature)

message 25: by Lori (new)

Lori Noe | 28 comments I've never have participated in a chunky read. When does it start? When do you finish? How does it work?

message 26: by Meg (new)

Meg (megvt) | 3069 comments Tera -- thank you for doing that

Lori
I think we will start around 11/13. We read approximately 100 pages per week and discuss as we read. We would love to have you. Our next book will be Brothers Karamazov.

message 27: by Lori (new)

Lori Noe | 28 comments I will try and join you! Thanks Tera!
