Yes, I would recommend reading Impulse first.
I mean, it is a companion novel so what happens in Perfect is happening in parallel to Impulse time-wise, but the end of Perfect is going to be a huge spoiler for Impulse - so yes, I would read Impulse first. It's a great book, too, so I hope you like it.

Both books tell powerful, moving stories. Impulse centers around the issues of teenage suicide. Perfect, as the title hints at, is about achieving perfection at all costs.

yes, Impulse should be read first. If I read perfect first, like I was originally going to, I would have been ticked. So yes, Impulse! And by the way, Impulse was waaaaaayyyy better than Pefect. Everything in Perfect just cuts off because of a big event. So ridiculous
No, I read this first then a few of her other books before I stumbled along to Impulse. Cara and Conner tie in together but you can figure it out just fine no matter which order you read them in.
