Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) Remeber in MJ Coin wanted to save Peeta? What if they all wanted Peeta to be they Mockingjay. Would things turn out the same?? What do you think would happen?

Shay I think Peeta wouldn't have allowed himself to be taken advantage of so much. He would have made sure Katniss was safe and figure out how to end the war along with the hunger games. Oo

أثير The revolution would never have succeeded if he was the mockingjay. Because he would not participate in killing anyone except who gets 'physically' in his way to save Katniss. And eventually he'll be killed after saving her in the square while trying to talk everyone to cease fire.

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) Yeah..Peeta's too nice..In fact nicer than nice because I mean, you have to kill people to end the hunger games, which would be being nice.

Kristin Coin would have her lackey and an unsuccessful revolution. As eloquent as Peeta was, Katniss had the determination and attitude needed to move the Rebels forward. I also agree with Atheer....that was always priority #1.

Jodi Peeta wanted to cease fire, and he didn't understand that cease fire wasn't an option. But, if you think about it Katniss was just there face for the screen. She didn't really have a say in what happened (Maybe she did. I don't know. xD It's been a while since I've read it)

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) She was just a piece in their games..(Coins)

Diana Townsend Peeta was way too nice and not brutal enough to be the Mockingjay. He is my sweetheart but not a killer. Plus, would he have known to kill Coins in the end? I doubt it.

Michael It wouldn't make sense for him, he wasn't bright enough to come up with the plan to do the double kill at the end of the hunger games. Plus it makes sense Katniss was it because she had to save him way more than he did to her. He's way to emotional.

Kathleen Harsch Katniss had to be the Mockingjay because she is the one who truly represents the revolution and is most like the bird, mockingjay, that symbolizes her and all who follow her. She was created by her society, just as the mockingjay was created by the geneticists of her society. Because she voiced her opinion and decided not to be the only one left alive at the Hunger Games, she is much like the mockingjay who repeats what it hears (even if the idea is unpopular). She is also banned from that same society who created her, just as the mockingjay was banned. Both were also used by their government when it became convenient, even after both had become outcasts. Of course, her life takes a horrible toll on her, and that's why Peeta is so important - he understands her and loves her, even though she is broken.

peeta couldn't be the mockingjay peolpe wouldn't allow it. from book one katniss was the one that wore the mockingjay token, not peeta. but if they were desperate....

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) People do anything when they are desperate..and Kathleen, you made an excellent point.

JP Capili Peeta was powerful with words as much as Katniss was powerful with weapons. But I think he would be blinded by the corruption of Coin.

Caroline Carruthers I think he would've been great as the Mockingjay. He's calmer than Katniss and would have been better at it. Katniss always said he was good at talking to people and motivating them -- in Catching Fire she says that he's the one who should lead a rebellion.

And as for killing Coin... who says he'd have to do it? Maybe by then Katniss would have been freed and she'd have figured it out and done it. I think the story with Peeta as the figurehead would have been entirely different. :-)

Allison While reading the book I fervently wished for Peeta to become the voice of the rebellion as Katniss was the face. She was an image for them to rally behind while he could have been the true leader. He had the charisma and the intelligence and compassion that could have led them into peace. Of course he wouldn't have done any killing himself, that's not what political leaders do.

Kathleen Harsch He was, but because he was captured and tortured, he never truly got the chance. However, I imagine that as Katniss healed and he healed and they have children, that he may have helped the facilitation of that possibility.
