What Are You Currently Reading?

I'm reading The Complete Grimm's Fairy Tales. The TV show Grimm is about start airing in Ireland for the 1st time this week. Since is supposed to be based on storylines from the book, I wanted to read it first before I start watching the series.

In a somewhat similar vein, but less monster of the week than Grimm, there is also Once Upon A Time, which is also pretty good. You might check that out too.

I am currently listening to A Northern Light and reading The Wedding Quilt by Jennifer Chiaverini. The latter book is part of the Elm Creek Quilt series which I have really enjoyed.

A Northern light by Jennifer Donnelly? If so, I love that book (but it's not as good as her Tea rose trilogy)

I agree about The Tea Rose. Boy did I love that book. Written like the old timers of sagas. A little disappointed in the sequels but...........

Have you ever read As the Crow Flies by Jeffrey Archer. Another one of a kind book.

I gave uo on The Flame Alphabet. I hate to give up on a book, especially one that has received good critical reviews but I just couldn't find anything to like.
Turning to Running the Rift which I believe is a better fit for me.

No I haven't read As the Crow Flies by Jeffrey Archer, but I just looked it up and it sounds good! I'll have to look for it.

I actually really enjoyed The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. I'm not usually a fan of the genre, but it held my attention, and once I got about halfway done, I simply couldn't put it down. I recommend it.

Linda, I thought it was pretty good. It kind of put me in mind of Gossip Girl, but in my opinion more interesting. I really liked the 20's Chicago setting.

It wasn't amazing, but it wasn't a waste of time either. It's a fairly quick read- I'd give it a shot :)

No I haven't read As the Crow Flies by Jeffrey Archer, but I just looked it up and it sounds good! I'll have to look for it.

The third Jennifer Donnellly book was a bit disappointing but it was still OK for me. Do read As the Crow Flies - in the tradition of Ken Follett, this is one book I had to own after I read it from the library.

Say it isn't so. I loved Songs of the Humpback Whale. I actually read this after many of Jodi's books and can't say enough good things about it.

I just finished Ramage by Dudley Pope. It was a nice read in the same vien as the Horatio Hornblower Novels. I don't know if they are bonified classics or not, but it was surely a wonderful read. Pleasant, light, with some action, some romance and some intrigue. Historical Naval Fiction.

I am going to begin reading The Litigators this evening.

I have made an executive decision. With over tons and tons of books that I own and did want to read at on e time and hundreds of e books, most that were free, and over 25 reserved books at the library which I visit daily to pick up books that are available for me, I'm going to stick with my own books for a time. I find that I am constantly moving aside othher books to read the library books and it's beginning to get to me. But I've done this before - we'll see how long this lasts.

I only read my books... because, I'm um... well, kind of library ignorant other than walk in pick up check out walk out... I need e-books. My wife does all the library management. She goes on line and all sorts of things, then just goes and picks them up... me... i'd be owing the library my monthly paycheck.

So I give it to Amazon and B&N instead.

I do wish my husband would help me out with the library but as he keeps telling me he's too busy reading three newspapers. He tells me i read about la la land and I try explaining that the news is neither lyrical nor passionate. Instead its just darn depressing.

I decided I'm not in the mood for a Grisham book at this time so instead I'm going to read Mosaic: A Chronicle of Five Generations on my I PAD.

BTW if anybody has a problem with a sleeping husband who wants the lights out while you want to reade - get an I PAD. I can read all night and my husband never knows what I'm doing.

Currently reading Snake Skin by C.J. Lyons. So far it's a good read, the protaganist is likeable and those who aren't supposed to be likeable aren't for the right reasons in the right way.

Warning, the subject matter is dark and scary, but I respect the way Lyons has presented it so far.

I just finished Live Wire by Harlan Coben and continue to read Sonoma Rose and Mosaic. I went to the library to return most of my books and came home with 4 books that I reserved that came in and the first two audiotapes from Coben's Myron Bolitar series. Not sure why I didn't read this series in order since I usually do so now I get the chance to go back and fill in.

Oh definitely worth it. They are great fantasy, though quite slow to start with. If you do decide to give them another try, start with the Assassin trilogy (Assassin's Apprentice. Great read.

Just finished The Book Thief (which was life changing) and now getting on with finishing The Handmaid's Tale

OK - so I am almost finished with the audiotape of Tatiana de Rosnay's second book, A Secret Kept. I imagine after one has such a blockbuster book, it must be hard to follow it up with something equally as good, but this books isn't really worth the read in my opinion. I also listened to this quickly as I had some driving to do yesterday and then cooking so I was able not to prolong this listen.

Excellent choices! I agree, "The Book Thief" is an amazing read. There is something about the gorgeous prose offsetting the terrible reality of the subject matter that is just so heartwrenching.

"Handmaid's Tale" is also excellent. It is definitely one of my favourite Atwood books...when you finish it, if you're looking for another of hers I'd suggest . It still has a science-fiction theme, but has a contemporary plot running alongside. The book is phenomenal.

About half way through , quite good so far, reminds me of George R R Martin (with less deaths) and Daniel Abrahams. Thoughtful, well built fantasy worlds with interesting characters that reads like good historical fiction with a magical twist. Recommended.

Never did begin The Litigators.Without reading a page, I decided I wasn't in the mood for Grisham. One of the reasons I don't enjoy reserving books. They don't always come in when I want to read the books.
