“To Kill A Mocking Bird” is not boring. What do you read? Are you a voracious reader? Middle school children read this book.
Delaney wrote: "Ok, so is this book good? I heard it is, but I've also head it's the most boring book on the planet...Can someone shed some light on this book for me please?"Well, I read it some years ago, I remember liking it a lot. I fell in love with the main characters, the plot kept me reading, and the way it is written also was good to me. I don't love classics; they are usually boring to me, but I liked this one. I read in English (not my mother tongue).
So I encourage you to read it.
This is my favorite book of them all. I have read it... 3 times? Couldn't put it down, cried at the end and the author illustrates the period of time SO well. I would recommend this book to ANYONE.

I was actually making up reasons to drive somewhere just so I could listen to another chapter. I loved the reader and the characters are so vivid. After I finished it I rented the movie and watched it again after not seeing it for many years. Very touching and well acted. Loved both the book and the movie.
It's great. There's often a problem with books that are frequently studied being written off as 'boring' or 'academic'. Just try to read it as a story. No need for too much overanalysis (which some people don't enjoy). It provides an interesting look at the Alabaman deep south in a time period I, for one, knew nothing about in the region. It also has sprinklings of a good courtroom drama - and who doesn't love that?
Another fantastic book is F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “ The Great Gatsby.” The language is amazing and so is the story. Since it is set in The Roaring Twenties, it has flappers, jazz, gangsters, illegal liquor, and southern belles. It’s a great read. After you have read it, listen to it on tape.
I liked this book as a story but I think people try to pull too much symbolism out of it. I read it for school and there were SOOO many symbols in it that the teacher talked about
It wasn't a horrible book, but it definitely wasn't one of my favorites I read during high school. It might of been because I was a 14-15 year old who didn't really understand the depth of the book, but I found it extremely boring when I read it. Hopefully I'll get to reading it again one day and appreciate it more than the first time.
I loved this book when I first read it as a teenager and every time I have read it since. Also love the movie and watch it often. I didnt read for school so maybe because I could read it at my pace and not slow down for the classroom has made a difference. I know the slow classroom pace can make the best of books seem boring.

I did, however, like the movie with Leo DiCaprio.
This is a beautifully written book. The writing just flows, making it easy to enter the world Lee Harper is writing about. The characters are perfectly drawn and the story is hard to put down. I have read it many times over the years and have always loved it.
This book is a must-read for our time. As the US moves back to the 1950s in terms of civil rights and how we all view each other, Atticus Finch reminds us there is a degree of humanity and compassion in all of us. Although dated, it is a fine read.
Often we have to read books at different times in our lives. The book doesn’t change, but we do. Our life experiences enhance our understanding of literature. Until I had children of my own, I could not completely appreciate Atticus Finch as a father. “To Kill A Mockingbird” is a book that should be read again and again like Dickens “ A Christmas Carol.”
While people say there are more appropriate books to read in our time - the use of the N-word for example, throughout the book. While it may be uncomfortable for many, it has to be taken in the context of the time. Even back then there were people who took offense at this. Atticus, for example, was what we would classify as a bigot today. What is humbling is his dedication to helping an innocent man regardless of his race. In the area he lived, in the south, he took his life in his hands by doing this. And, at least in this version of the book and not the republished original manuscript, he changes his ways as he learns he is no different than the man he represented at the end of the book.
This book is a thing of beauty in retrospect. While reading it for the first time, I was somewhat bored and didn't really gather any significance from Scout's anecdotes. The importance of this novel however cannot be denied. I learned to appreciate TKAM in subsequent reads.

Cried through ta lot of it - The story was so real to me that couldn't understand how the rest of the world could be happily going about their live while this was unfolding
It's a wonderful book. I've read it twice and enjoyed it both times, as well as the film. There is always going to be someone who doesn't like just about every book ever written. You have to find out for yourself.
I read the book years ago and then re-read it a couple of years ago. I think it's one of the greatest books. I enjoyed it more the second time since I was more mature.
Amazing read. I had to read it in high school and it was one of my favorite stories and continues to be.
