Hi Marla,
been having problems with my internet so haven't been on for a couple of days. I think the Group Read folder is a good idea - I never got around to setting it up for this group. I was hoping though that since we already have a Body Double discussion thread - we could just use that one and move it back to the Rizzoli & Isles folder when it's done being featured as a group read. I'd like to avoid duplicate threads if possible. Here is the link to the Body Double Discussion thread which I've already moved into the new Group Reads folder:
http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/3...
I appreciate you getting this going, I don't mean to step on your toes. I just know in other groups duplicate threads get started and things get messy - I'd like to keep things as organized as possible.
Would you like to create a group event for Body Double? there is a link on the group homepage and you can invite everyone. Just be sure to set the date of the event for when the group read ends so it will continue to show up through out the group read. Let me know if I can help. Thanks again.

No problem. I agree about the duplicated entries never even thought of that when I did this. Am glad that you have stepped in here.

Thanks for understanding Marla :-) I was hoping you wouldn't be upset and slam the door on moderating the Tess Gerritsen Fans Group. I really appreciate your help. I got myself into too much - I moderate 4 goodreads groups and I can't keep up with it.
I will be happy to help out with the Group Read program however you would like me too. Are we going to try to feature a book every month? If we we are going to do a November group read, we should start the nominating process now. In my Dean Koontz group that I moderate, we do a group read every month and we have a schedule to get the title picked early so people have plenty of time to buy or request the title from the library. There we typically nominate for 4 days and vote on the poll for 3 days so right now November's title is being voted on via poll, so we have a title selected within the first week of the month before the title is featured. You can tweek this any way you want - just let me know what you think & I can help. If you want me to do a particular part of the nomination/voting process each month just let me know. In my Dean Koontz group, I have my co-moderator create the event & send out an invite each month - he knows this is his responsibility and I never have to deal with it :-) Let me know what things you'd like me to do if we're going to have a group read every month. At other times in this group I've featured a quarterly group read - featuring a title for 3 months. I'll support you with whatever you decide & I'll help out however you'd like.
I'm going to edit this topic, keeping it in the same folder, I'll re-title it "How Group Reads Work" so we can work out the details here :-) Thanks Again Marla! Hang in there & we'll figure this out.

Just created an Event for Body Double. We'll see how many people respond :-) I set the end date as 10/31. If you want something different we can edit it.
Also, was thinking after my last post. We could do a poll to get feedback from group members on how often they would like to do a group read : once a month, once every other month, once a quarter etc. What do you think?

I just wanted to say to you that once you get to know me better you will realize that I take all suggestions in the context that they were meant. To help me out. I think your idea about asking the group how often they want to do a group read is excellent especially if they are in a lot of groups with lots of group reads they may want to do one every other month here or however often. Would we do this as a poll? How do you think we should do this?
I just wanted to say again that I am enjoying co-moderating with you and since I am new to this I really appreciate all the help you give me. I think we work well together and hope that you feel the same way.

:-) Thanks Marla, yes a poll, whenever you want to do it and however long you want to give people to respond. When you create the poll, write whatever options/choices you think of or think would be most popular and then I would check the box to allow write in answers. Have fun!
btw, we are getting a good response from the invite (in my opinion) As of right now, 13 people have responded 7 have said no, 4 yes and 2 maybe :-) That's not too shabby.

You are very kind :-) You'll get the hang of it. If you want to add a title as moderator, click here on the list of members and scroll down to your name:

My title is "Colorful Colorado". I just added a title to Jenna our missing co-moderator :-) She was really active for 3 months and then disappeared after she moved and got a new job. I have tried to remove her as a moderator but her email is not active and I would have to remove her from the group to remove her - I haven't tried that because I was worried I'd lose all her comments. She posted 65 comments which is more than anyone else besides me (although Tracy is quickly catching up to her :-)

Marla, is it ok if we extend Body Double? I will still re-read it in 2011. I went ahead and extended it through December 31, but you are welcome to change it.
Starting in January, with our new Group Read schedule being every other month, will the title be featured for two months or only one month? just wondering what your thoughts were on this. Personally, I'd like to have the two months time because sometimes (like with Body Double) I'm a little behind on the group reads - but I'll still be happy if it's only featured for one month :-)

Just so everyone knows how group reads work....
We are featuring a title as a group read for two months at a time beginning in January 2012. Our first group read of the year will be IN THEIR FOOTSTEPS. Here is a link to that discussion thread: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/6...
A nomination thread will be set up to choose the next group read and then a poll for voting.
If you are interested in reading more Tess Gerritsen, please post in the Mini-Group Read Discussion Forum. Here is a link to that thread: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/3.... Vanish will be featured as a Mini-Group Read for one month January 1st-Feb. 1st.
