So I went out with some of my friends for boba and we started reading some really bad poetry and oh god

Betsy - gets killed from MR/AC alliance
Hakim -dies of natural causes
Arnold/Aisha -die from accidentally running into a river together because they saw a squirrel.
Diego -tries to fight a leading competitor. Gets killed in process.

Me: so we had our workshop today for my and my friend's script (with the squirrel) and it went really well. But there was this really talented screenwriter in my group (who got into USC's screenwriting program, which only accepts 26 people every year, and he's really great, but he has a kind of pompous air about him) and he said good things and that he liked it, but I still feel really self-conscious about it and ugh.

Me: Don't let pretentious people bar your way :) They don't go very far in life. Or they burn out young. Raw, unique creativity is something that you alone possess, something that is truly you and it stands out and it's clear you aren't indulging in pretentiousness, because that truly ruins art. It's something that you can use to your advantage at all times. Why don't you try submitting a written piece to a small magazine or school newspaper, if you haven't already?

Me: I mean, he's not pretentious, because he is incredibly talented and smart (both in lit and sciences) and I respect his opinion, and we're friends, so I don't know why I feel so bothered with having him read my script.
I've submitted to my school's lit mag but I' pretty sure I didn't get in, mainly because the subject matter isn't exactly totally school appropriate (view spoiler)[I mean, it's technically a second person flash fiction piece in which the "you" is a rapist, so I don't really know what possessed me to do submit that, and by the time I'd written something decent, I 'd missed the deadline (hide spoiler)]
