So she might go up and check on the night of, just as a precaution, and she finds Daniel there. Then she tries to stop it, but he gets angry and there's a struggle and a) he, angry and not thinking rationally, does something to her, or b) she falls instead. Or both.

I like the first one. :3 I was planning to have him get a permission slip from Sinistra to be up past curfew when it wasn't his turn to be patrolling the halls in order to go stargazing at some specific constellation/star/moon/etc. Sinistra might be up there, so when Rosaline goes up to check, they could both go out, and, upset, he could fire at her and then take the jump while Sinistra's distracted?
