Hello, everyone. I am glad to be here and to be able meet all of you. I tend to define myself by the description that I am married to a wonderful man [who is also Active Duty Army and will soon be deploying :(], the mother of a 10-year old boy who means the world to me, and in addition to being a full-time “single” mom, I work full-time outside the home as a secretary in a law firm. I don’t like talking about myself very much - can you tell? Obviously, I love to read and I joined Goodreads to get out of my comfort zone of historical fiction and try other genres. I love receiving book recommendations. In addition, I hope to be able to better articulate to someone the reasons why I loved or hated a book and why they may or may not want to read that book, too. So, that’s me in a nutshell.

Hello all,I'm Danielle, I'm 24 and live in a little suburb in Massachusetts. I graduated from Westfield State College last year with my BA in English, concentration in Literature. I love to read, I read pretty much anything I can get my hands on though right now I'm 100% devoted to vampire novels (I know, for shame hahaha) though murder mysteries and classics are also a huge part of my library.
I've always loved to read, the other day I found this thing I made in first grade where we had to fill in the blank: At school I like to ________. I wrote "read books in the book corner". I helped form a book group at my work, John Harvard's Brew House, though nobody likes to borrow my books because they're my most prized possessions. I always treat my books well, try not to break the bindings, NEVER dog ear the pages or write in them, etc. I know, I'm wacko hahaha.
It's wonderful to be part of a community such as Goodreads because it feels like home.
Danielle gald you joined. A lot of us here feel the same about our books. You will fit right in!
Wanda: Sorry that your hubby is soon to be deployed. You have friends here!
Welcome to the group Snehel, Jenn, Shelley, Neil & Teresa!

Hello- Thank you for the welcome- I started writting and introduction yesterday and then my computer crashed so I didn't finish. I will try again now.I am 24 and I live in Alberta surrounded by the Rocky Mountains. I love it and although winters are long I wouldn't ask to live anywhere else. I am engaged and getting married next summer. My fiancee things I am a nut- I hear on a regular basis "Your starting ANOTHER book, what happened to the last one" I read as much as I can- My family jokes with me about this because I was dyslexic as a child and undiagnosed. I wasn't able to read untill I was in Grade 4-5 when my teachers finally realized that I wasn't being a pain I couldn't read the words! Please excuse any spelling mistakes I make!
I love suggestions- I get overwhelmed in the library as there are SO many books this is why I joined this site. I have already read the Time Traveller's Wife but I look forward to next months book and reading what you all have to say about it!

Please feel free to add any of Faulkner's books in the Fiction section and you can add a thread on Faulkner in the Writers section. I am sure something will pop up.
I haven't read Faulkner yet but have two of his books that I got at the library sale so plan on reading them.

Hi everyone! My name is Samantha. I am 20 years old and i am graduating from College this weekend with my degree in Mortuary Science and then I plan on furthering my education by getting at least a masters in grief counseling. I'm nervous about entering the "real world" but we all have to grow up eventually, right? I joined this group because out of all of my friends i am the only one that reads for fun and has a passion for it. I hope that i will be introduced to some great books!
Congradulations Samantha!!! Cheers!!!!
You will find a lot of wonderful people in this group and will make some great new friends with the same passion for reading!

Hi, I'm Lauren. I live in Kent in England and books are practically my life. What I read also influences what I write - I want to be a novelist myself someday.
My favourite authors are Charlotte Bronte, Ian McEwan, Morag Joss, Joanne Harris, Rose Tremain, Jean Rhys and Thomas Hardy.

HI ALL!!!!
Emilee,I am a late joiner (hangs head in shame).
I know a few of you from TNBBC, where I moderate.
I love seeing all the new groups that have been created from current members over there!!
I found goodreads back in '07, and have been addicted to it since. My love of books was quite strong, but has expanded ten fold since...
I read just about anything. Sci-Fi/Apocalyptical, standard fiction, classics...
You have a great group here! Very organized and friendly! Keep up the good work!
Hi, I've been on Goodreads for a few months now and really enjoy being able to talk about books with people from around the world. My favorite genres are mysteries/thrillers - all kinds - and historical ficton but I like to mix in other genres too.
Hi I'm Vicki a Middle School Social Studies teacher. I have been a member of Goodreads since October 2008. I love to chat about the books I am reading and also I love sharing book ideas with others. I live in Pennsylvania and I have two boys ages 5 and 10 months old.
Hi, I'm Tom. I joined GoodReads a couple of months ago and already have been greatly influenced by numerous discussions. Most importantly, I was introduced to an author I never heard of - Charles de Lint - and started reading him. I am being richly rewarded by his great writing and stories and this just proves you can teach an old dog (me) about new authors. I've also been convinced to read a few of the Steinbeck I've missed over a lifetime of reading.I worship books. I am overly generous in my ratings - I give out 5 stars very freely because just having the opportunity to enjoy a new book is worthy of the highest appreciation and praise.
My top 10 books list has 100 books on it.
Hi Everyone! I'm new. I'm 19 and I go to the University of Michigan. I have loved to read since I was little. Right now I am reading The Two Towers (I admit this is not the first time - I'm rather addicted to LOTR), Anna Karenina (which I am finding very difficult but soldiering through) and The Time Traveler's Wife (which I absolutely love). Anyway I'm relatively new to the site and brand new to the group :]
Good morning everyone. My name is Gerry. I'm relatively new to the group. I'm a self-confessed book addict that is not looking for a cure. But I am looking to expand my my feeding ground and I think I have come to the right spot. I'm interested in every kind of printed word (fiction, non-fiction etc.) and look forward to many great ideas.
Hi, my name is Carrie. I love to read really good books, not fluff. I also work p/t at a city library. I have already read "East of Eden" and loved it. Also, read "Glass Castles" and loved it. Currently finishing up "Doctor Zhivago".
