Hi! My name is Kathy and I'm from LaSalle, Il. I've been a school librarian/media specialist in Seneca, Il. for the past 32 years! I'm closing in on retirement - but I still love my job! I have been married for close to 30 years, have 3 grown daughters (one is a Twitter personality!), 2 cats (Morgan & Maddie), and a wonderful border collie, Jewel. I love all types of books! Whenever I read a great review that title goes into my "to-read" list. I'm slowly but surely adding to my GoodReads! I'm also a diehard Cub fan! I have been part of a local bookclub for the past 8 years. It's a group of my friends I've known since grade school!

Hi Everyone,

I'm Aine (pronunced Anya) its Irish, like myself.. I joined this club because I liked everything on the bookshelf so far, great taste!

I live in the midlands of Ireland, in Laois the only county that doesn't touch a county that touches the sea.. But we have mountains and woodlands and lets face it Ireland's so small its still only about an hours drive to the coast anyway.. Enough of the geography lesson..

I'm a magazine designer. I am currently in the process of starting a new magazine for musicians written by musicians just about equipment, recording etc. My husband is a musician and is in a band called The Perfect Skins.. I have two children aged one and three who are completely crazy and I adore them for it and two dogs Woody and Flint so its a bit of a mad house! Whenever I do find time I read,I like to read biography, classics, good fiction (not contemporary romance type chick lit) I'm currently reading The Rainbow DH Lawerence perfect for Spring I reckon..

Thanks for that Ken, I'd never heard of The Man Who Died, but I'll be sure to remedy that.. Just read the brief description.. "The story expands beyond its Christian roots to explore and embrace Lawrence's abiding faith in the life-force apparent in every aspect of the natural world.' thanks for the welcome :) I haven't introduced myself because I only joined Goodreads 2 days ago and thought it best to lurk to start with! I'm a lifelong inveterate reader and joined this group because it looked interesting. I'm British originally but have lived in France for 10 years.

Check my bookshelf to see what books I like (imported from LibraryThing, which I got fed up of, especially the limit of 200 books for free membership -- that's why I came over here). This isn't all my books, i'm just adding them as and when.

Hello, I'm Amelia and I am a Nanny/Online College Student...I just recently turned 21 and Moved close to the beach...like an hour or so away in June...Which I love going out and sitting along the gulf and just bathing in the sun and reading. I recently got a Doxen puppy whom I love dearly, she goes everywhere with me, including to the store! I just took her to the beach for the first time and she didn't like the water...


I joined the group because I thought it would be interesting to get book suggestions, especially since I'm not a "reader" I always seem to get into a book then drop it for a few years and try to pick it back up...I am currently reading The Mermaid Chair, by Sue Monk Kidd and it seems fairly interesting...With my line of work I tend to read a TON of children's books, I just finished reading Hugo Cabret with the 5 and 7year old boys I watch and they LOVED IT!

I am just finishing some light reading and about to start "The Many Lives and Secret Sorrows of Josephine B" by Sandra Gulland.

Can't remember if I introduced myself but I live in Northern BC, Canada. I am mostly a stay at home home but am working part time as a consulting anthropologist.

I enjoy all sorts of books but really not so much of the horror genre.

If anyone has read the book Alice, I think by Susan Juby - you will know a little about the town I live in (actually you will knwo more than you would expect) as it is set in my town of Smithers.

Hello everyone! I am 28 yrs old and I live in Michigan. I am married with no children, but one dog (shepherd mix) Raider. I love to read (of course), and will pretty much read any book that lands in my hands. Some of my recent favorites are Fruitless Fall (non-fiction about bees), Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman and Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan. My favorites are constantly changing as is my taste in genre. Lately I've been on a non-fiction kick, but I think that has about run it's course. I'm just about to tackle Drood by Dan Simmons. Anyone read it yet? Is it worth the length? Looking forward to joining in on the discussions!
