Gayle (gretarahikkainen) Yeah, there's no way I can even get the challenge I'm working on completed in time. I'm seriously thinking of not participating in any more challenges in this group because I know I will never complete any of them. I have too many other things that take up my time besides reading. Most days, the only time I get to read is just before bed, and like last night, I fall asleep while reading.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3120 comments I only finished two of the 5 or 6 challenges I am in. I wouldn't quit just because you didn't finish one. It's about the great books you read and whiddling down your TBR list

I think December is an "off" month. No challenges, not even a minichallenge. I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3120 comments I like the mini challenges. :)

I'm not going to complete this challenge either. But, I love doing challenges, even when I don't finish. I think it helps force you out of reading ruts you get into. I know that there are a few books I never would have read if they weren't challenge books. Quite a few I ended up really liking. I know that I started rereading Colleen McCullough's Masters of Rome series because quite a few of them worked for the challenges this time. I had forgotten how much I loved these books and never would have reread them if not for the challenge. That's why I love them even though this is my fourth challenge and I'll only end up completing two of the four.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3120 comments I think this is my 6th, I lost count. I just keep doing them.

You need to give Rachel a chance to change the tally board. My guess is she may not get to it until Wednesday or Thursday.

Rachel G (anplica) | 280 comments Christina wrote: "So it appears this one did not count. Oh poo."

It doesn't look like I Still Dream About You is a HF Christina. Is this correct? If so, it indeed doesn't count since tasks for 15-25 points all need to be HF. Poo indeed!

message 211: by Christina (new)

Christina (christinahh) | 250 comments No it was not Historical Fiction. A majority of the book takes place in 2008 with some flashbacks throughout. It was a fun and fast read and I enjoyed it. Maybe I will still get one more book read. I totally missed the Historical Fiction header in the task list, I guess I need to read more carefully! :-P I am reading One Thousand White Women now which should count for one of the 20 pt tasks and it is HF. :-)

Jackie (thenightowl) | 2033 comments Sorry, I barely check this thread since Rachel has nicely taken over the scoreboard (thanks Rachel). :)

We were planning on December being a free month, so you can catch up on any books you've been meaning to get too. We know this month is typically busy for everyone due to the holidays. But if there is interest and you guys want a mini-challenge for December we can get that done for you. How about a member sponsered challenge...meaning you guys make up the type of challenge you want? We can do our typical mini-challenge and you guys give us the tasks you want on there or you can make up a totally new challenge for the month.

GR now has a group challenge feature we can also use. Unfortunately, it limits the tasks. For example, you can do one task- Read x number of December Holiday Themed books. If you participate it will add a shelf to your profile and you just add the books on when you read them.

Just throwing ideas out there if you're interested...

message 216: by Christy (new)

Christy I think a break is a good idea. I'm super busy in December and would hate to miss a challenge. I love them!! Thanks for all everyone does in making these challenges, they are awesome!!

message 217: by Foxy Grandma (new)

Foxy Grandma (foxygrandma) It looks like I took my break the past 2 months. I wasn't able to get much reading done, and wasn't able to be on the computer very much either. :{

And Dec is looking crazy too. So, while the mini challenges are my favorite. A break for everyone wouldn't be a bad idea. As long as everyone remembers to come back at the first of the year, fresh and ready for a new challenge.

message 224: by Nancy from NJ (new)

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) Once again I want to thank Becky and Shay for their time and effort putting together this #8 challenge. it's the first time I was able to be involved and I loved it. Gave me an excuse to read and reread some of those titles I never got to before and wanted to reread. Can't wait for the next one.
