SandyC (sandyc88) | 1193 comments Questions for Chapter 24 - Chapter 26

66) So Griff thinks Tyrion set up his own escape. Interesting. So no help from them.
He suspects, but I don't think he's sure about it.

67) So the prince is going to follow Tyrion's advice. Was the advice wise or setting the small prince up for failure? Not sure, but I sure wouldn't want to be at the mercy of Roose Bolton or Ramsay or Cersei (even though we know she is in deep doo-doo.)

68) It would seem that many people now know about Prince Aegeon. How fast do you think word will spread? When will they wash the blue hair dye out? I am quite shocked they've managed to keep it a secret this long. Gossip is like currency in this world. They'll wash out the hair when he's ready to declare himself.

69) What do you think of all the rumors being spread about Dany? Unbelievable. Some are actually kind of sickening. Yep, but again, people love to gossip.

70) Looks like Connington has the grey scale disease. Was that from fishing Tyrion out or from something else? Not sure. He could have had it for quite awhile before that, couldn't he?

71) Do you think Quentyn even stands a chance with Dany? If she and her council believe he can bring her victory, then yes. I don't think hooking up with Dorne is a bad idea.

72) Do you think Dany will survive with so many enemies? Do you think she should flee to Westeros or take a husband? For some strange reason the song 'I will survive' keeps dancing through my head for Dany. I don't believe GRRM would kill her off. The readers are too invested in her. (Hope I don't eat those words).

73) Quentyn has taken up with the tattered king. Interesting. Is this a wise or stupid thing? Hard to say. I have limited knowledge of the tattered king. Guess i need to go to Wiki.

74) What do you think of the tattered king's plan to infiltrate Dany's stronghold? I don't like it.

75) In the past books I thought Dany was a kick @ass sort of person. Now she's just seemingly week. Why do all GRRM's woman have to end up being week? Let's hope she doesn't end on this weak note. I think all of his characters have good days and bad days. I really want her to be victorious in the end. (I know, I shouldn't take sides!)

76) What did you think of the scene with Qarl and Asha? I thought she was being raped but by the end I guess not. Very strange scene. Yes, it started out very disturbing but then seemed to be like a game they play.

77) So did Asha get married without a ceremony? Her uncle just declared her wed? Sure sounds that way.

78) What did you think of Bolton's letter to Asha? Was it her brother's skin? I believe that Asha is fighting a lost cause. Yes, I believe it was Theon's skin. Bolton is that sick.

79) Who attacked Asha's castle? They kept being referred to as Wolves, so if that's the case, they are men who were loyal to the Starks.

80) Did Asha survive and, if so, what will happen to her? She probably did survive. She'll be taken captive and ransomed. (heck, I don't know!)

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1193 comments Questions for Chapter 27 - Chapter 30

81) Well now we know which Queen Jorah intended to deliver Tyrion to.
Yes, fortunately for Tyrion.

82) What did you think of the city of Volantis? It seemed like any other big city, with prosperous and seedy parts.

83) First impressions of the widow of the waterfront (aka Vogarro's whore)? Gotta love those reptilian eyes. She seems honest and fair.

84) Were you surprised the dwarf attacked Tyrion? Yes! And, when we found out it was a girl, I thought it might be Arya.

85) Will Tyrion be safe? Why do you think the widow of the waterfront did not turn him in? Tyrion is never safe. I think she didn't turn him in b/c she thinks he can help Dany, and she wants Dany to be victorious.

86) What did you think of Tyrion's declaration that he wanted to rape Cersei? Rape is a violent act, so I can see why he would want to do violence upon her.

#67 – Eek! Roose or Ramsay or Cersei? Me neither!

#68 – Gossip is like currency in this world.
Man-oh-man! Truer words were never spoken.

#70 – The grey scale? Hmmm… hadn’t thought of that; maybe.

#72 – I hope you don’t have to eat your words either.

#73 – Not much about the Tattered Prince in Wiki Ice.

#80 – Ah! Ransomed. Maybe. I don’t know either, LOL!

#84 – Arya! Wow.

#86 – Maybe Tyrion also feels Cersei “owes” him, since she slept with Jaime.

BTW - SotL is a lot of people’s favs, my ex included. Loved the Academy Awards for that one when Billy Crystal came out on stage for the opening. LOL!

Happy Halloween!

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Lisa Kay’s Questions for Chapter 30 (Melisandre) – Chapter 34 (Bran)

99. So many conflicting things happening with regards to Melisandre, who you know is not my favorite character. In this chapter we learn that she is using alchemist powders to preform her tricks and illusions. We knew her fire reading was faulty, but now we know for sure. That said, she is right some of the time, and close others – and obviously has some powers. So what does it mean when she is searching the fires for Azor Ahai/Stannis and gets images of Jon Snow? Who are the other possible contenders? And WTH are Melony and Lot Seven?

100. Comments on the big reveal of Mance Rayder/Rattleshirt? Surprised that Jon Snow changed his mind about his recuing “Arya” after this?
101. When Melisandre thinks her bed doesn’t get much use since King Stannis is gone, does that mean she was sleeping with him? He doesn’t seem the type, but then I keep thinking that I thought she had seduced him when that thing that she birth after she had Davos row her to kill Cortnay Penrose when he would yield Storm's End.

102. Uh oh. Does it bode ill for Davos when Milisandre says she can create a glamour with any piece of a person and she mentions a bag of finger bones?

INSERT LISARENEE’S Q’s

91) Could Ramsay's wedding to the fake Arya end up being another Red Wedding?

92) Gah! The story about what Ramsay does to women is terrible. More violence to woman. Why???????

93) Interesting addition to the story - Wex. He saw what happened at Winterfell and knows the 2 youngest Stark boys are alive.

BACK TO LISA KAY's Q’s

103. Okay, just to be sure I’m right, the shadow seen by Moqorro is Euron Greyjoy, correct? (The whole kraken sigil and one-eye thing.)

104. Nothing to earth-shattering happening with Tyrion. He keeps running across Penny; is that only so her backstory can be revealed? Plus, he is maintaining that he is a kingslayer, when we know he is not. Comments.

105. Is it just cynical me, or is Bran becoming more nonchalant about warging into Hodor and other things? Geez. I’m not liking any of my favorite characters this go round.

106. I feel sorry for Merra. She is really trapped. Jojen doesn’t look long for this world; then what will she do?

107. Where the three children, when Bran warged into the weirwood, Eddard, Lyanna, and Benjen? Who was the pregnant lady begging to be avenged, Catelyn? (Didn’t catch the hair color.) Nor do I know the brown haired girl kissing the tall knight. You?

I am wondering if she sees Jon as the real king and not Stannis. I don't think she likes that image.

100. Comments on the big reveal of Mance Rayder/Rattleshirt? Surprised that Jon Snow changed his mind about his recuing “Arya” after this?

Completely unexpected! What if the girl in the visions is Sansa, not Arya?

Yes, I think they were sleeping together. I seem to recall Davos remarking on that fact a couple of books ago.

102. Uh oh. Does it bode ill for Davos when Milisandre says she can create a glamour with any piece of a person and she mentions a bag of finger bones?

I think as long as Davos is useful to her, he will be safe from harm (at least from her).

INSERT LISARENEE’S Q’s

91) Could Ramsay's wedding to the fake Arya end up being another Red Wedding? Sure, anything can happen.

92) Gah! The story about what Ramsay does to women is terrible. More violence to woman. Why??????? Yes, very disturbing.

93) Interesting addition to the story - Wex. He saw what happened at Winterfell and knows the 2 youngest Stark boys are alive. Very cool! But I want to know what Rickon is up to!

Plus, he is maintaining that he is a kingslayer, when we know he is not. Comments. Do you suppose they will get together? I think Tyrion feels that if he's a kinslayer, he may as well be a kingslayer too.

105. Is it just cynical me, or is Bran becoming more nonchalant about warging into Hodor and other things? Geez. I’m not liking any of my favorite characters this go round. I'm not either. At all.

106. I feel sorry for Merra. She is really trapped. Jojen doesn’t look long for this world; then what will she do? Maybe she will stay with Bran and help him fulfill his destiny.

107. Where the three children, when Bran warged into the weirwood, Eddard, Lyanna, and Benjen? Who was the pregnant lady begging to be avenged, Catelyn? (Didn’t catch the hair color.) Nor do I know the brown haired girl kissing the tall knight. You? I have no idea, but when I first saw the pregnant woman I thought it was Ramsay's mother.

I just wanted to say that I feel GRRM has made this story too unfocused and too large. I'm all for many plotlines, but we don't get enough of each one to actually follow them. In my case, I'm starting to not care. Such a bummer since the first three books were outstanding. I hope this gets better but so far I'm disappointed. :-(

No idea. It's a bit confusing. Perhaps GRRM wanted to be a little mystical?

100. Comments on the big reveal of Mance Rayder/Rattleshirt? Surprised that Jon Snow changed his mind about his recuing “Arya” after this?

I was totally shocked by the reveal and, I must say, this is all getting a bit too much with all the dead people coming back to life. While Theon was never pronounced dead it was implied. My question about Theon is wasn't his lower jaw supposed to be shattered? How could anyone recognize him? Plus, how can the man/boy talk? It's just getting rediculous.

I thought they were sleeping together.

102. Uh oh. Does it bode ill for Davos when Milisandre says she can create a glamour with any piece of a person and she mentions a bag of finger bones?

Didn't catch that Lisa. That is a great thought. Hmmm....

103. Okay, just to be sure I’m right, the shadow seen by Moqorro is Euron Greyjoy, correct? (The whole kraken sigil and one-eye thing.)

Don't know. Maybe.

104. Nothing to earth-shattering happening with Tyrion. He keeps running across Penny; is that only so her backstory can be revealed? Plus, he is maintaining that he is a kingslayer, when we know he is not. Comments.

I don't know, but I mentioned him in one of the above answers.

105. Is it just cynical me, or is Bran becoming more nonchalant about warging into Hodor and other things? Geez. I’m not liking any of my favorite characters this go round.

I think he doesn't have a problem if it looks like it's what he needs to do. I think he feels bad for how Hodor feels about it though.

106. I feel sorry for Merra. She is really trapped. Jojen doesn’t look long for this world; then what will she do?

I don't know. Seems like Bran likes her a lot???

107. Where the three children, when Bran warged into the weirwood, Eddard, Lyanna, and Benjen? Who was the pregnant lady begging to be avenged, Catelyn? (Didn’t catch the hair color.) Nor do I know the brown haired girl kissing the tall knight. You?

No clue. I was debating if these scenes held meaning or were just used to show how much can be seen in the woods and how potentially useful the information could be?

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Questions for Chapter 35 - Chapter 37

Not a whole lot of questions for this group of chapters.

108) Do you think Jon should have gone on a trip with some of the men from the wall or stayed behind? Do you think it proved he wouldn't ask his men to do something he wasn't prepared to do himself?

109) Do you think the Wildings are starting to trust Jon?

110) Interesting that Ghost's coat will come in handy.

111) What do you think of Melisandre's and Stanis' tactics to help Jon. Are they trying to sway Jon to their support and, if so, is it working?

112) Dany! What can I say? Do you think Daario could have lied? Could he be betraying her for gold?

113) Do you think it was wise for her to comfort the sick people? Do you think she could get sick?

114) Do you Daario and Dany will be found together and the alliance ruined?

115) The Prince of Winterfell chapter was reeking of awful stuff. Like they say a rose by any other name would smell just as sweet, so too does something that reeks smell equally as unpleasant by any other name. *smirk* I wondered how all this would go down for the wedding. Ramsay is a creep. I can't believe he's suggesting Theon and he share Jeyne.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Lisa Kay’s Answers to Lisarenee Questions for Chapter 35 (Jon) - Chapter 37 (The Prince of Winterfell)

Not a whole lot of questions for this group of chapters.

108) Do you think Jon should have gone on a trip with some of the men from the wall or stayed behind? Do you think it proved he wouldn't ask his men to do something he wasn't prepared to do himself?
I’m unsure if it was wise, but I was glad he was going “back to nature” and with Ghost. Jon is safest with Ghost. Yet, after losing men out there, I think it showed he would defend the Wall as he saw fit and be willing to do so himself.

109) Do you think the Wildings are starting to trust Jon?
Maybe. But I don’t think it is enough to overcome their fear of Melisandre.

110) Interesting that Ghost's coat will come in handy.
Yes.

111) What do you think of Melisandre's and Stanis' tactics to help Jon. Are they trying to sway Jon to their support and, if so, is it working?
Yes and no.

112) Dany! What can I say? Do you think Daario could have lied? Could he be betraying her for gold?
Definitely. And definitely. I think this is part of the prophesy she had in that temple (or whatever house it was) in that very first book. Either that, or GRRM is repeating himself.

113) Do you think it was wise for her to comfort the sick people? Do you think she could get sick?
Well, I worried that she could be wrong about her “dragon’s blood” being immune, but hopefully she is right. Hopefully the people will love her for her. In a way, it was the first spark of the old Dany I’ve seen in a while. She has been so indecisive.

114) Do you Daario and Dany will be found together and the alliance ruined?
Hmmmm… no. Though I was very disappointed in her – and her choice – in a way this is her last say about what she does with her body.

Yuck. Very smelly rose, indeed. All I could think of is that Reek/Theon’s mouth was not in the best of shape. Poor Jeyne. Frey Pie anyone? Disgusting chapter.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Lisa Kay’s Questions for Chapters 38 (The Watcher) – Chapter 41 (The Turncloak)

116) “Serve, protect, obey.” Kind of nice that GRRM gives us a little simplicity after so much detail. Still, Areo Hotah’s chapter reveals Dornish political house of cards. Do you think that the massive skull presented by young Ser Balon Swann to Prince Doran is really that of Gregor Clegane, or is the mad scientist, Qyburn, still experimenting with him?

117) The Sand Snakes are free again. And Doran has them swear a holy vow that they will not betray him. Do you think one will? If so, which one?

118) Who from Kingslanding told Prince Doran of Cersei’s plans?

119) What do you think of the plan for Ser Balon to blame Trystane's death on Tyrion? Is Myrcella brainwashed enough to make this plot work? Wait. Will it be someone disguised as Myrcella? I’m confused.

120) Does Doran know Aegon Targaryen is alive or not?

121) Will Val be successful with Tormund? Will she get back to the wall before Stannis?

122) Whoa! Yarwick, Celladore and Marsh are not happy campers. Did you notice that Bowen Marsh didn’t take the offer of food or drink from Jon Snow? Comments.

123) Were you surprised that Tyrion humbled himself enough to ride a pig and join Penny in performing? And what is with all the violence toward Tyrion from Jorah? Sure, he struck a nerve, but Jorah’s been beating on him, like, forever.

124) Comments on Penny kissing Tyrion? Did he let her down gently enough?

125) Okay, the shipwreck completely surprised me. And the slaver! Whoa. What a way to end a chapter. Comments on what happened next?

126) How secure is Winterfell? Is it impenetrable from Stannis?

127) Were you surprised by Theon’s confession to Lady Dustin that he always wanted to be a Stark?

128) What is the significance of Silent Sisters never getting Ned’s bones back to Winterfell (I knew it!)? If they do return – despite Lady Dustin’s plan to feed them to her dogs should she run across them – will their “resting in peace” mean peace once again for the North?

Do you think that the massive skull presented by young Ser Balon Swann to Prince Doran is really that of Gregor Clegane, or is the mad scientist, Qyburn, still experimenting with him?

I would say it's him, but I don't trust any death till I see "read in detail" about it and even then they can come back.

117) The Sand Snakes are free again. And Doran has them swear a holy vow that they will not betray him. Do you think one will? If so, which one?

I'm guessing someone will betray him, but I don't know which. Course now they know he had an idea of what is happening and is working for their side and cause who knows?

118) Who from Kingslanding told Prince Doran of Cersei’s plans?

I'm guessing Verys. Even if he's out of the spotlight he's still around doing his spider man impression. Just need to revise the song a bit...Spider man, Spider man, sees and hears whatever a spider can.

119) What do you think of the plan for Ser Balon to blame Trystane's death on Tyrion? Is Myrcella brainwashed enough to make this plot work? Wait. Will it be someone disguised as Myrcella? I’m confused.

How is Myrcella? How's her face?

120) Does Doran know Aegon Targaryen is alive or not?

I don't think so. May be that Dany does not marry Aegon. He may end up married to the other princess.

121) Will Val be successful with Tormund? Will she get back to the wall before Stannis?

No idea. This plan seemed to materialize out of thin air.

122) Whoa! Yarwick, Celladore and Marsh are not happy campers. Did you notice that Bowen Marsh didn’t take the offer of food or drink from Jon Snow? Comments.

Could spell trouble.

123) Were you surprised that Tyrion humbled himself enough to ride a pig and join Penny in performing? And what is with all the violence toward Tyrion from Jorah? Sure, he struck a nerve, but Jorah’s been beating on him, like, forever.

Yes! I was totally surprised. Didn't think he'd do that. Maybe Jorah doesn't like little people? I'm guessing it's like oil and water--the two don't mix. I think Tyrion is the type of person who can really rub a person wrong. Plus, he tends to be very perceptive of people. If you knew someone in real life like Tyrion I think you'd think the person uncanny. I'm guessing that must be how Tyrion is like his father. They both could read people well???

124) Comments on Penny kissing Tyrion? Did he let her down gently enough?

I think so.

125) Okay, the shipwreck completely surprised me. And the slaver! Whoa. What a way to end a chapter. Comments on what happened next?

I figured they weather would be their undoing. I don't know why that didn't surprise me. That was a way to end a chapter and wasn't expecting the slavers to come. Yikes.

126) How secure is Winterfell? Is it impenetrable from Stannis?

I'm thinking if Theon could get in others can too. Plus no one's been maintaining it. How long since the fire? Seems like ages.

127) Were you surprised by Theon’s confession to Lady Dustin that he always wanted to be a Stark?

Yes. Especially after he tried to take over the castle, but then again maybe that's why he did it?

128) What is the significance of Silent Sisters never getting Ned’s bones back to Winterfell (I knew it!)? If they do return – despite Lady Dustin’s plan to feed them to her dogs should she run across them – will their “resting in peace” mean peace once again for the North?

It probably means we haven't seen the last of Eddard. Who knows. Let's face it GRRM can't make a decision to kill someone off and stick with it.

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1193 comments Questions for Chapter 35 - Chapter 37

Not a whole lot of questions for this group of chapters.

108) Do you think Jon should have gone on a trip with some of the men from the wall or stayed behind? Do you think it proved he wouldn't ask his men to do something he wasn't prepared to do himself?

I think in his position it may have been better to delegate, however it does show that he is prepared to get down into the trenches with them.

109) Do you think the Wildings are starting to trust Jon? Some are, some aren't.

110) Interesting that Ghost's coat will come in handy.

111) What do you think of Melisandre's and Stanis' tactics to help Jon. Are they trying to sway Jon to their support and, if so, is it working? I think Jon is on their side, even though he knows he shouldn't be. He can't just set aside his feelings for his family.

112) Dany! What can I say? Do you think Daario could have lied? Could he be betraying her for gold? I have no idea. Who knows what his motivations are? She is certainly giving in to lust, it sounds like.

113) Do you think it was wise for her to comfort the sick people? Do you think she could get sick? If she has never been sick a day in her life, then maybe not.

114) Do you Daario and Dany will be found together and the alliance ruined? Yes, I do.

Ramsay is a disgusting, sadistic perv.I hope Theon kills him and takes Jeyne away.

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1193 comments Lisa Kay’s Questions for Chapters 38 (The Watcher) – Chapter 41 (The Turncloak)

I hope it's Sandor.

117) The Sand Snakes are free again. And Doran has them swear a holy vow that they will not betray him. Do you think one will? If so, which one?
Well, based on their desire for revenge, I think they are solidly on Doran's side.

118) Who from Kingslanding told Prince Doran of Cersei’s plans? Hmmmm, Varys?

119) What do you think of the plan for Ser Balon to blame Trystane's death on Tyrion? Is Myrcella brainwashed enough to make this plot work? Wait. Will it be someone disguised as Myrcella? I’m confused.
Great questions.... we will see!

120) Does Doran know Aegon Targaryen is alive or not? I don't think he does, since he sent his son out to try to marry Dany. Aegon would be his nephew, right?

121) Will Val be successful with Tormund? Will she get back to the wall before Stannis? Don't know!

122) Whoa! Yarwick, Celladore and Marsh are not happy campers. Did you notice that Bowen Marsh didn’t take the offer of food or drink from Jon Snow? Comments. I think Bowen Marsh will be another one to lose his head if he's not careful.

123) Were you surprised that Tyrion humbled himself enough to ride a pig and join Penny in performing? And what is with all the violence toward Tyrion from Jorah? Sure, he struck a nerve, but Jorah’s been beating on him, like, forever. Tyrion knows exactly what will provoke Jorah, so in a way he is asking for it. I was surprised that rode a pig.

124) Comments on Penny kissing Tyrion? Did he let her down gently enough? I do believe she didn't want to die unkissed. Yes, his response was very appropriate, I thought. Shows that Tyrion can be a very good guy when he wants to be.

125) Okay, the shipwreck completely surprised me. And the slaver! Whoa. What a way to end a chapter. Comments on what happened next? Looking forward to seeing what happens.

126) How secure is Winterfell? Is it impenetrable from Stannis? I think it would be interesting if Theon could somehow get word to Stannis on how to take Winterfell.

127) Were you surprised by Theon’s confession to Lady Dustin that he always wanted to be a Stark? Yes, a little.

128) What is the significance of Silent Sisters never getting Ned’s bones back to Winterfell (I knew it!)? If they do return – despite Lady Dustin’s plan to feed them to her dogs should she run across them – will their “resting in peace” mean peace once again for the North? Perhaps. I think Lady Dustin is still bitter about not being able to bury her own husband, so she wants revenge by not letting Ned rest in peace at Winterfell. Was there more to it than that?

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1193 comments At least the plots seem to be moving along now.

@Lisarenee
#118 Mind meld!
#128 The thought crossed my mind that he could come back...that would be wild

#116 – Really! There are soooooo many characters in this that I’m not minding if a few get killed off; but, then they come back from the dead!

#117 – Ah! Good point. Now they don’t have a reason to betray him. Hadn’t thought of that.

#118 – Make that triple Mind Meld. (Love the song. **hee hee**)

#119 – True. That is why I thought they got someone else to pretend to be her at the last of AFFC, or am I confused?

#120 – This is where I’m confused again. If Verys (and Littlefinger) are plotting on the side of Aegon b/c they are staunch Targaryen supporters… why wouldn’t they tell Prince Doran he is alive? Sounds like Doran doesn’t know he is alive.

#123 – I thought it was out of character. Good points about Tyrion!

#125 – Did that guy chanting (or whatever he was doing) on the ship bring the bad weather on? Or was he trying to calm it down? Either way, he went over the side, right? But, maybe he’s still alive, LOL!

#127 – Probably.

#128 – LOL! That would be a feat, if he brought Ned back!

#111 – Really!

#113 – I hope not!

#116 – Sandor! Whoa. Now there’s a thought. I’d have to figure out if the timing could be right or not.

#118 – As I said to Lisarenee’s post = Triple Mind Meld.!

#120 – Yes, I think he is his nephew. Aegon’s mother was Elia Martell (married to Rhaega), and sister to Prince Doran.

#126 – Oh, I hope so! Does he have the backbone for it, or is his will gone?

#128 - You mean something mystical? **shrugs** I don’t know if there was more to it or not.
