Not being distracted by an imminent holiday, Ginger took the time out to recommend Callahans Crosstime Saloon.

Freddiesmum | 137 comments will download a sample I think, and also watch for reviews here, before I splash out. It is rather more than I like to spend unless I know the writer! I am happy to be guided by all of you though so I will part with my hard earned cash once I see what all of you have to say about it!!...talk about letting others take the risks for me, I am such a wimp!

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Just started.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh I LOVE this book!

message 11: by Philip (sarah) (new)

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments 12% in,Rather long introductions but what I have read so far has been both fun and touching.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Yeah, Ben Bova did go on a bit. I don't recall that being in my paperback copy. A few typos or formatting issues as well. I'll be emailing the publisher about them.

I'm at 36%. Love it, love it, love it.

I've read the first two chapters this morning! Loving it so far. I skipped the introduction - if I'm interested enough after I've finished the book, I'll go back to it.

:0)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Just finished it and now I want to talk about it!!!!
I love this book on so many levels. Okay, okay. I'll wait for the discussion and review thread to be opened...
The next book I read has a hard act to follow, is all I can say.

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments I'm finding myself dipping in and out of this so it is taking a while. We have a fireplace at the pheasant but ........

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments As each chapter is a stand alone story, it's a perfect book to dip in and out of.

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Finished this book yesterday and really enjoyed it,a sort of fantasy 'Chicken Soup for the Soul'.The stories were full of puns and humour but still managed to restore my faith in human nature.Thought provoking and strangely comforting in turn with some real laugh out loud moments. Thanks for recommending it Gingerlily.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I'm so pleased you liked it, Sarah!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments So am I - I was worried that no-one would like it

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments No worries GL, the book is it a bit like you. In the nicest possible way, witty, tough, thought provoking with an underlying goodness. (feel free to call me a creep but its true)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments You have a gift of adjectives, Lynne.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Aw thats so sweet! I'll be smiling all day now!

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Bit late to the ball here - I have just downloaded it - it's still October isn't it? As soon as I have finished 'Snuff' I shall read this.

message 26: by Valerie (new)

Valerie Douglas (valeriedouglas) | 7 comments Love Callahan!!! I've already read the entire series, so it's great to see others loving Callahan, too! So, what day is Punday...?

message 27: by Philip (sarah) (new)

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Every day on here Valerie!
The humour on this site is just brilliant.Someone already compared us to Callahan's,I think it may have been Gingerlily or Patti.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I mentioned it weeks ago and at that time I think it was only Gingerlily who knew what I was talking about! It's so great that more people are reading it.

Did you see Spider's email to me in the other Callahan thread, Valerie?

Yep, I'm still grinning.

message 29: by Valerie (new)

Valerie Douglas (valeriedouglas) | 7 comments NO... I missed it... where's the other Callahan thread? *running to go look*

That comparison stuck in my head when I was reading the book Patti, and I think it contributed to my enjoyment when reading it.
