I gave this book a 4. I enjoyed the pleasantness of the read, but it didn't absolutely WOW me either. I, too, fell in love with the Major. As an authors first published work, I felt Simonson did a REALLY good job, and it made me appreciate her talents that much more.

I also gave Major Pettigrew a 4. Simonson is a genius--subtle and ironic. She wraps all sorts of hefty themes into a tidy little bundle of British manners. And the writing is, in my opinion, hilarious.

Meghan | 115 comments I am not finished with it yet...but am giving it a 4. Love the humor of the book and the subtle ironies.

Alisha Rivera | 145 comments I gave it a 3. In the end, I found the story likeable. However, the book itself never really hooked me, so finishing it turned out to be more of an assignment I had to give myself than pleasure reading.

Diana S I gave it a 4.5 stars. I loved the writing. It was very funny, interesting themes, and Major Pettigrew was a doll! Who would not want to date the Major?!!!
